I know exactly how you feel. I am 28 yrs. old and my shingles started exactly 3 years ago and I have had them 16 times since April of 2004. They are limited to my right leg and have come up on various spots (knee, ankle, calf). First off, how old are you? If you are under 65, it is very rare for a reoccurance like you explained. Also, do you have any immune deficiencies? Like Lupus? You need to ask your Doctor to put you on Valtrex, not any other anti-virals. It must be Valtrex if you have reoccuring shingles. Also ask about suppresive therapy, unless you are able to predict an outbreak by the usual symptoms (burning, tingling, numbness). Hope this helps!

Thank you so much coco for your help, i have had some blood test done & my white blood cells are very low again.
I am 46 years old & i get it on the cheek of my bum, so sitting & laying down gets very painful. The doctor doesn't want me to go on the Valtrex because of the side effects. i will ask about the therapy & i can some times tell when they coming back out as i get a itching or tingling symptom.
Thank you again coco, you have helperd me.

I am 58 and have had shingles many times...never a full blown case as I took Valtrex as soon as I realized it was shingles. I now take L-Lysine (vitamin supplement) 1000 mg. a day, and have not had an outbreak in over a year. Read about this in a health journal. The L-Lysine blocks the virus. I have found my miracle!

I am a 45 year old woman.
I had my first small lesion of shingles 5 years ago. I had no idea what it was. I thought it was a spider bite. The following year it came back but on another area and it was very PAINFUL and itchy. It was all down my left arm, on the roof of my mouth and on my butt cheek. It now is a regular occurrence. I do not take anything for it. I am healthy, no immune problems, no illnesses. However, now I am getting worried due to the fact that it comes back at least three times a year. At the moment it is on my bum and the roof of my mouth.

the most common reason for reoccuring shingles is actually caused by the herpes simplex virus and not herpes zoster which is the true shingles virus.

I have had shingles once. Never again I hope.
A traditional cure in Ireland is to put the blood of a well person all over the shingles lesions e.g. husband, wife etc. They simply prick their finger with a pin and when it bleeds they smear the blood all over the lesions. Let it dry out and repeat if necessary. The white blood cells in their blood (which are working properly) stimulates your immune system to work properly. It is dramatically successful. And cheap.

hi all

I got the shingles about a week ago, and all of you who have gone (and like me, are going) through this nightmare my prayers are with you.

I was given oxycodone and some herpes related drug and I can tell you that never in my life have I agonized as much as I am now.

Hopefully this will be my first and last time meeting this wretched virus!

For the Pain, See a chiropracter ASAP, to administer you Laser, Infra Red and Accupuncture.
It works!! I've had 7 sessions and the pain is leaving me. The Laser was the most effective pain reliever. I also take 3000 mg Vit.C, Lysin 1000 mg to 2000 mg a day, and Lecithin granules, 2
spoons a day to heal and possible nerve damage from the virus.
The Dr. who treated me is Dr. Dimerman in Thornhill. His fees are $35 per session. The 1st session costs about $60. He came to my rescue, and its like a miracle that the pain is leaving me. I've never experienced such pain in my life time. I'm 60 y.o. who has had breast cancer, but never knew such pain exists.

Answer: Apply retinol A cream once a day on area.
it help heal and get rid of outer skin layer faster. Also open up vit. A&D capsule and rub on area for faster healing.

Anyone having shingles that many times should have tests done to determine if he/she has an immune deficiency of some kind.

Hello all. I am a 25 (soon to be 26 in a few days) year old white male. When I was about 14 I had my first outbreak of this God Awful thing (called Shingles). I was a carefree, normal 14 yr old. I noticed that while in class one day I had a sore in my ear, and when I picked at it (yep, picked at it...I know, go me) a clear goo-ey fluid came out. Not thinking anything about it, I let it go. About 3 weeks later, not only did I have sores all down my face, but the right side of my gace had started to "fall off". Now imagine, or remember if you would, being a 14 year old going to school with this!! My mother took me to a Dr, and he told us what it was. They put me on some kind of meds and it went away with-in 2 weeks. Now.....moving on to present day. About 3 weeks ago, I noticed the same sores, same pain and tingling, but didn't "conect" the dots. So 3 weeks pass by. I tired EVERYTHING, even the hippi herbal things my step-dad offered. And by the way FYI, Tea Tree oil is the WORST thing to put on a shingles rash. It not only dried all the skin around the infected area, but smells BADDDD! And being that were already in this spot, thats just one more thing to add to an already growing list. So today I wake up and I feel like there is a swiming pool in my ear.(left side of my face this time). And the pain is so bad!! I mean it feels like someoe is kicking me in the side of the face with a hot boot. From my eye to the bottom of my neck. Anyways I go to the ER where they identify it from the start. As soon as I said "I had that when I was a kid", they told me that the Dr. must have been wrong because "I would have a better chance of winning the lotto, then having shingles twice without suffering from HIV/AIDS or some other immune thing. Anyways they tell me to take the anti-virul meds and give me 5mg Perks for the pain. So I dnt know how well its going to work. My face STILL itches, there still leaking and the PAIN! The pain is still BAD BAD BAD! I was ok until the morphine wore off. Now even with taking 8 perks since 6pm (its now 3am) im still in pain! Does anyone know how long the pain last?

My Mother said that I had shingles when I was 8 months old. She took me to the doctor and that is what the doctor told her along with some old ladies in the community. The shingles appeared around my waist. I didn't hae any shingles until I was a teenager, I went for years and there was no sign until I got into my 20's. I have outbreaks at least 3 to 4 times per year. They are on either side of by lower back or upper hip. I also have terrible back pain with the outbreaks.

Hi! I am 22 years old. When I was pregnant back in April, I got shingles and then it went away when they gave me Valtrex. Then about a month ago I got it again and the doctor gave me some nerve pain meds and Valtrex. I just woke up this morning and noticed I have itching in the same place where the shingles was and its starting to look like shingles. How can I get this to go away forever? I have a 4 month old baby girl that will catch it very easily. Help please!

Now its October, and I find myself with more blisters appearing... I thought I would be done with this!!! I just feel so ugly! I want my normal self back so badly!!!!

I am 29 and my first shingles outbreak was December of '08 on my back, along my arm, and into my armpit. I am now in my second outbreak and this time it started on my chin and is working its way down my neck...AWESOME!!!! UGHHH. I know it is because of stress I am just worried that maybe something else could be wrong with my immune system.
