Hi, I'm doing a project for highschool and stumbled upon this site. I can't find anything on google, but I was wondering if anyone has ever actually committed suicide because of scabies. I know people contemplate it, but are there any cases directly related?

Or do any of you with scabies often think of suicide as a way out?

it does take the good lord and a strong minded person to continue with this way of living

Yes, With my 2nd wife of 9yrs (the love of my life) walking out on me because of her state of mind do to refusing treatment for the changes, and finding another man, just before this. My heart was ripped out, & I was davastated! Suicide was on my mind, till I got thrown out of my house and then just survival kicked in. I picked up some kind of invisible itch mite where I was staying, and brought it home with me recently :( It had become overwhelming, and I thought about just burning down my house with me in it, to save my family, & friends from this, and as a final solution, put an end to all this,,, But, I didn't have the nerve, or want my wife to win, and my kids to lose, plus I wanted to save my house to sell, So it got me to work for a solution, a cure instead.

You'd think with all the mental hurt, & pain from the divorce, or physical hurt, & mental pain from these bugs, I'd have a double reason to want to die, but I've just been looking to God for help, and asking him why he has forsaken me like this? How much can I stand? but I take it one day at a time.

mikdee- i really do feel your pain ,sometimes its hard to apprehend and say ,but sometimes things happen for a reason .i love my husband very much ,we have been through so much .things always got better until the bug issue. they affected me more than him .i lost my mind and was put in a mental ward just for saying bugs are crawling on me .my husband didnt visit me once,i collapsed from chemicals and he would not even call me an ambulance and said he couldnt miss work.he said he felt them but was to emberrased he said to tell the dr because of the way they treated me .he puts me through a quilt trip because of my paranoia to be intimate .hes not helped me with eradication since it began ,im exhausted .he has done mean things and made snide remarks and i can not heal this way .so im leaving him .ive lost everything .my friends, family, home, dog, car,cl othes, furniture, self esteem, all of it and more.but i have to be strong for me .you have to be strong for you . if it was in gods plan for your life she will come back ,if not he has better plans for you .but the good cant come in till you get the bad behind you .just take care of yourself and fight this full force. it will all be ok in the end .how are things for you now? if it helps i will be your friend always .

Thanks SKF! I'm hanging in there,,, so sorry to hear of your troubles. By the way, I think the pest repeller is working. I was thinking of ordering another one, or two for the lower level, but I found it appears that if I don't kill these things in the wash, on the clothes, & bedding, they just come back in force. I'm using A&H powder, but I think I need to add ammonia, or something, because turned up full my electric water heater doesn't get very hot, I can jump right into a bath, without getting burned.

Doctors haven't helped very many people on this forum. Only a person that has gone through this knows. Unfortunately, doctors aren't well versed in how to get rid of scabies. They still use the old school thinking. Nothing kills the eggs, so you have to be persistant with any treatment that you use. Get some 10% sulfur ointment at Walmart. It is called "Pomada de Azufre" You need to treat your invironment or you risk being reinfected. Wash everything with Arm & Hammer detergent and borax too, bedding, clothes, etc. Use the perm cream on yourself and use the sulfur cream inbetween treatments. Use food grade diotenatious earth mixed with water and spray everything, let sit for a few days, then vacumn. If you have asthma, where a mask, as the fine dust can cause asthmatic problems. You can mix it with anything (grape seed oil is good)and apply it to your skin as it is non toxic and will kill those scabies. Also, if you have any pets they need to be treated as well as they can be carriers. You can use DE on them as well. Even cats. As it does not hurt to injest it. I know it is hard to get rid of scabies and I have been through it myself. I am giving you all my knowledge after suffering with scabies off and on for a few years. I am finally rid of them. I even threw out clothes and bedding as I found out that those buggers can survive a wash! If you plan on keeping your clothes, Iron everything before you wear it. They cannot survive the iron treatment. Don't forget to treat your mattress and car!! Reinfection is the biggest problem. Bleach bathes are only a temporary fix, and sometimes scabies will float on the water and be able to move to a different spot.

You are finally rid of them?!! I am very happy for you! You were the one though who told me when I thought I was cured that they would always come back. They did for me :( Like a silly child I felt like you jinxed me lol. We are doing our 7th perm treatment and still cleaning like a mad woman. I cannot afford DE or anything else I haven't paid my mortgage in 2 months living paycheck to paycheck. What is worse is when I put the perm on I got 4 new burrows.. I hadn't had any burrows in a long time. I don't get them in the typical places either. The love my knees and my arms. As of right now they are under my toddlers eyes :( My sons arms only and my other daughters face. Husband is still in denial and divorce looms overhead for me because of the cost of scabies. Scabies ruined my life and it won't go away :( I just want to die but I can't leave my kids alone to suffer

