I know I posted in the "cured" thread before but Christine asked that I post in another week. It has now been another week and 4 weeks in all of treatment. I still itch occasionally but the pinpricks are gone. Sometimes after I treat I still get crawlies but I am sure that is because I just slicked my whole body in oil and all the little hairs slowly move back into place making a crawling sensation. I have no new bites and am stopping treatment altogether today. I am finding myself a bit addicted to slathering that oil on every night but I am resloved to stop. I treated myself to my favorite, expensive body lotion and I will put that on instead. I think the replacement action will help me wean off of the treatment and my husband will be happy too;-)
Has your husband been treated for scabies? Sorry, I don't recall. But it appears your cured on well on the way.

el scabie, congrats and glad you're cured. Yes if you could post here what treatments you did and how often, etc. Not just when you stopped treating, but what you did before that got you to the cured part. thanks.

I thought we should add a new thread for people who are cured, so they could share what specifically they did to be cured in the hopes that we may all post in this thread soon.

10 month Scabies battle over.
When I really got serious I took Ivermectin once a week for 4 weeks. At the same time I fed a metered dosage to my Cats also. Plus the cleaning.
But the itches and creepy crawly's continued.
I went to a Dermatologist who could find nothing, but gave me a prescription for a tub of a Triamconolone cream which is something like hydrocortisone I think (could be wrong).
It helped to ease the itch-scratch cycle.
Now has been over 4 weeks and I feel like a new man.
The dermatologist is the only one of 5 or 6 doctors I saw that new what the "F" was going on.
Ivermectin and 5% cream are the most valuable tools. Plus a decent dermatologist.
You can scam 5% permitherin cream from "Canada Pharmacy" but I had to pretend I was a doctor.
Ivermectin is harder to get, but I had a relative from a Central American country bring me a TON as they eat it like aspirin there.
Good luck.
Its over!!! I am cured. Please check weekly treatments forum to find out the cure...weekly treatments is the key. Iver + Perm.

The medicine ie perm only makes us feel like we are still infected because of the crawling sensations. Crawling and itching does not mean that you are still infected. I had the crawling sensations after being cured however the gradually decreased when I stopped treating.

I wish all of you well and keep praying!!:)

Hey Mary, Is it easier to cure human scabies vs animal scabies. Im noticing that you are having an issue because you have animals. I do not have any so will it be MUCh easier on me???

It depends on so many different things, Scared. I have a poor immune system and I am getting up there in age. I had to give up all my pets because of this. So, now it is just me, no one else right now (as my son is gone for 3 to 6 months, right now). You have some babies, so you are pretty young, and all of you should be able to cure this quickly if you do the right things. Have you taken any ivermectin yet? That in combination with topicals, like permethrin cream, benzyl benzoate, and keeping your environment cleaned with bleach and borax, etc., you should be able to beat this with not that much problem. Mites like to live in humid dark conditions. keep your home free of humidity, and your car, too.

Be careful with BB in dryer. It will corrode the lining of the dryer. It is a solvent. Will melt the plastics of remote controls, keyboards, computer mouse. I use it as a topical mixed with alcohol. order a gallon.

Cured? Maybe?... My story:

My boyfriend and I both started showing symptoms at around the same time. Weird though, like little itchy zits on my hands, he had a traditional rash on his trunk. So, I went to the doctor and asked him shat he thought it was. He pretty much said, "I dunno, what do you think it is?" I said I was scared that it was scabies, he said "well it probably is." I think it was his last day before moving, not very helpful. I got a permethrin prescription and shared it with my bf, we vacuumed, cleaned everything (we don't live together) and treated ourselves. It all went away gradually with intense post-scabies itching.

Then I got a severe poison oak rash and got some prednisone, so I never knew what itching was from what. This is around July 25th-ish. Immediately after I stopped my prednisone treatment, they came back in patches on my arms, back, and buttocks. My symptoms weren't really bad... pretty mild I should say. I only got woken up about five or so nights from itching during the whole thing.

Then I started reading all these posts about having scabies for years and not getting rid of it, all your gruesome stories and pictures and frustrations... and I repeated them back to my boyfriend in hysterics, who promptly told me to calm the hell down!

