Hello,
I am 32 years old and sufferred a small stroke on August 7. I am doing pretty well except for some numbness in my left hand and SEVERE headaches. Has anyone ever experienced severe headaches after having a stroke? I was put back in the hospital earlier this week because the pain was so bad, and nothing I was taking was having any effect on it. Even in the hospital, I was on an IV of dilaudid and that only helped minimally. I came home on Wednesday and the headaches had abated somewhat, but now they are back and as painful as ever. This is especially hard because I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 16 month old and am having trouble taking care of them, even just getting out of bed is difficult. At the hospital the neurologists ran several more tests and could not pinpoint a reason why I am having these headaches. Did this ever happen to any of you, and if so, what did you do about it? I can't live like this.... Thank you!

Hi I'm a Pharmacist in South Africa and I had a case of a 77 year old female patient with intense headache after a major stroke. I'm still trying to find out whether this could be treated like a normal pain syndromme experienced usually by persons on HIV/TB medication. For this patients an opioid analgesic plus trepiline does help somewhat. Other people have recommended non-conventional ways of treating this including yoga, gym, etc. I hope to find out how best this can be sorted. My advise is that don't sit down and let the headache get to you. I encourage you to keep going to specialists and keep yourself busy with some good work and family fun activities.Keep well

My husband had a stroke and after 3 1/2 months he was having trouble doing anything because of severe headaches. A particular bad pain was around his eye. He went for acupuncture and got relief immediately. The person he goes to is very knowledgable and knows how the muscle and nerve groups all work. Hope this helps.
