Permethrin treatments-- how long should you wait before treating?

I have read 1 week, 12 days, even 3 days. I hear 1 week the most, and that is what I followed for my first two treatments.

I'm not sure that I'm cured, most of my original rash is gone, but there are some newer bumps and I still itch. So, I want to treat a 3rd time, and was planning to do it a week after my last Ivermectin treatment (took 2 doses of that a week apart), but should I wait 12 days? Do it sooner? I'm so confused.:/

Seriously? Why? For how long? Did this work for you, or are you still treating?

How could you ever get prescribed that much? Doctors seem to think that after 1-2 tubes, you're cured. If you still have rashes and itch like crazy, especially at night, it's post-scabies, and you (the patient) is crazy for still thinking you have it. I am so sick of this.

KEEP IT ON AS LONG AS YOU CAN STAND IT!!!!!!!!!!

If you are lucky to have the mites that are not immune to it, mites still wont want to bite while you have it on. The longer you have it on, the longer they starve weaken and die. I have it on right now. I put it on last night at 1 am. keeping it one till 5 p.pm tomrrw.

IF you can get 5% perm several times, I’d say 3 days. on the 5th day, I’d take ivermectin. Then repeat on the 7th day after the 1st day of the 1st treatment.

Do this ONLY and i repeat ONLY AAFFTTEERR you have washed every item of clothing you are using in circulation, have encased your mattress and pillows in Vinyl encasings that zip completely, vacuumed EVERYWHERE, lysol computer desk and keyboard, sanitized combs, door knobs shoes, wiped walls down with bleach water mix (sucks to do it but its worth it) dust EVERYTHING in a faint nrealy invisible Diatomatious Earth over carpets, furniture, and sanitized car seats steering wheel and seat belts car floors.

If you can not get your hands on the cream again, go out and but the chlorine for pools, use a half a tea spoon for the bath, soak for half hour AND put a thick layer of vaseline around your neck so mites dont migrate to head and scalp!

My hubby, daughter and I each went to our dr.s, and each got 2 refills. At.105lbs I only needed half a tube, and my.daughter only a quarter.

I'm no doctor or expert on the matter. I just found out a few days ago we have scabies and have been suffering for two months. But I've been reading all I can about it and post scabies. U can still itch up to 4 weeks or longer with post scabies and new spots may appear and go away in 3 or 4 days. I'm just as freaked out but try to stay calm and give your treatment time and if your condition worsens in 2 to 4 weeks then go see a dermatologist to check for live mites and if they r still there then ask for more treatment. Don't over treat your symptoms bc u could be cured just suffering with post scabies. I would see a doctor first b4 treating again.

My husband and I and our children have treated once so far with the Premethrin 5%. My oldest children have broken out with a rash all over there chests and back but my 2 year old is fine. I'm wondering if a second dose would be ok for them since they got such a bad rash the first time? They only had very few spots to start with from the scabies and the cream has made it worse but u can tell the scabies from the rash. The pediatrician didn't say do twice on the children but I want to just to be certin we are getting rid of the scabies but my question is should I or shouldn't I bc of there rash? I though about just sound my 2 year Old when we do ours and skipping the older boys.

I'm having to deal with this again. before was 2yrs ago. it is awful and people who don't want to here about it then why are you on here reading it the. It sometimes takes 2 to 3 treatments but my 1st doc said 7 days later re-treat my doc now said to go ahead and re-treat in 3 days. this time around it seems worst because your body is more sensitive to it. But I recommend never ever buying or renting furniture or bedding from those rent a places. that is where I contracted mine from. Also you can contract them from having pets in your home. The dander and fleas they carry. I don't care what they say pets can carry it also. I recommend leather couches and chairs and plastic bed covers and wash everything with hot water keep yourself in one area of your house while doing this and then spray all your couches and beds with the rid spray for lice. steam clean your mattress and couches if you can. this is very hard to get rid of sometimes its weeks before the itching stops it is also very embarrassing people think you have some nasty disease but it's more common that head lice. NEVER BUY USED ANYTHING!!!

Definitely do another treatment. There are various life cycles that you must get rid of in order to get them gone. One treatment will get rid of the current live mites, but you still have eggs under the skin. That is the exact mistake I've been doing the past 3 months until the middle of Feb when I started to wage war. Definitely do one or 2 more treatments on EVERYBODY. The rashes are generally delayed, so it might not be for a while unitl you start seeing bite marks.

If the perm makes you nervous, especially on the littles I would start doing sulfur lotion/ointment on the kids and everyone. It's not a quick fix, but if you keep it up it will also help with the mites.

Also have to mention the cleaning aspect of it. Gotta cover everything and keep everything clean.
