Duhhhhh welcome to the 21st century people.. It is a leading cause of liver damage/failure, among many other organs like blood vessels, stomach, heart, and brain health. Highly addictive, drunk driving deaths, alcohol poisoning, etc.....

Marijuana helps treat diseases and disorders, all alcohol does is kill your organs and make you feel terrible afterwards. Weed>Booze. it's not even a matter of opinion, these are facts.

The comparison, though, implies that the purpose of each is the same. The fact is that supporting the right to impair yourself for fun--whether via alcohol or via THC--is absurd. The fact that people use the damage alcohol does--to family and to society as well as to individuals--to justify adding to the number of legal ways to indulge in that impairment is bad enough on the surface. The fact that the same argument is used to influence children to take up the use of drugs that are illegal adds enough to make this one of the stronger reasons for a return of prohibition.

Highly addictive, drunk driving deaths, alcohol poisoning, etc..... Look up marijuana and heart attacks and strokes; I don't have the time..gotta sleep! It is definitely BAD for those two parts! It IS good for Ms, Cancer treatment-tolerance, & glaucoma, that seems to bear out! There are rising percentages of middle age+ people having heart attacks. It raises then lowers your blood pressure; 1-2 hours after smoking. Usually 1 hour..then you get drowsy when your BP drops. That up & down can cause your carotid artery to get "jossled" and give off deposits of "placque" and block your blood flow into your heart. After the heart attack it's really common to have strokes and when your brain is needing to heal you smoke pot and you will deprive yourself of ozygen. It can cause fibrillation of your heart; that's when it feels like it's galloping out of your chest. chronic afibrillation is even worse; it's ALL the time fluttering & doesn't flush out the blood efficiently so it can thicken and cause a damaging stroke...or also commonly just stop your heart. My husband almost died last Christmas when this happened to him and now he has the chronic afib and will not listen and keeps on tokin'. They want him on coumadin and I read the pot is suspected of increasing the effects of coumadin(makes you bleed). And he keeps on tokin'. Says I don't want him to be comfortable and this is from a guy who just celebrated his 29th year dry in AA. Goes to MANY MANY meetings and tells then what he wants to for their approval and then goes out to eat afterwards with them. It has been a secret life/social cult for him. You have to be really careful now that the courts are sending child molesters and criminals there if they were "using" when they committed the crime. Also there are many old farts hitting on younger women who come into the program in a very low & vulnerable state looking for a "keeper". There is no authority figure that keeps the meetings safe or cals anyone on their BS. Two government studies have found it less than helpful. Project Match & one by the NIAADA(sp?)...sorry I will look that one up. It's in Psychology today, in an article by or about Stanton Peele.

Project Match & one by the NIAADA(sp?)...sorry I will look that one up. It's in Psychology today, in an article by or about Stanton Peele. Has anyone "out there" looked up any of these issues? My husband is living proof of what happens. It IS good for some things, but that doesn't justify going around in a state of intoxication when you DON'T have those other health issues that is does help! It is too late for my husband; the damage is done to his 65 yr. old heart. He will never be the same; and probably won't live long enough to get the treatment for his chronic afib. He was and IS an extremely heavy user; every 3-4 hours during the day until he goes to bed. Now that he is facing having a cardio-version device implanted in his chest and having to take Coumadin, which causes heavy bleeding and a lot of bruises under the skin...NOW he wants to read what is being found after all the renewed research that is going on. I think it helped to get away from the booze (30 yrs. ago!!) like a step-down drug, but it is a bitter pill to find out how it puts a huge strain on your heart, ESPECIALLY after middle-age. If anyone else out there can find out anything that says otherwise, PLEASE PLEASE put up a link!! It is too bad that it was made illegal and the research was one-sided in the PAST, but this is now. Again, I researched many many reports and pages on the internet and I still feel it is a good drug for certain things. If you are smoking it, at least get a vaporizer since the act of smoking robs your body of oxygen and that is not good for ya! My husband also had a TIA stroke and a "bleeder" in his brain...does anyone think it's good to rob your brain of oxygen while it is healing from something like that?

I understand what you are saying and agree. Pot has earned a place in helping cancer, ms, and glaucoma, but how many stoners actually have those diseases? Chronic use of it year after year has consequences and when someone doesn't have the diseases that it helps, then many people need to wake up and look at the statistics that are just maturing about the baby-boomers and the increase of heart attacks. It is a bitter pill to find out the hard way. I'm sure there have been a lot of accidents (car), also, from people lighting up while driving, or fumbling for the lit roach they just dropped! Noone has gotten a ticket UNLESS the police smell it in the car, but it is a big distraction.