Borax has been working for me big time on the clothes.. I dont feel itchy at all once I take a borax/ tea tree oil warm to hot bath. I put a thick glob of a vaseline ring around my neck so that they wont climb on my head to take cover from the baths. I then put on clean clothes, which I was in borax and tide... when i dry i put softner sheets so that the clothes wont smell so bad from the borax. So far I am controlling the amounts of mites that are on me. I dont have any ridiculous rashes or anything. I just feel some crawling on my head and my face. I had some bite marks and a burrow on my left leg and 1 burrow on my right leg but they are gone. I use tea tree oil soap after the bath. I also read somewhere that if you scrub your body while bathing, they will come off. I also applied tea tree oil to the bites on my legs and it has worked to eradicate the bites on my legs. I still have the burrow but that is because I just ripped it open with a needle and put tea tree oil that same night. The next night I put neosporin just in case. I wouldnt suggest the needle cause it can cause infection. I did it cause I kept on thinking about what if they layed their eggs in there. I had to get rid of it. I found a couple burrows on two of my fingers and 1 burrow on the top of my hand. I pulled them out... all of them. Now I am wearing boots in my house since I have a rug... and I am putting tea tree oil and vinegar on my scalp. almost all of the crawling has stopped.

I believe I am at war. I can see myself look for many solutions to kill kill kill the evil beasts! I am doing everything that I have to to get rid of them. Me and my husband were joking about it cause I was telling him how they are running from me and getting on him since he is not as anal as me and they are probably saying, phew... we got away from that crazy b. So far I am keeping their numbers under control. I have no crazy rashes or anything of the sort. I do feel them crawling on my head and some on my face though but it isnt the same as it was two weeks ago. I felt hundreds all over me two weeks ago. I felt them falling in my lips... my face... my eyelashes. I will kill them if it is the last thing I do. Funny thing is that I wonder if they are contemplating suicide from all the horrible things i am doing to them. HAHAHAHA! Little dirty bastard scabies will die!

I've been battling scabies for two months. I've had three permethrin treatments and thoroughly cleaned my apartment. I have run out of money for raid, lysol, Diatomaceous Earth, doctor visits, windex, boric acid, and so on. I simply have to start back paying bills. I don't know if the itching after the treatments is still scabies or allergic reaction to the permethrin. I think its still scabies, You know how you just kind of know. What exactly is one is supposed to do. For now, I have accepted that it issomething Ill have to live with. I'm a Christian, and I've finally gotten real mad at God over this. I know He is my only hope. Any suggestions with stuff I can actually buy at a store would be appreciated, and, fellow poeple of faith, please pray hard for me.i

Yes, go to a feedstore and buy ivermectin and permethrin.
Or, go to a hispanic store and buy pomada de azufre, which is a sulfur vaseline type ointment and applly full body. read up on the ivermectin and permethrin on this forum. try the search engine on this forum. try to find sulfur soap. all this can be bought online, too. try head and shoulders in the blue bottle with selenium sulfide 1%. use it head and full body. go buy arm and hammer laundry detergent and take baths in it. hot baths. go in the i am cured thread and read some of the cures on there, starting page 27-31. good luck.

Sarah, Thank You for your interest and concern. I, too have wondered how many suicides would come down to any scabies-type infestations. It's such a long, long and very lonely battle, and without this forum, many could easily give up the fight.
What's more, maybe a coroner would know if there was an autopsy, or the signs were obvious--but I seriously doubt ANYONE (outside of the "death" community, morticians, etc.) else would ever hear, see, or know the truth.

Thanks Aaron. Lots of good tips, but isn't invermectin and permethrin only available by prescription? And, I've had 3 treatments of permethrin and took one invermectin pill already. Ill definitely get the Arm and Hammer Laundry Detergent and take hot baths in it, and Ill try the Head and Shoulders in the Blue Bottle too. Can't find the sulfer soap anywhere so I guess Ill order some online. Thanks for your help. Oh, Ill also try to find a hispanic store to get the sulfer cream. No pharmacy around here has it. I looked for it tonight. Thanks again Aaron.

Buy only the powdered Arm and Hammer laundry Detergent. It contains sodium carbonate, which is the active ingredient that works on these mites. Dunk your face in it, too. Exfoliate with a wash cloth and keep the water moving. Don't let the mites reenter your body at the water line.
Do a google search for pomada de azufre, and buy online.

Also, Austrailia sells Benzemul, a benzyl benzoate lotion that is a scabicide. It's about $7 a bottle. I use this on my face, along with the pomada de azufre and it stops the crawlies on the face.

Happy Jacks II kennel dip is 17% permethrin and also contains a synergist. you can reduce the percentage to 8.5% by cutting it in half with a really good quality lotion. and then reduce a bit more to get it to 6% permethrin.
