Hello guys,
I got treated with ivermectin 3 weeks ago, and last week i repeated the dose. When will this stop? I can't stand scratching myself anymore.
Thank you.

you usually need to use at least a couple of treatments together to get rid of scabies. Chances are that you're still infected. Get hold of some permethrin cream 5% at least and apply head to toe including scalp while using ivermectin. Search these forums thoroughly and sort the wheat from the chaff as far as info goes- theres some great advice and some silly stuff. Usually natural remedies don;t work with scabies and you need 'the big guns' like iver and perm together.

Iver and perm might work if you haven't had this very long otherwise you are wasting your time with that stuff. Iver and perm together are talked about a lot on this forum and it fails 49 out of 50 times.
They are now obsolete because of resistance. If you read this forum for over a year daily like I have you'll come to understand that.

people go on google do a little research and then come back spewing stuff about iver and perm but all the vets here know otherwise. The people here that get cured are using something else.

I hate to break it to you but Iver doesn't kill eggs and the gap you had between doses was way too long and Iver quits working all together after you take it a couple times.

For anyone who doubts this go read the whole imidacloprid thread, it will give you a big picture history of Iver and perm failures.

hello daniel
I used two doses of ivermectin and a topical also. I kept notes of my symptoms on my phone, just to keep track. It took about three and a half weeks for the itching and bumps to subside after the second dose of ivermectin. I still had spots appear during this time, and I am certain that was post scabies. Personally I think over-treatment is bad, if they are not immune already this will definitely make them so. Moisturiser (scabies like dry skin) and strong allergy medication like polaramine helps. I dealt with scabies for four months until I was cured. Watch your skin, if it returns to its initial state you have probably been reinfected.

Also I agree the ivermectin doses should have been closer together but hey, im not a doctor and they seem useless to many people here.

In my (medically uninformed) opinion, the success rate of whatever treatment you use will depend on whom you caught scabies from (and what country). If that person has doused themselves in permethrin or taken loads of ivermectin with no sucess, you end up with treatment resistant scabies. I believe for this reason permethrin was not effective for me, as it is first choice treatment in many countries and entirely out-dated.

Thank you guys!
Well, it's my 5th month of itchyness. I was treated with several allergy medications and only in the last month i was diagnosed with scabies.
Well, i'm using a topical (benzyl benzoate) and it SEEMS to be working, but i'm not quite sure.
I've got no more itchy red bumps, BUT i'm still itchy, is that normal? Sometimes one or another dot appears, but it goes away really fast and it's my second week after the second dose of ivermectin.
Lemme know what you guys think, thank you again!

True, perm hasn't worked for me and trying iver this week. After that more big guns. Thanx for the tip of the imidacloprid thread.

hey again daniel
benzyl benzoate and ivermectin is exactly what cured me so im hoping you will be fortunate too :) bb alone cleared my skin perfectly for three weeks, then the scabies returned so I tried permethrin (horrible). I think it was the combination of bb and ivermectin in the end that did the trick. I planned on doing some more applications of bb after the second dose of ivermectin, but the itchies and random spotting do dissapear and it wasn't necessary. Best of luck!

My daughter came home from JOB CORP with Scabies. My husband, my three year-old and myself are were infested as a result. We ahve been fighting since june. we were misdiagnosed 3 times, so it got bad. have treated us all 3 times with permithrin 5%. We still have it. I am OC cleaning daily, and have ordered sulfer soap to try, as well and will try some of the other remedies I have seen on this thread. I feel helpless, most of all I have a child to treat as well not just my self. This is a living nightmare, and I am terribly depressed. I hope this works.

Hello "Depressed",
I guess it's working for me (ivermectin + benzyl benzoate), you should try! I'm still itchy, as I said, but it's getting better over time! Now there are no more red bumps, and i'm not scratching myself to death anymore, and i can sleep pretty well.
Hope we'll all get rid of it! I also bought a "fabric steamer" (this should be the name) so i'm using it on my bed and pillows everyday, trying to kill these monsters with the heat.
Btw, i'm using the soap Benzyl Benzoate, and the lotion twice a week.

Hi depressed, use the perm cream every day for a week on everyone. Use it top of head to toes, including scalp and face. You may also need two doses of ivermectin (Stromectol) each in conjunction with the cream. Strip all of your environment of everything, wash all walls, floors etc in Borax. Wash all clothes in hottest possible water with Arm +Hammer powder (or equivalent) +borax. Throw what textiles you can afford to. Clean all the rest same as clothes. Sofas and mattresses can be treated thoroughly, dried and bagged in plastic. If you have carpet either have it ripped out or treat thoroughly many times. Its a long process but necessary otherwise you can end up re-infected from clothes, furniture, other people or your environment.

Hi everyone,
I treated myself with just 1 dose of Ivermectin 7 weeks ago but did not do a follow up treatment as this was not recommened to me.. the scabies then came back a week or so later....after getting more Ivermectin 3 weeks later, I've treated myself twice with Ivermectin 1 week apart and with Benzyl Benzoate every day inbetween. After 10 days, I have now stopped treating and am just moisturising in a hope i have post scabies. The red dots have lessoned but I still have some new ones and I am still very itch between 8pm- 2am but hardly itchy at all in the day. Is this just a post scabies itch or this late night itching a sure sign i still have it. If i do still have live scabies then it seems I am immune to Ivermectin! In which case what do I do? I am so deeply unhappy. Any advice regarding this please please help.

I'd applied skinneal (ketoconazole-based) cream on my itchy bumps for over a wk b4 I realised the bumps were scabies. I've used Tetmosol medicated soap twice daily for 1wk. Just 2days ago I started applying 25% Benzyl Benzoate once daily. Yesterday I took a single dose (4 tablets) of Ivermectin. As I write, almost all the bumps are still fluid-filled and grossly itchy. Someone give me an alternative remedy. I'm extremely depressed, distracted & withdrawn. Thanks!

Hi I applied permithian for three days along with oral medicine and also again after a month. My last dose was on 6th March. Still the nodules in the private parts itch and also I get the occasional ichy bumps which dissappear. Can I get reinfected again.

Thanks

i only come here occasionally now, having been scabies-free for nearly a year. still really feel for you all, i guess that is why i keep coming back. i am hoping 'please help' has been cured by now.

for all it is worth, i am still adamant that perm is no good, and iver and BB are the way to go. my skin was still horrible after i did iver (stromectol) with topical BB, but about a month later i was back to normal after nearly six months of hell and numerous futile perm treatments. best of luck to you all xx.

shakti, you may have really sensitive skin but i think if you have not treated since march, you may either still be infected or it could be something other than scabies. i would go back to my doctor, if possible.

however, my doctor told me it could take months for my skin to go back to normal. the allergic reaction from scabies can hang around for ages. i guess it depends on the person.

How long have you been cured? Do you still have some symptoms? If so do you mind sharing?
