I think putting a photo on social security cards is a great idea. but it should understood that people age.
so, at some point, new photos should be issued to replace old ones.
on accepting driver's license as one way of getting social security cards is questionable in my opinion. I've read that many states are now issuing them to non-citizens.
last, but not least... I don't see the author's objection to making the social security card the "de facto" national ID card. why not?
many countries in the world have national ID cards issued to their citizens. it's a good idea.
