New Tax Burns Local Tanners, Tanning Owners

Managers at London's tanning salons feel burned over the new 10 percent tanning tax, which went into effect July 1. "We think it's awful," Exotic Tan Manager Maggie Lewis said.

I think this 10% tax is a bunch of crap. I think this will hurt alot of people's businesses. I for one, don't plan on quitting the tanning salons, but do, however, plan on slacking down, the money I would normally spend plus the 10% tax, I can save up and buy my own tanning bed, which is what I plan to do. So, the government should realize there is a way around this and the only thing they are doing is hurting the businesses. Plus, if people intend to buy their own tanning bed, which will give them the opportunity to get in on their own time whether it be 5 in the morning or midnight, this may increase as they mention the risk of skin cancer. So, in my opinion they sprung something on us that they didn't fully think through, because this is not something that will help things.

it will hurt the small salons,some salons went up on the price and told people they would absorb it,should if they go up

Who would ever use a tanning bed so they can get cancer. Some one has to pay for there treatments? Have to cut them big chunks out for skin cancer.

everyone has their own opinion and like doing their own thing, so if its not hurting you, whats it matter?
