I think it is very sad that the school system is allowing the CHILDREN to run our schools. They are not the ones in charge, but yet we let them run good people/teachers out, because of what? Are they afraid of little hard work, because anymore the some teachers in jefferson county require only the parents to teach our children what they should learn at school. Schools should be about discipline, studies, and morals, instead most just go to have fun!! I think we as parents and adults should remember what we were taught as children, and instill those values. Instead getting something without working for it. Coach I am sorry to see what our children did to lead you to leave. Good luck!!

I have followed this story since since the beginning. I think the cause of this problem totally rests with the parents of the kids who filed the lawsuit. It is really sad when parents try to put so much stock in the athletic accomplishments of their kids that the sense of values for both the kids and parents become totally warped. The kids filed the lawsuit in name only - it was their parents who were behind the whole thing. If I was the coach and the kids started a petition to get me fired I would kick them off the team too. The end result here is that nobody wins. The kids never got to play, the Jefferson County football program is wrecked and the coach went on to another job. Parents need to remember that high school sports are for the kids, not for the parents.

I believe those kids had every right to express their feelings about the coach. Jefferson County has had the tallent in the past several years but they have not had the coaching staff that they deserve. Hopefully Jefferson County will find a headcoach that can get along with the players and get this tallented school back on a winning track. Go Patriots!!

I was a former player for Euverard and though I may not have liked the way he did things while I was there, I have learned in the long run that he as well as the other coaches at JCHS have taught everyone in that program to become better men and better people and I thank him and the coaching staff at Jefferson County for that.

I did play 20 years ago and I still think they did the right thing by stepping up and doing whats right and before u shoot your trap off maybe u need to take time to investigate some of the cold hard facts maybe u get your facts by hearsay or just maybe u dont know the constitution. By your comments its obvious you dont know anything about the whole situation. Or u would not suggest that DALE be the couch he is part of the problem not the solution

This case was mishandled from the beginning, and a fine man who gave his charges a full education is now going elsewhere. It is important to understand the facts of the situation, most of which have been misrepresented throughout the entire ordeal.

Fact 1: The "petition" was a sloppy piece of notebook paper with the words "We don't like Coach Euverard and don't want to play for him" scrawled at the top. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is interdisciplinary work at its finest. Not only did these students do a poor job of articulating their desires they also did not offer any type of remedy to the issue.

Fact 2: The students were treated fairly by the coaching staff and offered a choice of participation. At no time were these gentlemen harassed by the staff. These men were met with and offered a choice of playing or not playing. While this would be simple for most people, modern litiguousness took over as these young men sought to have their cake and eat it too.

While it is human nature to speculate, rumors and third-hand knowledge aren't always accurate. While I will not mention the conversations that have gone on concerning puppeteering of the situation, I will only say that many people feel along the same lines as Steve's post above. I don't believe there are many, if any, athletic programs where parents do not try to advance their children (or worse, relive their childhoods) through the unethical influence of the coaching staff. Some people just don't know that's what they are doing.

While next season may be different in terms of wins and losses on the field, Jefferson County has lost a teacher who strove to imbue his students with character and self respect, all the while showing his students that someone can be a good coach and a good person at the same time. Best of luck back in middle Tennesse, Coach. Some of us will miss you.

I neglected to mention this in my previous post - a proper petition consists of a complaint, a detailed explanation of the nature and scope of the complaint, and a viable remedy for said complaint. I don't believe that parts two or three of the standard petition format were followed, making the petition - again - just a ratty piece of paper with a sentence scrawled at the top.

I believe that this was long overdue, as the mother of one of the boys in lawsuit I stood behind my son in his expression of his rights. I am disappointed however in the handling of this whole incidence by the Jefferson County school board and the school administration. I hope caoch Euverards
lack of good decisions does not follow him at his new position but I am excited and looking forward to my son being able to play football at his highschool once again.

The Real Problem At Jefferson County Since 1987 Is Coach Craig Kisabeth He Should Of Been Put Out Of The School System Years Ago. Ryan Collins Tried To Get Into Jefferson County To Coach Football But Because His Parents Worked In The School System It Was Conflict Of Intrest I Want Throw Stones There Are Others Family Members Working In The School System.

I'm a little confused why this reporter would write an article and not give any details. Why were the players kicked off the team? Where is the coach going? I was interested enough to click on the headline but frustrated by the actual article.

The players made the choice to leave the team following a farcical scrawl on a ratty sheet of notebook paper inarticulately stating that they disliked the coach. They were given a choice - stay and play or go home - and chose to litigate instead.

Coach Euverard is headed off to Battleground Academy in middle Tennessee.

Frankly, I wouldn't want to coach in Jefferson County no matter what kind of coaching stipend is offered. There is more pressure on the football team to win than there is on the school board and county commission to come to a consensus on building new schools. It's a sad shame that athletics rules the roost in that county, there is so much potential for an agribusiness or arts program to shine on the state level but all must cowtow to the allmight base/basket/foot/ball.

Whatever coach does replace Mr. Euverard is going to have the immediate monkey on his back of "Do I play these boys who have not played or practiced in over a year, or do I risk being sued?" You better believe politics is going to play a big role in this mess.
