I gotta go with Midland v.s. Midland Dow. The two schools only seperated by about 3 miles. The infamous game always held at the last game of the year. During the week of the big game it's like the entire city of Midland, Michigan is electric. Midland has had the edge the last six years, but no matter what theres a huge turn out for the game. And almost every year the game is played in cold wet rain and sometimes hail. You gotta love that Michigan weather.

The best rivalry is Midland vs Midland Dow. Both schools hate each other and everytime they match up, it's for bragging rights of who owns the city. Even at the Midland vs Dow girls high school basketball game it's intense.

Bradenton Manatee and Bradenton Southeast is the best rivalry. Every year the police have to seperate the fans by putting in fences and 5 years in a row had to use tear gas to control the crowds. There is a shooting almost every year, these fans and player HATE each other. The kids that are in gangs on manatee are the rival gang members from southeast, its just clean hate. Between 1993 until 2000, you couldn't have won a college football national championship without a player from either team on that college team. Tommie Frazier, Peter Warrick, Adrian Mcpherson, Tyrone Williams, this rivalry is a beautiful and rare thing!

MSJ V. Rutland Highschool
Crosstown city rivals game is one of the longest rivalries in the state let alone the country. Based in Rutland these two teams can draw up to 8,000 or more fans and for a Vermont football game that is alot.
Absolutely! I played in this game from 1991-1994.

In Michigan, the biggest rivalry is the 4 way rivalry between Clinton township Chippewa Valley, Macomb Township Dakota, Shelby Township Eisenhower and Utica Stevenson. They all belong to the most powerful conference in Michigan (MAC Red) and generally the winner of the conference goes on to the state finals for Eastern Michigan. The total attendence from all 6 games is about 120,000 all together, and few teams can match the amount of city pride these rivalries hold.
However, this probably isn't the largest rivalry in the country.
not the best league in michigan-catholic league is no doubt. best rivalry is cc vs brother rice

We have heard everyone's opinion on how they think there school has the best rivalry, but let's get real now. How many games can claim over 30,000 people annually, and year are year after year competing for the state title??
I live here in Louisville, KY and I believe our rivalry is second to none other than maybe the Jenks vs. Union rivalry. There have been over 30,000 people to this game every year for the past 20 years and before that it was over 25,000. Last year the game brought out 38,500. people tailgate from around 4 till gametime at 8. people cut work early to tailgate for this game. There have been many collegiate and pro athletes that have competed in this game. As of now Brian Brohm former USA today high school player of the year is a top heisman candidate played for trinity. Most of these kids know each other and played grade school ball together and that is what makes this game so special.
hey i agree with u ur rivalry has more people than we annually we average 20 to 25,000 tho a game but our largest crowd ever was a little over 40,000 and union and jenks has combined 2 win the last 13 state titles but in my opion i think ours is better but yall average more people. yeah but i do like 2 thank u 4 sayn that bout our rivalry okla gets overlooked all the like the only states that can play hs ball r cali, texas, louisiana, ky, and ohio so thanks anyway peace

All bullshit aside, FL high school football trumps the rest. That said, I have witnessed countless games in over 20 of its counties. Although Bradenton, FL's Southeast HS Seminoles vs Manatee HS Hurricanes does not bring in 50,000 ppl like some of the comments above [20,000 more so]; it is certainly the greatest rivalry in all of FL [top five in the country]. And no, I am not speaking of a 10-15 year stint, I am speaking of a rivalry that has continued for over 50 years. It is an incredible event to experience.

I grew up in the San Francisco area, saw some good rivalry, by the best by FAR is the Emotion Bowl in ID - Skyline vs. Idaho Falls High. History: In the 1960s a bond was raised to build a football stadium at IFHS with the promise that one would be build at Skyline when they could afford it. 40 years later, they're still sharing a stadium. The name "Emotion Bowl" fits. At the end of the game, the goal posts are painted in the winning school's colors and they remain that color so long as that team remains victorious.

hands down Tuscola Mountaineers vs. Pisgah Bears. Haywood County, Waynesville, North Carolina. This rivalry has been ongoing since the beginning of the 2 high schools creation, seeing as they are the only 2 high schools in the county. There are usually around 20,000+ people that attend the game. The crowd is amazing. the stadium opens at 4 pm, so people can find a seat. If you get there much later, you'll have to stand, that is if you can find a spot. The whole county knows about the game, and almost everyone is in attendance. Each school creates their own "spirit shirt", which you will see almost everyone wearing at the game. These shirts, although seemingly sportsman like, send a message from school to school giving almost a warning. These shirts represent the extreme spirit and rivalry w/ in the school as well as in the county. This year the THS vs PHS game was voted one of the top high school rivalries in the nation, and will be televised. Tune in:)
