how to get rid of scabies

I have a question for anyone who can give me some info. My husband and I and our children did our first treatment of Premethrin 5% on Saturday. Monday my two older children have broken out all over there chest and stomach and backs with a bad rash assuming from the cream but my 17month old is doing fine. They only had very few spots to start with from the scabies but u can clearly tell the rash apart of the infected scabies spots so my question should I do a second treatment on them in a few days when we do ours or no because of the rash? The pediatrician said one does would be sufficient for the kids but I want to do two just to be sure were ridding ourselves from this. I thought about just doind my 17month old when we do ours and skipping my older boys but my 6 year old is itching in his scalp to now and we didn't apply it there just on my 17month olds scalp so should I just maybe treat his scalp but stay away from there body so I don't further irritate there skin? Also his Scrotum is red and he is complaining it is hurting. I'm so worried. I don't want to further torture my children with this stuff but I want these pesky scabies gone for good!

If the older boys have a rash and the skin is broken I would be very wary of putting anything on it.
Probably best re-visit the doc - he might be able to give them something to calm it down.

As for re-treating youngest child again I would beware. If the doc said one treatment maybe it was for a good reason?

I don't know where we picked these up. I am a very clean person. But this scabies thing had got to be solved. My son my daughter and I are losing our mind. We have done the permethrin cream to no avail. Thus has been going on for 2 months. Iam so tired of the itching. And so tired of my children suffering. I see some of these home remedies, do thru actually work. Esp. The one with borax, aspirin and whatever else it is. Please help, so tie of not sleeping.

I'm currently getting better - no more itching and my skin is clearing up. Here's what I did;

Mattress - covered it with borax and let sit for an hour before vacuuming. Once vacuumed, I put it in a bed-bug proof hypoallergenic mattress bag to trap and kill any mites.(Do the same with the box spring)

Bedding - Wash DAILY in hot water with borax and then dry at highest heat. Put extra bedding in plastic bags and set aside for 10-14 days so mites will die. I suggest using clear mattress bags from U-Haul.

Clothing & Towels - Wash after EVERY use. A pain, I know, but it is a MUST. Always wash in hot water with borax and dry at highest heat. Once dry, place the clean items far away from dirty clothes or bedding. Ideally, place in plastic bags to keep fresh. Also, to save hot water and time, go to a laundry mat on days when you have a lot to wash.

Carpeting - Vacuum daily. You should also sprinkle borax on carpeting and allow it to sit for an hour before vacuuming. IMMEDIATELY toss out vacuum bag in outside trash. If possible, have them steam cleaned as well.

Sofa/Furniture - I have slip covered sofas -- I washed the slip covers in hot water and borax and then dried with highest heat. I sprinkled borax on sofa frame and let it sit for an hour before vacuuming. Unable to wash in a machine? Sprinkle borax on the actual sofa, leave for an hour and vacuum. Do daily for 3 - 4 days.

Finally, YOU - Take a nightly bath; warm water, 1 cup epsom salt and 1 cup borax. Soak fully submerged (up to neck) for 1 hour. Pat dry. Only handle/use clean bedding and clothes after your bath. Try that for 4 days - then, switch to this nightly bath; warm water, 15 drops of pure tea tree oil and a half a tea spoon of olive oil. Soak fully submerged (up to neck) for 30 mins. Pat dry. Only handle/use clean bedding and clothes after your bath.

Don't stop too soon if it's working -- they WILL come back! Keep up the routine and make sure you wash EVERYTHING.

My best friend use to live with me and her baby had scabies. I have had them for about 3 months and just found out last night what they are. I have no insurance so i can't go to the doctor and I have a 8 months daughter so im terrified that i'm going to give them to her. Is there any thing i can do at home to get rid of them? I really need help!
I have been cured. dermatologist have me permetherin, I used it four treatments...it's suppose to go away in one. Later Doctor gave me Prednisine steroid tablets by mouth, in a month they were gone, two months later he gave me a shot of Prednisone again. Now I have the residual dead scabies under skin, i continue to apply the steriod creams, it's been a long haul, but at least it's not like before. I still get pimples and itch, but it's dead scaies now. Let me know how you fair...

You need to just start reading the forums here a lot of people have tried many things to rid these and some got cured and others counting me are still trying to find a cure.
Good luck to you.
If it's scabies I've been cured Doctor needs to give you Permetherin cream. If that doesn't work, Prednisone steroid tablets by mouth. He also after two months gave me another shot of prednisone. Then it takes time to heal under the skin, depends on how long you had them. I'm still using the steroid cream for the dead residule under my skin, still get the pimples, and some itch sometimes, but the nightmare is now gone. I went through hell, and I'm here to help.

Should I stop working out and going to the gym if I think I have scabies? Will it affect the scabies or make things worse?

Try getting kerosene pour in wash cloth dab on skin leave an hour then shower. Also you could take a bath with 91% alcohol half of bottle in your bath water make sure water is pretty hot and use sulfer soap and soak for 30 mins. You will itch like crazy but try to soak for 30 mins. Then use vasoline lotion pour half out add 1oz peppermint oil and 1oz clove oil rub on body except private areas. Get some odorless garlic pills take them and cayenne fruit pills and beta carotene pills. To spray in house use alcohol and peprrmint oil and water in a spray bottle.can use on private part just rinse until itching stops.

I used sulphur powder mixed with a simple cold cream which my skin was able to absorb quickly and I also found sulphur soap in a drug store.
It was smelly and very messy - wear old pjs or something you can throw away when your done.
I used the cream each night for 3 nights washing it off in the moring using the sulphur soap and it seemed to work.

You can't buy it in a store like Wal-Mart or orcheslins?
