Used to be that all incoming immigrants had to have medical checkups before coming in. What happened to those checkups? ACLU? Liberal lawyers? Are those two groups going to pay for all the medical bills for infected Americans?

bumpercrop., you are absolutely right. I too wonder what happened to medical checkups. Maybe Tahiti hasnthe right idea. You must have a return ticket to where you came from.

It's your kind of nonsense that fuels hate and ignorant reactions to issues. If you're going to make these kind of charges, show us some evidence.

I teach at a school where many students take annual month-long vacations to the Philippines (missing all that school, mind you). I'd like them to take TB tests upon their return. (Only first-time DOE enrollees are required to do that.) The only thing is that there's a two-week incubation after exposure to TB for the test to indicate exposure.

Well THANKS to whiteass foreigners for bringing all these foreign diseases to all the islands and standing back and looking at us as if its our fault...as these persistent diseases make a comeback. Some may not even know they have it until it is too late, and may not seek medical attention.

It is no excuse but islanders should know that to be informed and making informed decisions and in seeking medical attention, is the only way to beat the spread of TB...as well as other pesky and persistent diseases. I hear Hansen's disease-Leprosy is making a comeback and is on the rise as well.

kanani - i was responding to 'bumpercrop' who was calling for medical testing for incoming immigrants. i was pointing-out that we also have millions of tourists from around the world who visit the islands also. if you're calling for medical testing of immigrants, wouldn't testing for tourists be a prudent thing also?
