How do I use the horse paste 1.87%? Orally? Topically? What is the dosing for someone that is 165-170LBS? This is for the human scabies...not animal scabies...if that makes a difference.....how often do you re-do treatment with this....any suggestions are welcome!!

Ive taken a dose of noromectin 1% injectible everyday for the last 6 days. Taking it in the morning in a glass of water.Feeling better but still itchy but I think I only have one new bite. Thinking of taking a break or maybe going for one more week and then stopping since this stuff is probably not good to take everyday.

Hi itchee, that does sound better. I did see my infec med doc a couple weeks ago. She was more clueless than the derm I was seeing, but she did say it looked more like foliculitis than scabies. Whatever mite I have, it's not typical scabies "looking", and I sometimes wonder about demodex. But anyway, still itchy too, still red bumps (some huge), still feel like things are on my skin, and still unable to get answers. I haven't taken any meds in about a month now and it has been hard to resist. The weird thing is that my skin is mostly clear, and the actual bites I get now are so tiny you can hardly see, or very big like ZITTS!!! Sometimes I really want to take more ivermectin but I want to see what these two docs conclude after they collaborate. I will try albendazole next, but last resort. I know it probably works but I have a challenging job and don't know if I can mix the harsh side effects (that some people get) with my job. I might wait and see and schedule some major vacation time to start that.

If you only get one bite in about 6 days, that's very good. It might not be scabies anymore. You've taken an awful lot of ivermectin, so maybe it worked for you and you're dealing with post scabies? I'd be curious to see how it goes if you do quit and see what happens.

Yes I honestly don't know Katee. This is crazy. I'm about ready to jump on the abendazole treatment now. My doc left and I don't think my referral is happening now so I have made an appt with a new doc on Feb 5 but I am going to have to start at square 1 again probably.

I've looked online and I'm sure that sometimes what I see is just demodex but from what I've read everyone has demodex so it can't be that making me itch like this.
I hate it so much and just want it over with. I don't want to quit taking the ivermectin but I can't take it like this every single day. If its not working as a cure its not doing any good for me at all. I'm feeling quite bewildered.

But try dead sea salt baths with peroxide, smother your skin with tea tree oil and a oil gel. Bath twice a day and spread the oils on whenever you can. Take a vitamin supplement to raise your immune system. They live in fabric so steam and vacuum as much as you can. This may help relieve the pain. You never know what will work for you.

The nurse at the derms. office today told me not to take anymore stromectol because of the build up in your body....whatever....still....I 've got 2 bottles of stromectol and 1 bottle of perm left....back up I guess if the pour on and horse paste doesn't work....who knows anymore!:(

I agree..I'm guessing mine started in Nov....but could have been longer just didn't notice....I'm thinking of trying the iver horse paste 1.87% and/or the IvomecŪ(Ivermectin) Pour-On for Cattle ......but don't know the correct way to do/use these....I need an all over coating of this....from scalp to toes....have you tried these? Do you know if they work or are they useless?

I haven't tried the iver horse paste although I still have some. I'm currently using the Noromectin Injectible orally in a glass of water and used the instructions at the beginning of this thread for dosing. I don't know anything about the pour on, sorry.

As for if they work. I'm not sure but I'm leaning more towards no, for me anyway. I've taken a dose of ivermectin for the past 7 days now and I still feel crawlies and I am dosing well over my recommended dose. I've done 4 rounds of permethrin and the noromectin together last month and still no end.

I'm thinking of trying the Albendazole next.

SoSad, you actually have had a mite found on you, which is more than a lot of us have had. Lot of us are guessing we are dealing with scabies. But you are sure so I think in your case the ivermectin and permethrin together might be the way to go, for now. And not just for two doses like the docs tell you. You can get ivermectin injectible (like Vetrimec, which is what I used) from Amazon. Get some syringes too, they are cheap. Go back to the beginning of this thread and see how to calculate how much to use based on your weight. Use the syringes only to measure out the right amount and squirt it into a glass of something to drink. If you can get your hands on some permethrin, use it at the same time (7 days apart) but I wouldn't do that for more than 3-4 times because permethrin can give you the crawly bitey feelings too because it messes with your nerves.

