No class at all. Cypress Lake has a pretty well established losing tradition going now and the frustration with that surfaces at inopportune times like Homecoming night. Probably would be best to cancel the last week of the season and get a head start on rebuilding for next year.

Now comes news of the rally held by the suspended players and their parents in an attempt to get Coach More reinstated. Forget about that notion. The principal has ruled - and she wants to move the football program forward, not keep it stuck in this controversy. The suspended players should be apologizing to the principal, Coach More, and the school community. Also, a 1 - 17 record is not exactly something to crow about. The axe was probably about to fall anyway. Sorry Coach, two seasons passed and your players never quite brought the 'A' game. God knows you tried.
Now, here's some reasoned advice for all parties involved:
Senior football players - concentrate on passing the FCAT and pack your bags for Edison State in the fall. Football scholarships are completely out of the question.
The principal - stay the course you have set. Hire a good assistant coach that is ready for the challenge out of South Fort Myers or from Collier County.
Coach More - now we hear that the refs told NBC-2 News that you were out of control during the game. For starters, adjust your perspective - football is a GAME. If you want to stay in football you will probably have to take a teaching position in Hendry County and work your way up through a middle school program. Or, you can stay in the LCSD and maybe you will be allowed to be an assistant coach for baseball or track, most likely at a school other than Cypress Lake. Be respectful of the officials of whatever sport you are involved in. Impressionable students are looking to you for guidance at all times. Disgrace takes some time and work to scrape off of your reputation. Apologize to the community - your healing starts there. Resolve to never be a bedwetter on the sidelines again.
Parents - how about rallying behind the principal and supporting turning the football program around in a positive direction? C'mon, you can do it! Give Junior some common-sense guidance on sportsmanship while you're at it.
Junior and underclassmen football players - If you commit to rebuilding the Cypress Lake football program, be prepared for a different kind of spring football season and summer practices than what you experienced before. Buy into your new coaches' program. He will be a professional. Commit to observing good sportsmanship at all times.
Now that we've paved the way for turning the football program around, how about organizing the school library?

Part II. When will the student athlete behavioral issues at Cypress Lake High School ever end, or at least not rise to the level of scandalous national media stories? Of course I am referring to the incident of 'bored' Cypress Lake High School girls basketball players cruising through a neighborhood near the high school and recording cell phone video of their fearless leader delivering a flying martial arts-style kick to the raised derriere of a 72 yr. old man who was bent completely over while tending to yard work and landscaping three days before Thanksgiving. A special adaptation and edition of the increasingly popular 'Knockout Game' practiced by African-American thugs.
Watching the principal, blubbering and emotional, approach the victim with TV cameras rolling and apologize for the incident as part of yesterday's march in support of non-violence and support of the victim, was the most thoroughly complete example of humiliation of a public servant one could imagine.
At least the girls varsity basketball coach did not get sacked as Coach More did, since the student athletes were not under his control when the assault was perpetrated.
Since so many nasty student behavioral issues are concentrated in this one high school, I, Ben Dover, call upon the School Board of the School District of Lee County, FL to mandate a character development course for all students attending Cypress Lake High School for two school years, commencing with the 2014-2015 school year; Common Core curriculum be damned, this is a community emergency!

Part III. Cypress Lake High School could not make it to the end of 2013 without serving up yet one more incident of student misconduct - the in-school fight involving two male students, one of whom is named Denzel Washington. The original Denzel Washington should have trademarked his name so he could sue for trademark infringement when the.Cypress Lake High School loser starts misbehaving. Two more Cypress Lake High School students off to a great start in life - getting arrested and jailed before gtaduating. What's next Cypress Lake?