No one else we live with show any symptoms to this day, even sharing furniture.

So, I ordered Scabies Killer online, and added an extra little bottle of tea tree oil to it. I wrapped my mattress in plastic garbage sacks and duct tape, washed everything in borax, borax on the carpet, lysol on the furniture and in my car, lysol on my shoes, treated two cats and a dog with revolution. I scrubbed myself with sulfur soap and rinsed off, then treated myself with Scabies Killer enzyme solution and oil mix. I did my bedding laundry in the morning and sprayed my covered mattress with lysol.

After doing one treatment, I already felt better. I left the Scabies Killer on my skin for two days, spot reapplying wherever I felt itchy. I stopped doing my bedding laundry when I saw that the oil soaked into my sheets, I thought it would be a good thing to let it build up.

I stopped treating myself like crazy about two weeks ago. I treated my whole body the other night for the hell of it, and I always use the sulfur soap in the shower every time. My roommates still don't have it.

I think all my boyfriend did was wash his clothing a little more regularly, vacuum his matress once, spray permethrin lice killer on bed and furniture. He eats four or five raw cloves of garlic a day and uses sulfur soap in the shower. He never started showing symptoms the second time around, it was just me. We sleep together a couple times a week, so I just assume that if I show symptoms, he must have it too, and talked him into doing at least something...

Everything is going well. I can't tell, since the symptoms were wo mild to begin with, and I itch from healing kitten-scratches all over. I've just decided not to worry. No one else has gotten it, I may not have even had it to begin with, and I am content with using Scabies Killer and sulfur soap once a month forever.

Just being on here makes me feel reinfested. See ya.

I got rid of them in a matter of days with East Cape Manuka oil...I had scabies for 4-5 weeks, during which time i was only getting 3-4 hrs of sleep a night because of the itching. Obviously it was driving me crazy and the anxiety from these mites is familiar to anyone who has them. I dont see many people referencing this oil in the forums, but it absolutly worked for me and i wanted to post because i remember the hell i was going thru. Its an oil from the East Cape region of New Zealand i believe, and it immediatly relieved the itching. I got a little 5 ml bottle of 100% oil and mixed about 40 drops into a 12 oz. bottle of uncented lotion from a natural foods store. I first put undiluted 100% oil on any spot where i knew they where, from visually seeing the burrows or from repeated itching...then i lotioned my whole body after i showered. In the next couple days I kept that lotion with me and any time i felt any little itch i would lotion that spot. Honestly after the first day i used this oil i slept the whole night thru. Even the aroma of this stuff calmed my anxiety over these mites...I would highly recommend googling East Cape Manuka Oil and getting some...I got mine for under $20, though i saw some sites selling it for more...and make sure it is 100% EAST CAPE Manuka Oil.

Dont laugh, but I had been scratching in my scalp and out of desperation tried Miconazole 7 , which is a usally used as a antifungal for yeast infections. It has helped, I dont see the sores anymore and the area is free of the itching i would usually feel. you can get it over the counter at any pharmacy.
However , im still battling these little suckers, wish me luck, and give it a try.

I guess I'm ready to say I'm officially cured. Have been for quite some time, but I wanted to wait and make sure there weren't any unpleasant surprises. Most everyone knows my story, so I won't re-post it.

Thanks to everyone here especially Sam and Mary! You guys are the bomb diggity!

Hello everyone.

I have been cured now for about two months at least (probably much longer). Thanks for all the info everyone has given me.

I have gone through almost everything listed on these forums, and spent a lot time going through the scientific literature. Also just just recently I had a chance to meet with one of Australia's foremost experts on the subject.

I have posted my whole story and my aggressive treatment plan in greate detail. I have summarized some of the most insightful of the research I read. I have posted my experience with post scabies/post treatment. And I just added some details about my meeting with the parasitologist I mentioned above.

This is all posted on Progress' Scabies Forum.

A lot of what I say on it may fly in the face of what some other people here believe and what you may actually be sensing yourselves.

So take it or leave it, but I recommend at least reading it because there is a lot of stuff on there that no one else has discussed or mentioned on any of these other forums.

Goodbye and good luck.
