brother winston wrote: <quoted text> Where did Moses get his information to write the book of Genesis, if he is the author of that book? There is way too much information to have come from oral history, it seems to me. YHWH has made known from the foundation of the world what it is that He requires of mankind. When He forbade Adam to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, He was setting a choice for mankind to set up his own religious system, apart from YHWH. In the course of approximately 2,000 years of procreation, only three men are listed as righteous: Abel, Enoch, and Noah. That is a pretty strong indictment of the human specie, don't you think? "YHWH saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." Genesis 6:5 More than three thousand years after the creation of Adam, the human heart had not improved from the time of the flood, either. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9. I know those things apply to my own heart and I suspect it might apply to other's hearts, too. There is much that goes in the oral history, oral law, etc. BTW, what was the purpose of giving the written Torah to His own, Israelites?

When one asks who is the religious man, is it your faith in God?Is it to follow Torah? When you look at what the Torah teaches, you find it is a guide to the relationship between God and man and the relationship of man and man.In all it's complexities of observance to these eternal commands, it is the guide to help reunite mankind into one. While it is for the Jews,it also contains all of the Noahide laws that the nations are supposed to follow and while Israel is obligated to the mitzvot, the nations can take on more than only the seven Noahide laws. How is this? Because all of Torah law connects to other laws. Those seven can expand to the laws that have to do with each of them. In our observance, both Jew and Gentile,we draw to understand and be the one that God wants for mankind. So,with Torah being the blueprint to unite us all and to teach us how to interact with ALL of our brothers and sisters in creation.Who is the religious man? I believe the words of Abraham J. Heschel(Jewish theologian and philosopher, 1907-1972 ) puts it perfectly when thinking of Torah: "A religious man is a person who holds God and man in one thought at one time, at all times, who suffers harm done to others, whose greatest passion is compassion, whose greatest strength is love and defiance of despair."

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 4) It is obligatory to appoint judges and set up a court of law in order to pronounce and mete out just decisions to all mankind.<-- 1Tim5:19 19. Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 5) It is forbidden to worship idols. <- No idols,Acts15:20, But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. 6) It is forbidden to commit sexual sins (adultery, homosexuality, bestiality).<- No fornication,Acts15:20,Rom:13:9 : For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery,... 7) It is forbidden to murder a human being.Rom:13:9: For this,.....Thou shalt not kill,..It is already established earlier that the Torah laws were not to be followed by the gentiles, yet these laws, which are the Noahide laws also contained in Torah were to be followed by the gentiles as taught by Paul. When meat is prepared at your local market,it is not salted and soaked to remove the blood.Matter of fact, many products list blood as an ingredient such as scrapple, polish liver sausage and others.Hence christians do eat blood.Acts 15:20,29 and Acts21:25 The command not to eat a strangled animal is dirrectly tied to not eating the limb of a living animal. The stun method used in non-kosher slaughter frequently leaves the animal still living when they begin to eviserate and cut it up.A strangled animal was often simply unconciencous in the old days.Acts15:20,29 and Acts 21:25 Have a cross at church that people kneel before to pray? This falls into the graven image catagory, never mind paintings of saints and Jesus, same idea.Acts15:20,29 The church has driven Jews from thier homes to take thier property and pocessions for over 1800 years.Refer to Thou shall not steal and covet,Eph4:28,Rom:13:9: For this,..... Thou shalt not steal,.... Thou shalt not covet Now,I have heard the old standard of "They weren't real christians" yet they were the only christians.Adherring to the words and proclamations of the church and leaders. So,the church has consistantly broken the laws they were instructed to obey, almost since its inception. If as John states in 1Jn:3:4( Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law),the church transgresses these laws on purpose.According to Paul, salvation is lost due to sinning purposely,Hebrews10:26: For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27: But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Hence, the church has led all of its followers astray from what was taught. What do you say to gentiles who tell you that the Noahide laws do not exist?

Martha wrote: The Sabbath was a law to the nation of Israel. There are no Gentiles, or Christians under the Sabbath law. Jesus death did away with the Law of Moses, Christians are suppose to be under the Law of Christ now, that means you must love your neighbor as yourself, besides loving Almighty God Jehovah, with your whole heart, soul and mind. That is why there is a new convenant. Yet your Jesus stated that the law was not null and void. Perhaps you should reread your own NT.

The law of Christ is that you love one another, that means your brother, neighbor or fellowman. If you do try to show love, you would not lie, kill, steal, or break any of the commandments in the law of Moses. The new covenant replaces that covenant between Jehovah God, and the nation of Israel, with Moses as the mediator. The new covenant is between true Christian followers of Jesus, and Jehovah God, with Jesus as the mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5-7) 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all—[this is] what is to be witnessed to at its own particular times. 7 For the purpose of this witness I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—

The New Covenant is quite simple to understand. Jeremiah 31: 30-31 30 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah; 31 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; forasmuch as they broke My covenant, although I was a lord over them, saith the LORD. The New Covenant pertains to the House of Israel AND the House of Judah.
