Acupuncture helps positioning low blood pressure, pain in limbs post SCI. It also helps regain some motor and sensory functions as well as bowel and urination functions. I found that Zhu's scalp acupuncture is much more helpful than the traditional acupuncture. But it requres more then 3 months to see the results. Most of the patients are required 6 monthes to 1 year acupuncture tx.
Dr. Ming Qing Zhu is a national renown acupuncture doctor and he has over 45 years experience in acupunctue and he has helped countless patients with neurological problems, including stroke, coma, spinal cord injury, neuropathy.

In my acupuncture practice, I have seen good results with many SCI patients in less than three months, using a combination of traditional body point and scalp acupuncture, although some patients do take longer to see improvement than others. Improvements in sensation, motor function, and bowel and bladder function are common, even for patients > six months post-injury.

I would be happy to share techniques and information with any acupuncturist treating SCI patients. I can be reached by e-mail at acumother( insert "at" symbol here)

In fact ,traditional medcine can not be accept by all the SCI patients even in China,I can not believe acupuncture will be a main clinical method to SCI patients.
