Anyone else have a harsh reaction to sulfur ointment?

I just washed off my 2nd application. Oh man, my skin looks a mess! I have a rash all over and not the pinprick scabies kind, more like contact dermatitis. I look sunburnt. It itches horribly when I put it on for about 3-4 hours and then calms down a little.

I thought it was supposed to be soothing to the skin. I don't think I can handle a third night. I'm hoping the 2nd application will do the trick seeing as I had used permethrin a week prior. I couldn't do a second application of that because it made me very sick although didn't mess up my skin.

If anyone has any ideas on how to soothe my current skin crisis, I'd be much obliged.

This happened to me 2 days ago with the 10% sulfur ointment too!! I was finally doing much better, after dealing with this for 3 weeks, but I wanted to make sure I was really cured after my 2 doses of Permithrin and 2 of Ivermectin, and I've read people have had so much success with sulfur.

Immediately after applying it, my chest and shoulder turned bright red, just like sunburn, like you said. This happened to me after taking Ivermectin too, I figured it was some chemical reaction going on but it faded over the next couple hours. Then I felt fine until I got in the shower 24 hours later to wash it off, so that I could put a fresh application on. Well, immediately in the shower, I started feeling a horrible itch, just as bad as I felt when I first got scabies. And my showers before using the sulfur had finally been itch=free for 3 days! Then these skin colored blister-looking bumps and a red rash all over my arms and chest, and itchy everywhere.:(

Most of the redness of the rash has faded, but I still itch worse than before.:( I definitely think some of us are unfortunately sensitive to sulfur.

I guess natural is not always better. It sucks because sulfur is the cheapest and supposed to be safest treatment, but now I feel I should stay away from it. I was finally sleeping ok, but couldn't sleep yesterday.

I don't know what to suggest to you because I'm kind of lost myself, but I am going to do another permithrin treatment tomorrow. I hate to use it because my cat becomes irritated being in the apartment with me, it is even more toxic to cats than to humaans, but that's all I have access to right now. If that doesn't help, I was thinking of trying the diatamaceous earth treatment, I don't think it is very expensive either.

Have you tried anything else? I think the Ivermectin prescription helped me, but I can't get another prescription for it nor can I afford to buy anything else online right now.

I wash everyday With a sulfur soap it really stinks and makes my skin very dry. Now lately I feel that thr places where I have the rash mostly on hips , start to feel extremly hot. Very weird not so much itching just a very hot feeling under my skin. I don't know our this is sufpher related our a scabies sign?

I am just a month into this so cannot say for sure, but it sounds like a skin sensitivity issue to me, that is related both to the sulfur and any other treatments you've done that have thinned and irritated/dried your skin, plus the irritation/allergic reaction from the mites. I've read of others who have a sort of "sunburn" feeling and looking reaction who have used various treatments, usually sulfur included.
