Thanks so much to all of you on this forum. In desparation I read the posts and decide to try neem oil. My eyes had been reacting on and off for the last 4 years - allergist said I was allergic to house dust mite !I had a skin scrape on my ankle rash and it was negative. This year, symptoms had become much more chronic with cycles of inflammation and peeling every week. Also wrinkles were getting horrible. After 3 and a half weeks on neem oil mixed with hypoallergenic moisture cream, applied twice a day, my eyes look almost normal. I also use neem soap to wash my face and hair.
I am so grateful for you all sharing your experiences and wish you well on your healing journeys.
Hi Lynn, could you tell me where in NZ you bought your neem products as I live in Auckland. I've found online sites on Trademe and one in the South Island and a good neem site in Aussie that I might import from [www.neemoil.com.au]. Thanks, my skin would thank you for it. I also found a fantastic personal website extolling neem oil [www.discoverneem.com]she gives heaps of info for neem and it's uses.

thanks itchygirl in oh, I am so sad today and really stressed, i have had this thing four times in three years and each time it takes months before i know if im clear or not. it completely destroyed my massage career which is how i first got it, i know i have successfully got rid of it and had many happy scabies free months but then i have contact with someone and they find out a few days later that they have it, that has happened twice in the last year, it is just bad luck. This last time i had held hands with my friend wnilst we walked around town then he told me the next day that he had it, i did not ask him if he knew when he was holding my hand because i dont want to be angry with him, he has some mental problems and its not his fault he has it. i waited after he told me, optomistic that i had not caught it but a couple of weeks later the itching and rash started, my boyfriend refused to treat himself in the beggining so he gave it back to me and now we cant get rid of it. The problem is that i have a lot of contact with other people and thier homes so i treat myself and bf and do all the cleaning for me and my boyfriend everytime i feel the rash come back, i wait a good few weeks each time but i dont want to leave it any longer because of the risk of infecting others. it always goes away after treatment and comes back 2 or 3 weeks later.

Because of the regular treatments i never have a really heavy infestation so it never looks that bad to the doctor. i dont want to keep using these pesticides. its so hard to treat myself and my boyfriend and both of our environments properly because i simply dont have the time and boys arent so good with this sort of thing.i have spent so much money and energy on this, some of my friends know and some dont i am scared of losing friends and important contacts over this. the inside of my nose itches this time and so i have scabs there now, can they really live in you NOSE! surely not? I checked out these types of forum yaers ago when i first had it and heard people talking like me and i thought they were mad, now i am one of those people!HELP!

scabies girl,
They definitely DO get into your scalp and face. It's not their favorite spot on most people, but once you start treating elsewhere, that's where they go. I was also told that they don't affect your scalp,, and go a really bad case on my head as well as a few bites on my jawline. My son also got them in his scalp. I don't think the Drs. are up on just how resistant these bugs have become.
itchygirl in oh,

You're absolutely right, although the Medical Establishment appears to be coming around to that realization. The 5% Permethrin prescription cream I purchased at my local Rite Aide in the U.S. included instructions to apply it from the "top of the head to the bottoms of the feet", rather than from the jawline down.

