Rossville has been known for its aerial attack under longtime coach Steve Buhler, but the Bulldogs reached the Class 3A state semifinals because their running game did just enough Friday night to hold off Caney Valley 18-16. After a dry first half in which the teams traded touchdowns and two-point conversions, a swirling wind and steady rain forced ...

While we enjoyed the hospitality at the game, we most definitely didn't enjoy your weather. The game was a hard fought one and we are proud of the way our team competed and so should you be proud of you team. I believe that you have the best all-around player in Buhler that I have seen in several years. This is High School and should be used to build team pride and humility. Not smugness or contempt. However, several comments were heard on the way out about how Caney Valley didn’t belong in a game against Rossville. Just how that conclusion was reached is a question in it’s self. With the exception of a blocked kick in the 3rd quarter, I would say that the game was evenly matched and fun to watch. Speaking of watching the game, where were the Rossville fans? I have never seen such a pathetic representation of fans in my life. The KSHAA would have lost money on that game if it hadn’t have been for the 400+ fans from Caney Valley who had to endure a 200 mile drive in the rain to attend. I would hope that we get the opportunity to host Rossville next year down in Caney so we get a chance to see the number of “True Rossville Fans” there are. If I were from Rossville I would be ashamed of the lack of fan support.

However, like I said the game was good and those fans who did show up have every right to be proud of their team, who by the way played a good game. On that night the better team won, but there is always next year. Hope to see you down in Caney. Come on down!

I am a Caney Valley player and if you want to get right down to it Rossville didn't deserve that win....after we scored our first touchdown Rossville came out in the second quarter and passed for their first touchdown but the thing is they shoulnt have gotten that touchdown. the ball clearly hit the groung in the endzone THEN the rossville reciever scooped it up and if the ref that sould have been watching the ball was actually doing his job then he would have seen that. and it would have been 4th down and i KNOW our defense would have stopped it and the referees were spotting the ball at least a yard or two farther than what they got every other play....but thats the thing anytime Caney gets far in a season there is always a ref or someone who thinks that we're not good enough to bein that position but you know what we are good enough thats why we put together a scoring drive in under 4 minutes and woulda won that game if we wouldnt have gotten ripped off by the ref's......And ive never herd a coach cuss a kid the way the Rossvlle coach did....thats pathetic and so is there does a team that resides 165 miles away and in freezing weather get twice if not more fans than the home team? Well ill tell you because everyone from Caney knows that we have the skills to go all the way. but evidently those referees didnt think that way.....

Probably one of the best officiated games I have seen all year. Well played on both sides of the ball. I thought both teams were well represented it just seems that a lot of Rossville fans stand along the fence instead of sitting in the bleachers. To the Caney player when you blame someone else (referees in your case) it just sounds like sour grapes. You played hard and the score was just not in your favor at the end.

Id say the only bad call was when the official called a touchdown when clearly the ball hit the ground on a td pass. I was a foot away from it and it was a drop! Other than that good game ref! "sarcasm" lol
