oh my gosh Canuchette!!! I can't believe it! This is a GREAT report!!! I'm so excited that I logged on today. I stay away from here alot cuz... there are so many crazy posts that just don't work. As you know. I've had it for a year! And tried it all - including the advantix thing. I just got a new perscription of stromectrol and premethrin from my doc who agreed finally that it won't do any harm for me to try it again.(she reminded her self out loud that 50% of it is placebo... nice).
So please, please keep me up dated. I will head out to buy the stuff this weekend. Can you just buy the glycerin on the shelf too? I've never looked for it.
Thank you and Gab so much. Hope this works. It would be so nice to end it all. Finally.
I think you can buy it in pharmacies in the US but they don't seem to have it here in Canada in liquid form, at least not where I checked. I bought it at a health food store. Apparently that kind is edible, some of which is made from soya. The health food variety is not drying to the skin at all. I had been using it externally and it seemed to be helping. I had thought that I was a lot better than I actually am, considering how many this new recipe shows me are still there. A 1/4 cup is 60 mL, so according to the recipe from Gab in Hungary, that would be 4 Alka Seltzers, and contrary to the recipe, I used a small handful of borax. I'm going to re-do this tonight. It's having a dramatic, if unwanted, effect, since I thought I was better than I am. I'd like to know if what's coming out is dead or alive, is the borax/Alka Seltzer/glycerin mix killing them as they try to escape. In any case, they are trying to escape it.

Hi Gab,
We're trying to reproduce your Hungarian pharmacist's recipe with some readily available ingredients. Did this really get you better? How often did you apply it and what was its effect? How long did it take you to get better?
I feel like it really is helping, especially in bringing them out, but we'd like to know your experience.

HI Christine,
I've switched to the 50/50 Windex and Ammonia mix. I think it works faster and more effectively.

Hi, I was hoping you could give us an update. Is the recipe working?
Also is the glycerin called something else? I hope you are better.
I just know one of us will come up with the cure. Hope it's soon.
I think I'm going to the iver but still looking for the right topical. I know after many try's permethrin doesn't work for me. If your recipe kills them, that would be the ticket. I can't tell if thy are dead when I pick them off or it's just there refuse from their burrows. Good luck to all of us.

That's funny because I saw eight (8) doctors and two specialists and they were clueless about how to cure me! And there are many on this forum who experienced the same. I was cured because I took control of my condition and learned from this forum what works best. Not all treatment regimes work for everyone, but the primary cure today is oral ivermectin with topical Permethrin. Doses vary depending on severity. Doctors will take your money and either call you delusional or tell you that a over the counter lice remedy cures Scabies! What! There is sound advice on this forum if you look for it.

Christine- I'm absolutely desperate & when I saw that you'd alreadytried Advantix(which is currently all over me), my heart sunk. I'm a mom of 2 young kids & have been in a hotel now for almost a wk. The bugs were on my face so badly at nights that I hadn't slept in over awk & I was getting very sick so I knew I had to get out of environment. I've tried everything. When you did Advantix, did you dilute it & how much did you apply? How long? I'm doing this & horse paste orally & I still have ivermectin pour on for cattle to try topically. I just need to get back to my babies;(

In the last few days, I've been doing both - the 50/50 ammonia and Windex mix all over, followed by the glycerin mix. The glycerin is sticky and anything coming out gets stuck in the glycerin. Anyway, they seem to be working well together. I have trouble taking the ivermectin orally. Prior to finding the two latest treatments, I had tried silver (10 parts per million) and it was working very well, but I was afraid of turning blue. The claim is that at 10 parts per million, you can't turn blue, but the mites coming out of my skin were blue. If your skin is darker, the silver would likely be a great solution. It's supposed to kill parasite eggs.

The glycerin is called just that, and found at larger health food stores. I mix it and the borax in a bit of hot water, then add the glycerin.

Hey Canuckette, we want to know, are they dead when they come out or are they still alive after the glycerin & borax, asperin applications. We are going nuts with this stuff.

Try five caps of bleach in a bath tub. Found on another site. From an employee of a nursing home.

Hi Dez,
THanks, much better. I've given up on the glycerin for something quick and cheap. I mix one half Windex with one half ammonia. It does a good job of bringing them out so they can be rinsed away. I think it pretty much kills them when it hits them. As always, the issue is how to kill what's under the skin, but regular use really helps.

Just a warning - the fumes are horrible, so keep a fan going or a window open and try not to breathe it in.

Not for me. It can be watered down a bit if necessary for tender skin.