I just wanted to let those of you still suffering that I'm finally healing from this terrible affliction after 8 months of hell. I used Permetherin 6 times, Eurax 3 times, Neem oil 2x daily for 2 months, 10% sulfur cream 6x and 5 loads of laundry with Borax daily. My husband and I both had it and have not slept in the same bed for 6 months. We have seen 5 different doctors who all treated us very disrespectfully. My husband finally begged his dermatologist to give him 2 doses of ivermectin (he wouldn't treat me at the time because he was too busy and I was not a current patient). We each took 12 mg of ivermectin and we appear to have killed them. Good luck to all of you and take ivermectin if you can get it.
You have no idea how appreciative I am that you and your husband have posted your trials and tribulations; successes and ideas. I hope these help me. I've had 2 treatments of ivermectin (I was only able to coerce iver from one dermatology nurse practitioner. the dr. is never available. The second NP who saw me said I was imagining things and I was being "hypervigilant". My family dr. told me I had to speak to a derm b/c he could not help me if the ONE dose of perm didn't help. ALL the docs/nurses told me "if you have one dose of perm or iver, and it's not cured permanently forever, you can't possible have scabies or a mite. I was clear for 2 weeks and got reinfected. I'm almost sure it was a beautiful top my friend brought me from India. Stupid me for not having it dry cleaned. ARG! The second time I wore it, I broke out within 1 1/2 days. the docs said it's not possible that eggs could remain in a shirt and cause a reinfestation. They also said all my family members must have it or else I don't have scabies/mite infestation. I'm so disillusioned by the medical profession. Look at all of us here on this site and many others -- relying on each other, complete lay people, not medical professionals. What in the H*!!? This is supposedly the leader of the free world and we can't get proper medical care even though we (my hubby and I) pay $750 a month for health insurance premiums!! Thank God for all you people sharing your stories. I promise to write back and tell you what worked for me. Someone down the line will surely be searching for the answer. I will try your remedies and will combine it with ivermectin. Last month I ordered it from the good people in Canada and India. I overdosed myself by taking 8 tablets instead of 5. I had absolutely no ill effects even though I have a glass of wine each night (re: load on liver). I could feel an immediate frantic movement followee by a calming under my skin. Within about 4 hrs I knew something good was happening. By the next day I felt nothing was alive. For the next two weeks I was on cloud nine. I kept rubbing my smooth hands and telling my husband "It feels so good to be normal again!" I would stop and say "I suffered for 2 months!" Sadly, I put that shirt on and now have it again. I'm sure that's where I got reinfected. I'm going to order more ivermectin from India, but in the meantine use the sulfur and the neem oil. My children are having a hard time understanding why I have barely hugged them for months, even though I explain I have "poison ivy rash" and don't want to give it to them. I pray I have my life back soon. I'm sorry to write so much, but I've about lost my mind; and having he healthcare "professionals" look at me with disgust and look at me as if I have delusions it so unbelievably dehumanizing and degrading. I can't believe this is real.

Welcome to the seventh circle of hell. Scabies are perhaps in the top three worst things to happen to me physically. After six loooooong months I am FINALLY finding relief! Lets see, four treatments of peremerthrin. four treatments of Eurax(crotamiton) with both of their side effects the little buggers came rageing back almost instantly after use. The dang Eurax had me stumbling like a drunken man until I washed it off. I was dizzy and sick to my stomoch with a wierd headache so I read about it and found they have not done ANY testing on its total side effects, great! So in desperation I started a course of pure NEEM OIL with the addition of shampoo, soaps and lotions. After three days my skin is clearing and the bumps are sibsiding. The key is patience in useing these products. The truth is with the huge prison, hospital, and care home populations these bugs are building an immunity to the frontline treatments. Really I was totally desperate and getting reading to use the ivermectin treatment until I found this product. It has a culmanative effect that takes some time(15 days of application) and I'm MUCH BETTER AFTER THREE DAYS). So give it a try before applying or swallowing ANY MORE POISON! NEEM works because nobody uses it and the bugs have no immunity. It does not kill them right out but slowly messes them up. It totally killed spider mites in my greenhouse and scabie mites are the same family. Its working so far for me and you all outta give it a try as it is natural and actually GOOD FOR THE SKIN!NOTHING HAS WORKED THIS WELL THUS FAR! Good luck!

Soon I will be recieving 10% sulphur lotion and soap bought online. Funny how you cannot find 10% sulphur over the counter because I looked high and low.
Thanks for your comment on Neem, you can buy 10 % Sulfur soap and 10% sulfer cream in the Hispanic section of Walmart. The cream is called Pomada de Azufre, it is an acne cream but i use it on my face and body. The soap is called Azufre. I have used everything including Iver but they keep coming back so i am going to try everything natural.

