I just finished 40 or so of these posts ( it's now 4:08 am). I've been awake since 2:57. Like many of you my head is filled with concerns about the future. I toss and turn and worry sometimes until daylight and go through the next day like a zombie. To quiet you mind and get back to sleep right away try this: lay in one position pick a random number like 177 and begin counting. Tell yourself you can't change positions until you reach that number. Here's the trick: as you name each number imagine what that number looks like. Don't let your mind wander. Really concentrate on the visual. When you reach your target number. Pick a new one. Change positions and start counting again. Works like a charm. Many times I'm out before I reach the first number. Try it. Ifcthis works for anyone I would love to hear about it. Any other solutions out there? Or just problems?

"Is there anything I can do in my daily habits to stop this?... Any ideas??"
Hello friend! Here is what you need to do:
A. BEFORE GOING TO BED:
1. do not drink any coffee, tea or alcohol for 3 hours
2. go to bed not later than 10pm every day exactly at the same time, plus-minus 5 min
3. do it for at least one week before it starts working
4. check temperature in your bedroom: it should be not more than 68F
5. dim lights or turn them off
6. lay down on you back and exercise your toes and ankles by gripping and rotating motion
7. do the same with you neck muscles
8. relax all your body
BEFORE FALING ASLEEP:
1. look right in front of you and visualize 5 white circles on the opposite wall
2. start looking onto every circle, one after another, in a clockwise motion.
3. Start slowly and gradually increase the spinning speed until your eyes feel tired
4. close your eyes and continue spinning you point of view along those 5 circles, right in your mind
5. do not concentrate on them, just let your eyes do the rotation
IF YOU FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTION -- YOU WILL FALL ASLEEP IN LESS THAN 10 SECONDS IN A WEEK TIME!
WAKING UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT:
1. falling asleep in the middle of the night is as simple as to do the last 5 steps
2. average time before falling asleep is from 3 to 9 sec
For more information please see www.MasterYourSleep.com , read articles, and leave me your comments. I'll answer them all.

You shouldn't say this because you might start with the some problem. Believe me I have the same problem and this is no fun at all. You don't want it.

Thanks, good ideas. So true about the coffee. For me anyway. Nothing worse than being the only person awake in the house allllllllllllnight.

The weird part with me is that for the past three days i've been getting up at 3am. On the third day, right before I went to sleep, I told myself that I hoped I would not get up at 3am. Well later in the night, I hear my car alarm. It woke me up from my sleep and I looked at my watch and guess what, it was 3am on the dot! It was a little spooky, I'm not to sure if something/someone is trying to wake me up at this time. Spiritual?

Go to bed at 3:01 and you will NEVER wake up at 3AM!

I have the same sort of problems. This has just started 2 weeks ago when my break is nearly over. I wake up at 2:30 - 4:00 every single day. And usually I feel like going to pee. After that, I usually lie on the bed and stay there for an hour or two but no success at getting back to sleep at all. The next day, I usually feel very tired and sleepy at around 11:00 am. But I stop feeling sleepy after 5:00 pm, if I can make it that far.
I wish I could find out the real reasons causing this. General practitioner are all dumb. They can't even diagnose IBS. All they can do is to ask you to take medicine that won't help.

Do you sleep alone, or with a kangaroo? If with a roo, this could be your problem!

I have been waking up at 3am sharp for quite some time as well. Have you heard of "dead time"? It freaks me out like no other, but I am a believer of spirits. When you're alone, do you feel like someone is with you? See shaddows from the corner of your eyes? Sounds crazy, but Im trying to see if maybe we all have something else in common.

I agree I wake up at 3am every night and feel a presence near me i catch shadows and feel my bed shake and it scares me and i can't get back to sleep. Some nights its so bad i wake up shaking so bad i cant talk. All i want is to sleep and i average about 7 hours of sleep a week. I don't know how i function but i do. I do believe in spirits good and bad. The presence i feel gives me an uneasy feeling some times but most the time i don't feel threatened, Some times i feel safe even though i still can't sleep. Idk if it's because in my mind i know some thing is there or what but its driving me crazy.
