Just what are you "just sayin"? Why didn't you "just say it"? The point being is that - you don't know what people were saying and you just want to say something yourself. There are a lot of people who are trying to say a lot here, without saying very much at all.
If you are a parent (in any sport), please take a moment to talk to your player about respect and sportsmanship. If you are not a parent, please stop the gossip, the "who knows if true" comments. Gossip, trash talk, and speculation makes the "job" of the many volunteers (in this case, among them, team boards, athletic directors, coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, chain markers, minimum play recorders, announcers, spotters, etc.) in addition to the officials and the players on the field that much harder. Thank you in advance for positively contributing to curbing this behavior in the future.
I do know EXACTLY what was said. I read the complaint from an angry youth football team from Emeryville. They said it, i read it. They complained of southern marin youth football kids using racial terms for the other boys. I was not there, they were, and they were saying it. I am a parent, I am a coach, and a board member. I read the letter, it was emailed out to many people. Southern Marin folks know about it too. Did it happen? I don't know, I was not there. But does not take Perry Mason to at least consider that two unrelated independent organizations are saying kids from southern marin (redwood high feeder) the same thing. Racist comments on the football field. Get overyourself.

I'm a Redwood graduate (and now a Redwood mom) and completely dismayed at what took place and how Redwood has handled it. No responsibility has been taken by Redwood's coach or by the athletics administration. The players are now being told not to talk to anyone about what happened. Teachers/coaches asking kids to keep a secret is --- scary!
What life lessons are these kids being taught? Go ahead and fight, blame someone else for your behavior, then keep it all a secret?
Athletics has gone way downhill at Redwood. And that's sad.
They were told to stop making wild accusations to outside people, stop writing comments on internet boards. It was not an attempt to keep anything a secret. Do you think that would actually work?

Be careful of what you take as fact on internet boards folks.

Let the kids play, football is a physical sport. Although I do not condone fighting, shoving and trash talking is harmless in a game dependent on hitting and tackling. The schools have way overreacted. Honestly, it is good to finally see a public high school team in marin with a little passion for their school.

Redwood can't recruit players from all over the place. Like MC can.

That gives them an excuse why they're so crappy. Plus, I think they were probably fed too much granola as young children.

In my duties as a cabdriving rodent, I take kids to school. These are some of the lamebrainiest kids out there. And I take all of them to...you guessed it...Redwood.

what do you expect from a society of simians?....you "craft" your selected children for "careers" in athletics...all for what?, a big money contract and chance to win the world series or superbowl so all the primitive cave dwelling grafalloners can go on a rampage a riot and destroy thing, mayhem...
you stupid people are not responsible enough nor civil enough to enjoy sports...
as I listened to the radio this morning it was now the new expected norm for the simian citizens to go on a rampage when "their" team wins...
I was pro when I was a kid, so please, no nerd jokes, I'd out baseball 99% of you...this is not a society that enjoys athletics and learns positive things from them, no, you have a bunch of angry young men pumped up by the adults around them in a quest for money... and a now expected "melee" at the end of a winning season...
I hope they never win again, that way you creatures will stay in your holes where you belong, cause lord knows, any chance given, you'll take a good thing like a victory and turn it into fight or a rampage...
this is bread and circuses, you people need to examine you motivations