Hi everybody:
I've been suffering bird or rodent mites infestation since mid June of this year, 2009, after a brief battle with bed bugs, this last a gift from the college students below my apartment that purchased used matresses and furniture. I started using Neem oil against the nightly bites of bed bugs, but now I'm using it against the bird mites, and let me tell you I don't know what would I do if I didn't have this Neem oil, is like a shield against the bites, I'm mixing it with Equate baby oil so it last longer, I spray pepermint water on my hair, spread Neen/baby oil all over me, including face and neck and I finish with Menthol Ice cream for sore muscles around my nose and ears. My matress is all wrapped up in white plastic mattress cover and zippered, plastic tape on the zipper, mattress was placed away from the wall, roach prufe on the floor all around the perimeter of my mattress. Spray the wall and floor with a mix of alcohol and Arm & Hammer powder detergent. So far, now finally I have been able to sleep well during the night with no bites or crawlings. Mi cat thought has become a source of reinfection, I'm working on him now. my bedroon and bathroom are now off limit, the poor thing don't understand why I don't hold or play with him anymore or why is not allowed to sleep wit me anymore. I pray god to help me thru this torture. Can't wait for the cold weather and dry indoor air. I've found out that the best time to exterminate as many as I can is when they are out and about in full, about 2:00 AM, you get the bad guys when they are out in the open and not when they are hiding, is the same with these mites, their number have been dwindling steadily since I started my after midnight extemination sweeps along with the use of the mix of alcohol and Arm & Hammer powder detergent. To all, keep the faith and persevere!

Hi I have been exposed to scabies a baby that I was holding had it. Only held the baby for about 15 minutes and laid down on a couch for about the same. I did not know that these people had scabies. I am a massage therapy student and can not afford to get this. I came home and started treating my home as if it were infested. I cleaned it from top to bottom with bleach sprayed furniture with spray that kills lice. I am looking for a product that works so i can treat myself and my children anyway even if I don't know if I have it yet. Also know a couple people in the same situation as I am.. Where they have been exposed but have no signs of it. Is it possible that I won't get it? Just in case does sulfur cream and sulfur soap work alone? without the use of neem oil?
Thanks for all your help quick response would be appreciated.

Hi Scared,
showering with sulphur soap and following up with a full body application of sulphur cream for 12 hours would be a great thing to do as a pre-emptive strike against scabies if you think you've been exposed. It's great that you have gotten to your environment as well. Make sure to wash all of your bedding if you've slept there since being exposed. Spray your mattress and pillows and cover them in either plastic mite-proof covers. A cheaper temporary alternative would be to get a thick plastic mattress moving bag from u-haul or a hardware store and duct tape it completely so that there are no openings. Put your pillows in double kitchen garbage bags, pushing the air out of the pillows then taping all of the openings. From there it is a 'wait and see' to know if you have caught it, But wash your bedding every few days and wipe down the plastic covers with vinegar/water or hydrogen peroxide each time you change your bedding. No need to start with neem oil.
good luck!

My experience so far with Neem Oil- I put 2tblsp in warm bath and soak for an hour, then pat dry leaving residue of neem oil on body. The first time I did this, I noticed these red dart like marks all over my stomach area lots and lots of them, looked kind of like stretch marks. I knew these were scabies, I think they were trying to get away from the neem oil and thats what caused the marks. The same thing happened to my husband which makes me convinced they don't like Neem oil. So along with all the other treatments we are doing, I am adding this to a once a week regimen and also i will put neem oil on entire body 1x per week.

I have been using Neem the past 2 days in my bath at night and it seems to be slowly helping. However I have had a headache and been dizzy. Anybody else with these side effects. I want to kill the little buggers but don't want to kill myself in the process.