In my opinion, it might help you to use the ivermectin weekly for at least 2 months, every 7 days at least. I know these threads are long and it would be impossible to read through them all, but I know of at least one person and his wife that feel they were cured using ivermectin for that length of time. I did more than that at first but tapered off to every 7 days toward the end. It's not that expensive all things considered. Ivermectin also seems pretty safe, granted any med you use for a long time could cause liver stress. It's just one of those things we need to consider and make a judgment call on.

I REALLY have to go shovel snow now (I'm avoiding it). Take care.

"Val"] Help me please. My Dr prescribed ivermectin tabs 3mg. One a week for three weeks. Still had them. Gave me more to take 1 immediately, 1 4 days later, another 4 days after that, then 1 more after another four days. Still have them. From this site I think the dosage is to low. There is a post a few up from December downtown who says 200 MICROGRAMS per kilograms. I live in the US, aren't pills measured in MILLIGRAMS? I weigh 140 lbs which I believe is about 63 kg. how many 3 Mg pills should I be taking at a time? How often? My Dr is treating me like i'm crazy. She called a shrink who called me at home! Please help.

I hope you have cured it by now? A Dermotologist is not qualified to make a comment that someone is looney or delusional about having scabies! Dermotologist are not analysts! Next time tell your Dermotologist if he doesn't think its scabies, then to properly diagnose what you have! I think if people go to a city clinic, the doctors there understand this bug. The suburbs or rural area doctors seem to be clueless or they are pretending they do not know cause its hard to treat. Kwell lotion killed it in 2 days 25 years ago, but they banned it cause people abused it! They should allow others to still take it though, its not fair. My doctor would not touch my neighbors skin cause he knew what it was, but he claimed it was an allergy. She had no allergy! Dr. Oz discussed how doctors are uninformed about head mites and scabies! People know what they have. Its very few people that have a bug phobia and think bugs are crawling for no reason. People know the difference between bites and itch...which is scabies!

My derm gave me 6 pills....then take another 6 14 days later.....mine were 3mg also so that makes it 18mg for me....I'm not really sure about how the mg or anything like that goes...before that she gave me a bottle of perm but them told me not to use it. So I didn't......but then she told me not to take anymore of the stromectol because the build up in the system. So I didn't do that either. So needless to say I've still got the 2 doses of stromectol and the bottle of perm. Thing is nothing has change....still getting bites and crawling plus the itching....skin is flaking everywhere and I have them from head to toe...plus on/in the eyes, ears, nose, lips, and mouth, plus the face. They say oh they don't go in those places but MANY people have them there. They also sent me to mental health....I think we all know our own bodies!!!! We live in them. Have you tried anything over the counter yet? How long have you had scabies?

While your taking the pills get yourself an oil gel like Aloe, Vaseline, baby oil gel, or whatever. Something thick to suffocate the mites. You will feel them coming up for air. This helps more than anything. Take a shower using Extra Strength Desenex you will feel like you are cured but it not a cure, it will make you feel better while your taking the meds. Sanitize your shower before and after you shower. I spray mind with Lysol power free and let that sit for 15 minutes before I shower and spray the shower after. But you can use steam or boiling water too.

Thank you for your reply!!! Someone told me to get whole leaf aloe vera gel....gonna get that soon. I've been using St.Ives lotion....would that suffocate them? Also been putting Vaseline on my lips because their also on them. Started using Selsum Blue but will check out the Desenex....think someone said they got theirs from Target. When I use the St. Ives lotion as I just did I was rubbing in all over and all I seen were tiny black dots....are those the mites? I've been spraying my plastic cover on my mattress with 100% bleach. Should I wipe this off or should I just let it air dry with it on or does it make a difference? Also looking into getting a hand held streamer....so far supposedly I'm the only one in the house that has these. Any other suggestions?

3 pills is not enough. I was also given 6 pills. I'm right around your weight.
