help with inherited coin collection

I inherited a large stash of coins from my father. It seems to be mostly pocket change from the past 40 years. The local coin dealer gave me information how to sort out the coins with silver content, which I have done. The rest are an assortment of nickels, pennies (many wheat), quarters and halves. Is it worth my time examining each and every one comparing them to what's in guide books? Or should I just turn them in to the bank?

thanks for the help

Thanks Alan. I did go thru them and saved out all the silver. THIS much I knew. I have periodically closely examined some and looked them up in collector's book. Not a lot of value popping up.