I have not had any headaches or dizziness from the neem oil, but everyone is different. I am still a firm believer of neem oil. I just think the whole process of getting rid of this horrible thing differs with everyone as it depends on so much. Like what they treatment they are doing, how they are doing it, how often, and the extent to which they are infected, plus age and immune system etc. I know if I have a real itch and I put neem oil mixed with olive oil (only a couple tbsp of neem to 2cups of oil), this brings out the scabies, black specks. Its a process...... a long process dependent on a lot of variables :(

Neem oil may cure a light case of scabies with someone who is fairly young and healthy. But Neem oil doesn't cure scabies on someone who is older and has a severe case of it. For scabies you need medically proven scabicides like permethrin cream and ivermectin. Yes, you can get side effects from Neem Oil. Everything we place on our skin will cause type of side effect. If you want to continue having scabies stick with the essential oils. If you want a cure you have to hit them hard, and often, with medically proven scabicides/miticides, and clean like a french maid.

Not everyone can take Ivermectin for starters. And not everyone is in good enough health to clean like a french maid, however I do the very best I can. Also as for the permethrin I been there done that numerous numerous times, it doesnt work. I have however seen first hand how the neem oil works, as I said in previous post, after a hot bath one time i had red dart burrows all over. I have been battling this problem for a year it has been a learning experience to say the least, I have made significant progress, Neem oil is not the only treatment i am doing but it is the main one. I think it also depends on what type of neem oil you are using. I have come to the conclusing its our hands that continue to spread it to our bodies, I could be wrong, but....... since I have changed how i do things but not using my bare hands to apply treatments and or wash my body, using gloves instead and keeping my hands off my body as much as possible, seems to be making a huge difference. Just what I find to be working for me lately, the best yet! Good luck!

Screw neem oil. I tried it STRAIGHT for TWO WEEKS and ended up with a severe reaction, and even worse, the bastards attacked me like they never had before. If anything, my symptoms QUADRUPLED using that crap. Don't even bother.

I tried everything based on the mountain of stuff i read too. after 2 months i've kicked them twice.twice because i got rid of them and then went
to see a "friend" after an hour sitting on his couch i could feel them crawling on me again, how can people live like that! It takes about two weeks to send them packing.first buy the ivermectin from canada(india), pay a little extra and get a good provider, after going through a couple i recommend http://www.drugsmonster.com . Start
the neem right away because it will take 7-10 days to get the ivermectin, pay the extra shipping. Here's how to neem, i bought triple acting NEEM Oil (southern ag) at home depot for 9 bucks, get a 32 oz spray bottle and mix 2oz neem to water and shake. Take your daily shower then dry off good take some straight neem and rub it on your body every place you can reach except face and hair and squirt the mixture on your back and in your hair. otherwise your hair gets gooey. you should be dry in a few minutes. do this every day for two weeks as well as spray it on your mattress bedding couch etc. Turn up the hot water heater(140f)and pick a few sets of clothes so you just use them once and was them. I also spray my dog with the spray mix and brush it in her fur every day and gave her revolution(from pet shed austrailia). Lots of websites say don't worry about your pets but alot of them say treat pets too. if your pet is shaking it's head or fussing over its crotch then there is something crawling . over time the neem oil bender will take it's toll and the ivermectin is the knock out punch...... limit what you come in contact with, stay the course on the neem. Neem is not an essential oil so you don't have to worry about it burning you like clove or eucalyptus.
also i don't have to hardly dust anymore!

Who is the dirt bag who marked my post as spam? I've been coming here for a while looking for a cure. I've had these pests for YEARS with NOTHING helping. I tried neem oil, and ended up with a SEVERE reaction, weeping skin, and then a serious infection. It did NOTHING to affect the monsters under my skin. NOTHING. Instead I became 1000x more sensitive to them digging, biting, scratching, and clawing under my skin. You can waste your money on neem oil if you want, but I guarantee you it will NOT work. Save your money and try something else. Period.
