Since alot of things moved excessively slow in this case I wouldn't rule out that in 2005, 3 years after the 2002 lockeroom incident that this DA was getting ready to reopen the investigation. He purposely might have been kept out of the loop and/or rumor mill. For what ever reason the case popped up in 2005 or he finally decided to act irregardless of consequences.

Unless an unrelated murder I think he could've been confronted by Penn State officals or "fans" and fight & death ensued. Or he could've been confronted by Penn State "officials" including boosters or alumni and paid to go away- for ever. He might be on a tropical island somewhere sitting on a fortune. Unfortunetly I think he was given a coerced exit from life.
