Food stamps again a vivid symbol in poverty debate
Food stamps have figured in Americans' ideas about the poor for decades, from President Lyndon Johnson's vision of a Great Society to President Ronald Reagan's scorn for crooked "welfare queens" and President Bill Clinton's pledge to "end welfare as we know it."

If they ended corporate welfare programs and tax breaks for the wealthy there would be more than enough to feed the hungry!

I'm going to have to BONE up on the poverty in America. I know soldiers in the military do not or did not make what they should. They do get some perks like health care, commisary privileges, and on-base housing if possible, but when they get out of the military, it doesn't typically give them a leg up.
I have not watched the 2 plus hours of video. It's a whole panel of people with ideas about what causes poverty and what can be done about it.
