We believe that the legacy of Will Eisner deserves to grow. The 30th anniversary of his comic book narrative "Contract With God" captured the attention of a Studio City, California namesake: Storyopolis! And now we can have a national convergence of collectors to herald the Bronx Boy emeritus. Eisner's"The Spirit" will earn the Big Screen release, but for those art collectors, young and old, the Storyopolis event promises us a rare opportunity to meet, greet, and revel in Eisner's mastery of Comic Art!

> About Will Eisner
> In 1940, Eisner created his most famous character, The Spirit, a
masked crime
> fighter. The Spirit was the lead feature in an unprecedented format: a
> 16-page color comic book that was inserted in Sunday newspapers, the
first of
> numerous Eisner innovations. More than a dozen years after he was
already
> tabbed ³a national treasure³, Eisner created the very first successful
> graphic novel with the publication of his seminal A Contract with God.
The

inspiring
> countless fellow professionals worldwide to follow. The graphic novel
is now
> Americaıs fastest-growing literary genre. Since 1988, one of the comics
> industryıs most prestigious awards, The Eisner Award, has been named
after
> him and is presented annually at
> Americaıs largest comics convention in San Diego. The Spirit will be a
major
> motion picture released in 2009 by Lionsgate and Odd Lot
Entertainment.

Fascinating comments from a Columbia University, New York professor of Yiddish Literature on The Comic Art of Will Eisner are exciting to comic collectors:
Jeremy Dauber at Columbia University New York, New York posted the following listing himself as a "Google Scholar" on Will Eisner.
"In recent years, we have witnessed a significant increase in writing by
scholars and literary and cultural critics on the genre of the comic book,
corresponding to an increased legitimacy given to the comic book industry and
its writers and artists more generally. Part of this phenomenon no doubt stems
from the attention lavished on the field by mainstream fiction and nonfiction
writers who consider comic books a central part of their own and America's
cultural heritage, such as Michael Chabon and Jonathan Lethem. It may also stem
from the changing nature of the industry?s finances, which now employ a star
system revolving around writers and artists, not merely the major companies
storied characters; though the days of the big houses that control the major
characters are by no means gone, in the last two decades, numerous specialty
imprints have been developed to publish characters that are owned outright by
writers and artists, to say nothing of profit-sharing deals with major stars,
even at some of the major companies."
