I Did some more research on why the generic form of Plavix was taken off the market. It was due to a patent problem. Until the patent expires they can not sell the generic brand.

Hi, I had a stent put in August 19,2009 Im on Plavix, ASPRIN, CRESTOR AND CARDIVELOL. I have recently had bleeding from places you shouldnt bleed from ,bottom, ears , even my tears. The people who put me on the Plavix test say it probably doesnt have anything to do with the PLAVIX. Im going to reguest the new genetic test to see if Im jn danger from the long term exposure of blood thinning drugs. Im feeling weak and in pain as if something was trying to rip the muscles from my bones....No way is it fibromalga or whatever. I know people whose doctors keep piling on more drugs for each symtom. I dont want blood clots but this is scary too. What should we be able to do to convince the doctors we are all unigue and what works for one may just not work for all.I just turned fifty and I want to live.

My husband has been taking PLAVIX for 4 years now. It wsa prescribed after a Carotid ultrasound which indicated >60% blockage in the Carotid arteries on the left and right side of his neck. Annual repeats of the ultrasound proves normal, yet he has not been taken off the PLAVIX. I suggested to thehis doctor that since the blockage had been cleared over the years, my husband should be taken off PLAVIX, but his doctor daid no!

RICHARD did you go back to your cardiologist and ask him what to do? The best advice you can get is to ask him first. We are all only patients on this site , not medical professionals that know tyour case.

helen yes i did and they were very upset that took me off plavix. i explained to the cardiologist they were trying to stop my internal bleed by doing that. im in a catch 22 situation do i go back .on plavix and take a chance on bleeding to death or do i stay off it and take a chance the arterys could occlude and i could have a heart attack and die. its almost like pick your poison. i was just told by my dr i can go back on plavix in 7 days.that means i will be off it 15 days.i pray it did not do any damage thank you

richard. Are you taking aspirin also. If so your cardiologist may think that will help for the 7 days. I know I take a plavix and a full aspirin every day and have since 2006. I have 8 stents, and I was told to stay on plavix and aspirin when I had my cataracts out. The only problems I've had is black and blue marks every so often. Guess I'm a lucky one. Helen

First of all, the FDA never approved the use of Plavix for patients who have been given stents, and second the recommended dosage of 75 mg is 4 times the safe dose as determined by clinical studies

As an addition to my last post, the FDA sent the makers of Plavix a warning for recommending Plavix for patients with stents back in 2008, and for stating that Plavix works better then aspirin, when in fact it does not. In many people, especially those with high blood pressure and stents, Plavix raises your chance of stroke or heart attack significantly. Monday I am going to cardio and have myself weaned off the Plavix

Are you using Plavix or the generic form, which is not supposed to be sold here till the Plavix copyright expires. Bristol Meyers took a company to court over it . I called the Med Store and all I got was the runaround.

I think if you were off of plavix for 13 days, you may be able to stop it completely but it may be playing russian roulette.. Not a doctor so I don't know. I do know that I have been on Plavix for about 3 1/2 years and was told recently that I can stop the Plavix now and take just a baby aspririn.. Not sure what to do.. I feel like I am playing fire...

Did you get off of the Plavix? My doctor told me the other day I could stop taking Plavix and I am a little nervous... I have been on it for about 3 1/2 years so far. If you did stop taking it, how did it go and how are you feeling now??

Your response is greatly appreciated

Thanks.

I have been on plavix almost 2 years now with no side effects ..although I can say be carefull when working with sharp objects because taking aspirin and plavix can thin out yer blood and a big gash or cut can be life threatning you would actually have to apply a tournequit if its possible..other than that I see no bad effects.

To get off of plavix I think would require a strick diet of no bad fats or colesterol eating would become a science because stints do not last long especially if you dont watch yer eating habits plavix helps but still it requires your efforts so quiting plavix is not easy to guess ..it could go bad instead of good....
plus I think it goes generic in 2011 so it will be cheaper hopefully ..this drug has been a cash cow for phiser they have literally made billions off this drug by milking the insurance companies to the tune of $200 month or more...

I had a stent put in 12/08 in the RCA, have been on plavix and a 325 mg asprin since. Also taking statin drugs( which I have since had to stop due to leg muscle and joint pain ) now taking 4 grams Rx fish oil, red rice yeast, and 2 grams niaspan. I want to stop the plavix and replace it with 3 grams of Krill oil. Whats your thoughts on this? already taking a lot of blood thinners.

I'd been on heart DRUGS for years. I cut the DRUGS down a sliver at a time over a period of a couple of months. Guess what happened? My blood pressure went down to 120/70, I lost 30 lbs without trying, I felt like I was 30 years old again, my feet quit swelling, I felt happy instead of depressed, I had energy and motivation, and ALL the angina stopped. No more ambulance rides to ER! I stayed this way for 2 (TWO) and 1/2 years!!

Then I caught pneumonia from someone. It was a serious case. I had to go back on blood pressure pills because the pneumonia kicked up my blood pressure, making my heart work harder, it was hard to breathe, and boom! Back on the DRUGS that caused the same symptoms it was suppose to eliminate.

I'm in no way suggesting anyone do what I did. I also put a lot of prayer into this before I stopped the DRUGS. I'm simply sharing my experience.

Has anyone ever thought that many of DRUGS they're given cause..or make worse the disease that they're suppose to prevent or help? Big Pharma & the FDA (they're in bed together) don't give a rats butt about you. It's all about #####.

Hello Gene,

Great idea to want to get off Plavix. Just my opinion. Plavix = Russian Roulette.

Someone from "YES" (Essential Fatty Acids) told me that fish oil is actually harmful to health and explained why. It's not the same kind of fish oil that was used in the "old days." Now it's just mashed up fish. He elaborated the details of it's harm and how it could possibly cause death, but I forgot the details.

Based on my experience, anything the Health Care System says will be "good" for our health immediately puts me on high alert. From the horrendous effects on my health from their "meds," nearly lethal mistakes and neglect, as far as I'm concerned they're equal to witches selling potions that create more disasters than they help. Back in my day all the Doctors were humble, kind and sacrificed to help their patients. Not anymore. Most act more like mini-Gods and/or Gestapos than they do Doctors.

Here's something you might want to consider:

Natural Supplement Alternative to Plavix:

http://www.raysahelian.com/nattokinase.html

Tested and proven to work. It's been in use for 20 years.

Hope this helps.
