Full story: The Washington Post

In his acceptance speech for the Republican presidential nomination, former governor Mitt Romney focused more on his biography than his policy positions.

Reaction to vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s acceptance speech was not, per usual, simply divided along partisan lines, with the media mostly reporting how it played with various audiences.

Instead, mainstream outlets prominently tagged a number of the points he made as flatly inconsistent with the facts.

Of the five best-read pieces on the Post’s Web site Thursday,
No. 1 was a column headlined,“Paul Ryan fails — the truth,”
No. 2 was an editorial,“Mr. Ryan’s misleading speech,”
No. 5, another column,“Paul Ryan’s breathtakingly dishonest speech.’

Even FoxNews.com had a post that labeled the oration “dazzling, deceiving and distracting.

As I listened to Paul Ryan, I couldn’t remember ever hearing an acceptance speech so rich in untrue un-facts.

No, the federal government is not “in charge of health care,” and it isn’t remotely fair to blame the president for “a downgraded America.”

Bush led/pushed this country into the abyss that will take a generation or more to correct.

Then there was this:“When I was waiting tables, washing dishes, or mowing lawns for money, I never thought of myself as stuck in some station in life.”

Of course he didn’t; the father he lost far too young was a lawyer, and the rest of his family was prosperous, too.

Is there ANY truth to the GOP?

You see this is how Bush won...off lies and people emotions and fear....this is not going to work this time. I would rather stay in this marriage with Obama. At least he has a heart for the middle class, poor and all Americans. It's not "them and us" that Romney is running on. Romney doesn't care a dawn about "us", its about him and "them".

We want to see Romney's 10 years of taxes. I know he is lying. Look at how he and Ryan the Liar have lied during the RNC to the American people, both of them with a straight face.

The American people need to band together to demand the release of Romney's taxes. If he wants my vote he needs to release his taxes. Romney is hiding something that he knows would disqualify him from being in any public position.

If we don't demand to see Romney's.taxes we may regret this later...

The people of America have to ban together to demand that Obama release the records that he illegally sealed by claiming executive privilege in the Fast and Furious case. Why illegal? Because he and his
accomplice Holder were already on record as saying that Obama was never consulted nor was any activity involving that operation ever discussed with the POTUS. Therefore, no legal right to executive privilege.

As Forest Gump would say, "Are you just plain stupid, Boy?"

Romney and Ryan neither one have anything to hide. If that were so, they would never have made it this far into the GOP vetting process.

That's the inescapable fact.

Now choose. 4 more years of Obama and absolute economic disaster and more division or give someone with an actual record, both in business and government, a go at it. And, yes, it can, and will, get worse. Just let Obama have the free rein he's had the last 3+ years.

I don't care which way you vote.

Since when has Obama cared what was legal or constitutional?

I predict in 4 to 6 years he and Holder will be held accountable for F&F and lying to congress. It will take that long and the trial will be held in absentia because both of them will flee this country asap because they neither one like America or Americans. And Michelle barely masks her distain.

I apologize 'you check'. Thought I was replying to semper fi whatever demands for tax records.

You know, yes Obama probably had lousey grades, but I'm much more interested in who financed his education and got him accepted. Even if it was a student loan.......who made the payments? I just have always smelled a George Soros conspiracy.

And where his he this election, come to think of it?

I think you are dreaming about the Fox news blimp, because I couldn't find it. Of course, they do report both sides.

Paul Ryan has more integrity in one finger then Obama ever thought about having.

As usual you idiots don't know what you are talking about.

National Coalition for History

President Obama Revokes Bush Presidential Records Executive Order (updated Jan. 26)

On January 21, in one of his first official acts, President Barack Obama revoked the Bush administration’s Executive Order 13233 that severely limited access by the public to presidential records. Click here to see a copy of President Obama’s new Executive Order 13489.

President Obama firmly committed his administration to a new policy of transparency by symbolically issuing the executive order on his first full day in office. The issuance of the Obama presidential records executive order ends a nearly eight year effort by historians, archivists, political scientists and other stakeholders in federal courts and on Capitol Hill to have the Bush EO revoked on legal grounds or by statute.

The language in the Obama executive order is similar to Executive Order 12667 issued by President Reagan in 1989 which was also in effect during the presidencies of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. The Reagan executive order was revoked when President Bush issued EO 13233 in November 2001.

The Obama executive order restores the presumption that the incumbent president, not former presidents, their heirs or designees should be the one asserting claims of executive privilege. The executive order states that only “living” former Presidents can make claims of executive privilege. This removed one of the most egregious sections of the Bush EO that allowed heirs or designees to make claims of executive privilege for an indefinite period after the death of a former President.

In addition, the provisions in the Bush EO allowing former vice presidents to assert executive privilege are gone. In fact, the Obama EO makes it clear that vice presidential records are to be included under the definition of “presidential records.”

Executive Order 13489 also restores the function of the Archivist of the United States’ as an independent arbiter of initial claims of executive privilege. The executive order assumes the Archivist may release records 30 days after notifying the incumbent and former Presidents unless a claim of executive privilege is made.

Whom you choose to like or dislike is irrelevant entirely.

Here is that 'missing link' you had a problem finding
Paul Ryan’s speech in 3 words

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/pau...

Ryan may have helped solve some of the likeability problems facing Romney, but ultimately by trying to deceive voters about basic facts and trying to distract voters from his own record, Ryan’s speech caused a much larger problem for himself and his running mate.
