Summers County wins fifth straight title

Full story: Bluefield Daily Telegraph

They had one more game to play. One final mission. And four Summers County seniors - Hanna Gunnoe, Hallie Gunnoe, Leslie Mack and Kelsie Lively - did not disappoint as they closed the book Saturday on their part of one of the most illustrious four-year chapters in West Virginia high school sports history.

Lady Cats, So proud of your teams over the last few years, I live in Charleston and grew up in Hinton. we are so proud to see your championships over the last 5 years. Your coach seems to be a goodone as well, Mr Ryan seems to out coach the other teams and to go 5 years in a row is something to be proud of for sure. Come on (bobcat boys) and get yourself a winning season? Again thanks to your ball playing and making the old summers county back to a champion. Also a team to be scared of in girls basketball for sure. when i went to school they could only play half court and dribble two times and stop. So much better today, and some good players for sure. Thanks for the memiories girls.(PAWNMAN)
thanks

Thank you for the great compliment! The town is very proud of them also. Hinton had a little parade for them saturday night and rode them around town on fire trucks. People stood outside waving and blowing their car horns. I thought it was a great way of letting them know how special they were to this town.

I too am very proud of the girls and all of their accomplishments. However my daughter played on the state championship volleyball team also. I wonder why no special parade or anything was given to them then. Same girls same community same state title Hmmmm

I'm pretty sure that there's something being planned this Friday evening along the lines of a community pep rally.

*star some of that may have to do with that being the first championship we've won in volleyball -which was awesome, by the way! the homecoming from basketball states has been this way for awhile. Perhaps next year you should suggest the same homecoming for the volleyball players, and for all teams who win championships. We should all support all of our kids and let them know we're proud of their hard work.

Maybe the volleyball coach didn't plan it. Do you think the community just came out without any indication of what was going on for basketball? I don't think so.

You guys should be very proud!!!I live in Lewisburg, and love it when the Lady Bobcats come to Fairlea and whip up on a AAA school!!! Simply the best!! I have always wondered why GEHS doesn't play in Summers County. Why do they always play in Fairlea?
