I had scabies recently and have no clue how I picked them up. My fiancé is scabies free and it wasn't sexual transmission. My doctor thinks my gym, a nail salon, hotel, or my job in sales shaking hands might've been how I obtained it. All of the websites show how transmission requires long, skin to skin contact, I find it hard to believe that they arent more easily transmitted. I ran the gamut of emotions and felt scared, ashamed, gross, and embarrassed. I am a germophobe by nature and pride myself on my cleanliness, so to me this was a fate worse than death. It was hard to believe that there were bugs crawling in my skin. I read horror stories about people not being able to get rid of them and long term infestations. My Dr prescribed permethrin and I applied it 2.5 weeks ago. He instructed me to wash clothes and bedding that I'd contacted in 72hrs. I took the extra step and washed everything I owned and put everything else in the dryer on high heat. I vaccunmed obsessively. The itching persisted for about 5 days after, but no new bumps appeared. Slowly, everything started to disappear and the itching and burning died down. I did not do the second application of perm. As of now everything is almost healed over but I have a lot of scars from itching. During the outbreak of bumps, I struggled to see the burrows, but they became more apparent after my skin started healing. I'm anxiously waiting to see if they come back and think that every time I feel something tickle, it means they are, but I doubt that fear will ever disappear. I will update this if anything changes, but I hope this gives other people as scared as I was, some hope.

Found a 100% treatment for this annoying itch. I only get a couple of little pimples on my fingers and the itch is rediculous. I contracted the mite while working at a veterinarians office. In the midst of desperation I took peroxide and used my husbands diabetic needles and used a new one of course and disposed of it in a sharps container. What I did was inject peroxide directly into the scabies bubble/infected area and I got immediate itch relief. I injected the bumps several times and the peroxide rinsed out the infection and ultimately killed the mites. The prick of the needle didn't cause pain at all...it worked and I am thankful for that.

I have been tormented with scabies for 7 months and tried all the home remedies I could find from the posts without success. I finally realized that all this BS is worthless and the newer studies show that permethrin is the cure so why mess with all the garbage. I was miserable and frequently found myself with unbearable itching at times when scratching was not appropriate.
Here is something that works, is safe, and conforms to the principles of medicine and not pie in the sky.
Get the concentrated Happy Jack Kennel Dip II. It is 17% permethrin by volume. The bottle costs about $25 at tractor supply but did not check prices elsewhere. I was itching too much to look elswhere not matter what the price. Still much cheaper than going to the doc to get the ivermycetin prescription.
I applide do my hands, feet, toes, and scrotum (my only affected areas. This terribly upset the critters for a few minutes but the itching subsided soon. I also took one teaspoon by mouth. It tasted pretty bad but not terrible. Followed this with about 1 small glass of water. I HAVE HAD NO ITCHING AT ALL FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS!!!! This is a remarkable change. I expected a little more time for it to kick in but it was my miracle.
Due to the life cycle of the mites, I will take one teaspoon every 7 days for 4 weeks at least. This bottle will last a long time if I do get a recurrence. I treat my puppy with an appropriate tiny dose also so that my pests do not have a suitable host and will all die after a cycle or two because they have no way of surviving in me, my puppy or elsewhere. This is the first time I have found any relief in months. You should see the claw marks on my legs!
Remember this is very concentrated so more is not better but if you take this small amount it is sufficient. A 70 kg person should take about 14-15 mg in one dose so dringing the glass of water sufficiently brings down the concentration.
I am going to give the puppy about 0.75-1cc on the same schedule as I take the meds. This is the same compound recommended by doctors but is simply the primary component in the kennel dip.
I hope this helps others. I know some will say that this is only short term but after what I have been through I do not care if I have to take it frequently to avoid all the suffering I have been through. This is the first relief I have had in months.
