Hoping someone can recommend source that doesn't charge $50 for shipping Benzemul or Ascabiol? Old BB thread said national pharmacies in AU but seems no more... Don't want to self mix as many said most mixes SEPARATE and then BB can burn bad...(Perm just getting TOO TOXIC for me time after time... It's affecting my memory AND makes my lymphedema worse...)
Thanks everyone!!

I've never found bb. Perm is poison and english studies claimed a high failure rate. Ivermectin orally is waaaay better in my opinion.

BSE: Looks like Sam figured it out. To quote:

"On mixing a topical BB solution: I was finally able to get a mixture that didn't separate.
I used one part pure BB from reasearch supply, 3 parts thick lotion (Trader Joes extra dry moisturizing cream, unscented herbal blend with aloe) added a few drops of balsam of peru since I get allergic reactions to TTO. Mixed it with a hand held blender. Applied all over. Even the next day the left over had not separated, so I put more on my problem spots."

If you aren't adverse to using animal products Happy Jack Sardex mange spray is 30% BB. You can buy it at Tractor Supply for about $15. Here is a net source that comes out about the same with shipping:

I personally like the Sardex better than the Benzemul as it is an aerosol and is easier to apply. Remember when you use BB to make sure your skin is completely dry, or it will burn (the voice of experience-ouch!). Be careful with it, especially the first time you use it, it's pretty harsh. It also has a strong odor. It repels as well as kills the bugs.

Can Benzyl Benzoate be used safely on the scalp? Is it same as Benzemul?

Benzyl benzoate is the active ingredient in Benzemul and the Sardex Spray. I think benzemul is 25% bb, Sardex is 30%. I have found that they both work really well on my scalp, as well as the callused areas on my feet. It seems to penetrate the thick skin on these areas. Don't ever use undiluted bb on yourself, it will burn you.

"Second" that question on BB on scalp--anyone know? But I can answer the other ?-yes, benzemul is a Benzyl Benzoate 25% product--I don't know however what the "inactive" ingredients are--the other 75%. But they do "suspend" (is that the right word to use?) the BB--many people who tried mixing their own formula said the BB wouldn't stay "mixed" and so when it separated it would burn (sometimes BAD). I think I should reread that whole old BB thread... But thanks much Alex & Itchygirl for saving me some research time on my main questions! Still, I should review the "wash off" after instructs--the mixing with water (including rinsing off too soon?) seems to be a major issue to avoid BB Burn...

Itchygirl... Sounds like the dog stuff is slightly stronger (30 vs 25%)--but would you say it's fairly similar as far a irritating skin? Otherwise I'm all for animal product (thanks! for so easy to get and cheap!) I've taken horse ivercare several times--obviously works and I'm not paranoid just cuz animal product...

For me it's a bit better-it is a thin oily spray- kind of reminds me of WD40 in texture, so you can control the amount you put on easier than you can with Benzemul. Benzemul is a liquid about the consistency of milk of magnesia. I was quoting ingredient percentages off of the top of my head. I looked at the Sardex can again and it is actually 29%, so even less of a difference than I thought.
The biggest way to avoid burn with BB in my experience is to be completely dry when you put it on. Do not use it when you are freshly bathed and toweled off. I wait at least 1/2 hour. Be careful with your nether regions as well.

Thanks, Itchygirl! Call me crazy, but I just ordered the paracide II shampoo, too... I'll try the Sardex spray first though--in combo with Iver. Do you know if perhaps the BB kills the eggs or at least the babies, too? Doesn't seem like ANY product does...
And do you consider it to be less toxic than perm? I know many consider perm to be fine, but me & hubby's experience is that it's pretty toxic and has markedly made my brain problems worse (concentration, word recall, dyslexia). It may be the PBO rather than the Perm itself...

I don't think anything kills eggs, as far as I can tell. I think it kills immature ones. To me it is less toxic than perm, but a bit harder on my skin. The perm gave me headaches. It also seems to drive them away from you better. It does stink, though.

I've started to bath in 50/50 warm water/vinegar, I stay in the tub for about 20 minutes or until the water star to cool down, and it seems to be working. They are starting to live me alone, don't feel to much crawling or biting, but they are getting on my cat again though, so now more Neen leaf powder on him again.

Benzyl benzoate is very useful for combating mite infestations. It can both kill and repel mites. In Australia you can buy it in either the Ascabiol (white bottle 200ml) or Benzemul Application (brown bottle 200ml) for around $12 to $15. No prescription required.

You can get Iver from online pharmacies. I have ordered Iver from http://magicpharma.com/ twice now and it is helping greatly (1 12 mg tablet once per two weeks).

I have yet to find a good online store for benzyl benzoate, but this is not really a problem as the local chemists all stock it.

I have used permethrin for more than 11 years and have not had any of these problems. My case of scabies is quite involved as doctors would not help me because they did not see any typical symptoms. I have been mixing my own benzyl benzoate and cream. Sometimes it separates, when it does I shake the bottle and it is fine. The only burning I have had is when I use it around my eyes, It is less effective than permethrin and this is a big problem.

1. Buy on ebay (U.S.) and mix 50 % w distilled water works fine on body and scalp (put in sprayer and shake and spray - on face use sulphur or nu-stock mixed w mineral oil.

2. choice Go to Ebay UK and order BB from UK pharmacy or Singapore as both ship.

3. Choice - buy killitch on amazon - it is 30 % Benzyl benzoate (BB) but drying but works.

4. Order malathion from Ebay UK.

You can order Antiscabiosum from Germany, it's usually 25% benzyl benzoate for adults. But you won't have troubles with mixing the right percentage for kids b/c there is a special "Antiscabiosum 10% fuer Kinder" – Antiscabiosum for children. The "%%" is reduced and adequate for kids b/c their skin is thinner.
