I get electric tingling shocks in my head and back of neck upon waking up up sometimes. I am always conscious I am dreaming and then become paralized right before the electric feeling comes. I hear a rushing buzzing sound in my ears. This is very scary and can last up to about 45 seconds before I finally wake up and am no longer paralized. A couple times when I finally was awake, I felt shaking and hallucinted. Does anyone know what this is or has this happened to anyone else?? I do know that substance which put me into light sleep stages (such as antihistimine or alcohol) usually cause this to happen.

Sleeping paralysis, yes, it happens to me every now and then, always during naps at daytime. I always hear a buzzing sound too. If I try really hard to move the sound seems to make my whole head vibrate - like electricity.

I get this after drinking alcohol at night, it is quite strange because altough I feel paralised I can force myself to sit up after about 30 seconds or so. I occasionly take antihistomines and they do it also. Breathing feels harder also.
The mose recent time this happened was last night hence why I googled it now. I was asleap for about an hour when the "shocks" started and I woke up but I was still dreaming. As the "shocks" got stronger then sort of peaked and i swear it scared the crap out of me, the girl from the movie "The Exorcist" was lying on the celieng smiling back at me which freaked me out enough to wake myself up and sit up.

hi yes i am a christian and i do get shock waves, but i also do a lot of fighting mostly with people i have never seen before, i have also shared the gospel with some scary looking people, and see children in diffrent places looking for my help, i have also been in a place leading people out and speaking in a langue that i have never heard, i am mainly into closing doors at the moment, is there anything you can tell me to help me understand this , i belive i am a servant of the living God who i love so much with all my heart, ther are times i get confused and feel right now like talking to someone who knows what i am talking about, i pray now in the name of Jesus Christ for protection in all i am doing here today and thank him for keeping all doors closed against the enemey, God bless all who are His like only He knows how. thank you for psalm 35.

I have been getting these symptoms for about 4 years now. For me If I start to rest I feel slight shocks and then become paralyzed after that I get the buzzing If I try to sleep and not fight to move it gets worse if I fight it It stays the same. I am scared for no apparent reason like ultimate doom scared. Sometimes I feel the zapping fully awake as of late. My medicine man thinks I may have a gift and need to sort it out I have no other answers. I have dreams sometimes in the states that I can piece together. I started having them in Iraq of all places. The only good thing is that in the later stages sometimes it can be euphoric. I also feel like someone is touching me or pulling me off of the couch or bed. I have seen doc's in Germany and all over the US and they have no clue. I get severe audio hallucinations but am always almost full awake.

sounds to me like you really need Jesus Christ,we all ned Jesus Christ, i belive what is going on in your life is spirtual and i dont mean spirtual to take lightly, there is another world that runs right along beside our world meaning our world is the world pf the flesh, the only way you can protect yourself is asking Jesus Christ into your heart where he will abide, get yourself a bible and read it, before you do ask the Lord to open your ears and your heart so you can hear what he wants to say to you. you must be born again and Jesus and the cross is the only way, what you are feeling in your life is very real and dangerous for you if you if you mess around with it, remember Jesus loves you, no greater love had one man for another that he should lay down his life.

i have had this expierence about nine times now. it started about a year ago and happends almost once a month. just last night i finally had it again, i was dreaming that i was in a room with my x girlfriend and she told me she had to leave. so a minute or so after she left i suddenly felt alone in my dream. as soon as i said in jesus name i pray i got this INTENSE buzzing/shocking feeling that ran thruogh my body uncontrolably. some people say to let it consume u blah blah but no way in hell because that is a terrifying feeling. it usually last about 10 to 30 seconds and the more i pray the harder it hits me. ive been researching alot and some people say its all these sleep disorders.... bull shit .... what i feel and felt while half asleep and yes i was consious is somthing very demonic but it only happends right when i start praying. and when i jump out of it i feel uncomfortable like somthing is right there until i get the nerve to get my but up and take a shower or whatever. for one i know im not crazy because im a very sain kid. pretty popular im 17 have alot going for me ... but the better i do it seems like whatever this thing is that its trying to bring me down .. if anyone has any idea at all what this might b let me know ... thx

omg! This has been happening to me for over a year. Ive noticed that it usually happens when I am worried, usually if i wake up and go back to sleep. For a while I wanted it to happen so I could just go with it but every time it happens i get super scared I feel like my soul is leaving my body. Ive also noticed that I have nightmares before it happens. I also had a scary girl laughing at me right before it happened. I used to think that maybe our souls leave our body all the time and we are just not supposed to be awake but for some reason we wake up. but now after reading all of your comments im worried. I feel vibrations, i feel like i am leaving my body and i used to feel like someone was pulling my brain. Everytime its a little bit different and its never happened while someone else was in the room. I used to think maybe it was just a dream but ive actually had dreams about this and i can tell the difference. If anybody has any more info please post!!!

no body is crazy, this is very real if you pray then keep praying, only when we pray and stay near to jesus will satan flee yes i said satan because that is who is behind all evil, yes he is there trying all the time to get control of who ever he can, the only safe way is Jesus if you do not know him just ask him in, knock and the door will be opened ask and you will receive, for God sent his only begotten son Jesus christ so that who so ever should belive shall not perish but have eternal life, it is a dark place one i will agree if you do not have Jesus i would not even want to dream about, so if you are reading this and you are scared well dont just call on Jesus i urge you to take this serious as what you are experiencing is very serious, and with that i sign off and leave you and with the love of Christ Jesus i will pray for you.

Yeah I could not have put it better to describe what I feel. When it happens, it only really happens when I'm just drifting off to sleep. And the longer I leave it the harder it gets and I feel like a bit of my brain might pop and I'll die or become disabled or something like after a stroke in some cases. I can kind of balance the feeling as well, until I finally have to 'jolt' myself out of it. I'm at the point of tears when I get out of it just from shear fright and terror for no reason, it truly is unexplainable. But it seems it must be pretty common, why are there no medical answers if this happens to so many people? I don't want to die one day because I was experimenting with it when it happens, or get 'locked-in' syndrome.
