Hi guys, I have been treated with Cefuroxime for my apparent Strep throat infection (the doctor didn't do a throat swab but diagnosed it at one look). I was on cefuroxime for the whole course of medication and the swollen throat finally cured. since then my swollen tonsillar lymph node went down in size but it is still palpable on the left side. I went to the doctor again 2 weeks after the medication, and the doctor told me that, In the case of severe tonsillitis, even after antibiotic treatment, there will be scarring of the tonsils that cause it to be bigger than its usual size.
You guys heard of it? I am just worried and wondering why the size didnt go down completely. I was also wondering if strep infection can remain in the blood and cause small raised red spots on the skin?

Tonsilloliths are nothing but tonsil stones. Tonsilloliths may cause symptoms include a metallic taste, sudden coughing, throat closing or tightening and choking.
Large tonsilloliths may cause multiple symptoms, such as halitosis or bad breath, white debris, sore throat, and a bad taste at the back of your throat, difficulty swallowing, tonsil swelling and earaches.
Getting rid of tonsilloliths can be done without surgery easily. Small tonsilloliths which produce no symptoms can be treated at home using ear buds, tooth brush or fingers. Yet, of course this should be taken care carefully.
It is very advisable to make the area that has tonsilloliths moist by gargling warm salty water. If the tonsilloliths are easily seen (noticeable, big), then it is must be taken care by medical practitioner. Other treatments for tonsilloliths, such as:
Juice of carrot, beet, cucumber, is really helpful in the process of removing tonsil stones.
Fasting 3-5 days with fresh orange juice to eradicate tonsil stones.
Raw, ripened persimmon contains enzymes to destroy harmful substances, and damaged cells.
