alvistur needs to go down, he isnt good enough of coach to be a varsity coach, and it shows. they need to put alvistur down at jv and bump calwest(the jv coach) up to varsity cause in my opinion he is a hundred times a better coach than alvistur. If chico wants to good next year they need to get a new head coach

Several CHS players play both ways, and it obviously tires them out in the 2nd half. Several times this year CHS has had close games at halftime get away from them in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Alvistur should have been resting guys more often. Even NFL teams rotate out their best players for a breather here and there.

Alvie needs the whole program to improve. We have a weak freshman coach and that hasn't helped. PV's program is strong all the way through and that gives them a huge advantage.

We're losing players to PV and we need to turn around our reputation before we can attract the best players and coaches.

How does a program grow without stability?

How long has Alistur been in this position? Why call to get rid of him? How long you think it takes to rebuild an ENTIRE program?

Perhaps to complicate things, he coaches in CUSD where no one appears to be happy about anything no matter what position held.

Yes, talent gained for PV. Many of those coaches have contributed on some level for years and years. However, how does CHS attract better coaches if there is continual turnover? One would be hard pressed to build on something if only given a season or two.

Jason is a good guy and he didn't have much of a team this year. As Chico High has struggled, more of the athletes are going to other schools. That makes it tougher to develop a strong program. The principal there is kind of weak and the enviornment has suffered. All of that plays a significant part in the whole athletic program. If the school would improve you would see an equal improvement in the sports teams. You can't blame the results on Jason when the school needs a turnaround first.

I know a coach that will be available, he has taken his team to playoffs, he is the 2nd overall seed. Drum roll TONY ESPONDE

From what I see the program has very little support, lacks direction and discipline. It is difficult to support a program when few players are utilized through out the season. Many good players didn't continue from their JV year as they knew they would not play. It's tough for them work hard during practices to watch others play in the game. The coach must include them during the game - even if its special teams. Let them feel like they are part of the team. It's difficult for parents and alumni to support the program when we are not competitive. The record has nothing to do with being competitive as CHS has been blown out 5 of the last 6 games. A few years ago our record was .500 but we were in almost every game down to the last series. The program is not disciplined and they should be working with the Scorchers (they are now the feeder program to CHS), Freshman and JV to run a similar offense. Paradise Jr. Football runs the same offense as the High School and by the time the kids get to High School, they have played together for 4-5 years under the same offense. They have been successful for several years now and the Jr. teams coming up are looking very strong. The Head Coach has a tough job and has many responsibilities on and off the field. Coach Alvistur is not equipped to handle the entire job. CHS needs to bring in seasoned football coach and staff that does not have ties to the current administration, give the kids a fair chance of earning their spots, and gain support. If this happens, the program will gain support (although the record may not reflect right away), to be successful.

Completely agree, especially about the scorchers, it would be very beneficial over the winter to get together with them and somehow marry the two programs, it will only benefit both down the road. And as far as a earlier post about the coach from Durham, are you serious the last thing we need is someone else's dirty laundry. GO PANTHERS

You can't put it all on the coach. Chico High in general has gone downhill the last few years and people don't understand that the academics has an effect on the sports. As the reputation of the school has declined under Hanlon, the whole athletic program has too. Inspire High will pull a lot of kids too and that will compound it. You can't blame the charter because they're just trying to make a school that Chico High was supposed to but doesn't. My advice is to get some new people to turn around Chico High and its sports teams will do better. If you wait too long, the teams will really get bad and then it will take forever to get it going again.

Now maybe Coach Cooper is appreciated more. Alvie is a great guy but no coach has a chance at Chico High right now. It's embarrassing that we couldn't make the playoffs. I would agree that Hanlon is terrible and the school is suffering. People don't hesitate to change coaches but they don't do anything about Roth and Hanlon. The environment sucks and it does carry over to the teams unfortunately.

It ain't Alvistur's fault and you can pin it on Hanlon just because he's lousy. People forget he's a fairly new principal and probably should have started at a small school somewhere instead of a tough school like Chico High. The staff kind of runs him around and he is sort of a doofus. But that's not his fault. Whoever hired him is at fault. Move him to be a vice principal at an elementary or junior high to see if he can learn. If he can't do it at that level, then you know he can't be moved back to the high school. Someone needs to come into Chico High and kick some asssssssss.

Let's get this straight. It's Hanlon's fault? Does Hanlon coach the football team or is it Alvistur? I'm confused. So, if Alvistur would have made the playoff's and had a competitive team would that have been Hanlon's fault as well? What is Hanlon's fault is that he approved the hiring of Alvistur before he was ready to take on the responsibilities of being the Head Varsity coach.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
