I saw a bird out my window today. I dont know what kind of bird it is, but I was hoping someone could tell me.

It was black eccept for its belly which was bright yellow.
The wings had a white stripe and the beak was like a cardinals.

If you could tell me what bird you think it was, that'd be muchly appreciated!

Thanks!

What did you come up with? The description sounds like an oriole, but the beak is throwing me off. Are you sure it wasn't more like a blackbirds beak? If not, look up Rose-breasted Grosbeak. The beak on this bird is like a cardinals and the description is close. Grosbeaks are molting now and migrating through your area so it is possible it had lost the red patch on it's breast. Just for the heck of it, also look up Bobolink. Also what kind of habitat was it in and what was it eating. Both are very important clues. Birds from all over the continent are migrating now and millions go through your area at this time, so anything is possible. I am interested, please let me know. Good luck with the hurricane!!! I bird watch in Texas every April and we're praying for you guys up here tonight.

What was I thinking last night? It was late. Scratch the grosbeak!!(Unless the belly was white). But that is the bird with a bill size closest to the cardinals. After a good nights sleep I can add Lesser Goldfinch to the list. Maybe American Goldfinch. But the bill still throws me off. Goldfinches bills aren't that big. How big was the bird? Sparrow, robin, blue jay size?

cute very butyful, we think it broke its wing because its crooked and has a bald spot under its wing. Its a colorado bird and we have a lot of them around the area. Its small and is still a baby because it has a few new born feathers. It CAN eat worms but we dunno were her mother is. 2 or 1 and a half inches high (still baby though) and about 3 inches width. Still dont know what type it is.
PS: if you can answer these Questions: Can they eat hamster food, what type is it, what size of cage?
If you can email us at Kevbrook1@comcast.net
