I have been doing good with laundering with hot water, bleach, and borax and then hot dryer. I got paid, but decided not to buy the BB. My whole problem lies in the fact that the dog mites are resistant to the ivermectin. That is my problem. I am just not going to spend a lot of money on this right now. I was contemplating buying Revolution for them again -$65 for a 6 pack, but, still, Revolution hasn't worked either. I would like to know if I can put the dogs in the washing machine with bleach, borax, and hot water... lol..... and then a hot dryer... lol.... just kidding. poor pups.

Thanks, you and Slomo have me convinced. I'm going to order the BB.
I'm not sure how much to order. I think Slomo ordered a Gal. How much did you order?
Thanks Mary, I know you were the one who first posted the link to buying BB at the best price.

First I got the liter of BB. I have a top loader so using one ounce in each load (let it soak). I used some BB to make a skin solution, that helped some. The liter ran out quickly so I just received my gallon today. Recommend just get the gallon. I tried to find a local chemical supply company that carried it, but no luck here.
Thanks,

I ordered a gal of the BB. My front loader holds a big load of wash.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the votes are in and have been counted. The winner is ...

Scabies in Vegas: She went down to Mexico, got ivermectin, Scabisan shampoo (1% perm) and cream (5% permethrin), Hastilian lotion (a Benzyl Benzoate treatment you can't get in the US). For $50 total to treat 3 people. Cleaned with bleach, cleaned everything like a crazy woman, bought all new bedding, new clothes for 7 days and only used those clothes. AND she had a 10 month old baby that had it. She only treated twice, cleaned for 3 weeks, and cured it - good job Scabies in Vegas!

Honorable Mention goes to: Mary and Been There, for not giving up your pets and for your perseverance in treating them and yourselves.[I would have sent the pets packing long ago]

Special Thanks to: Slomo for being the Voice Of Reason on this board, and staying around to help others long after you were cured.

The Grand Prize goes to Mee Too: She tried boarding her doggie, but he wouldn’t eat while not at home, so she took him home, left her apartment, LIVED AND SLEPT IN HER CAR for 21 days while she treated herself with ivermectin, took showers at the gym, used the sauna there, Mexican dog sulfur soap on her hair, took a garlic powder that she said really helped, went to work every day, and visited her lonely doggie at her apartment with plastic bags on her feet for one hour each day. She is cured, thank God.

No contest is complete without the Booby Prize: I, Sam, accept this award because after all the Permethrin treatments I have done, Ivermectin, Sulfur, tea tree oil, other products I wasted money on (Scabies Killer, Enzyme everything), balsam of Peru, tumeric spice, a mountain of Borax, an ocean of bleach, broke my vacuum and my washer, I got 3 new breakouts today. But thanks to all of you people on this board, I’m a gazillion % better and have high hopes for a complete cure soon. Hang in there Everyone!

I had to pay $50 for a Gal. plus 21.45 shipping for the BB. It better work.

If you can get it shipped to the US, this stuff is supposed to work better than Revolution. Advocate is available in Australia. Advantage Multi in Canada and New Zealand.

Mary, do you still have symptoms or just the dogs? You could put the BB on the dogs because it's a known scabicide. Or some people have used a Mexican dog shampoo that has sulfur in it? They have numerous Vet pharmacies just across the boarder, maybe go down there and see what they have that you have not tried? Everything is really cheap there!!

Yes, I still have symptoms, but these are dog mites, not human scabies. The dogs are the problem. I was able to rid myself of these mites when the dogs were kenneled, but they came back with mites. I don't live close to Mexico, very very far away for me. On the other hand, Been There lives very close to Mexico and she would have a field day there. I wish I was that close. I just ordered some Advocate online. It was $84 for six vials. Been There posted some information on it in the Pet Thread. Thanks Sam. You have been so helpful to everyone.

Hope the Advocate works for you. Where did you find it? I'll order some too.

Ok, Mary and Sam, I'll take a little drive down to Mexico.

Sam, thanks for the Mexico shopping list.

Mary, I wish you could go to Mexico with me. We could stop for some Margaritas and tacos.

And Special Thanks to the poster Nails Are Reserviors of Mites who pointed out that nails are reserviors of mites. He or she did not become completely cured until putting wart remover and ivercare horse paste on all 20 nails for some time.

Also to Frances for the idea of wearing the plastic clogs in the house so you can clean them often. Is Frances Scabies for 3 years cured? She hasn't posted all week.

Sam, thanks for the chuckles.

Do not forget Scabies in Fl. who inlightened us about Ivermectin Horse Paste and Martin's Permethrin 10%. I nominate Scabies in Fl. for an award.

Jackie, very good of you to post all the things you used to bring an end to this. Very valuable information in your posts. WHat brand of Iver were you using that you used every day or 3 days? You must have been really miserable.
farnam ivercare 1.87% horse paste. i was too shy to go back to the feed store, so i just ordered it online at www.petmeds.com

N Do you have any other suggestions to clean the carpet?
You can rent a steam vac and steam vac the carpet.
The steam vac shampoo has some mite toxic additives, and you can add benzyl benzoate 1:10 ( 1 part bb to 9 part water). This should take care of the carpet.
The BB is pretty safe, and will have a residual effect for months.
See the BB thread where to get it.

Mary, I got the BB today. It's in my laundry all over the house and on me. So I'll let you know. I'm itching like crazy tonight and hoping it's not live mites after me again.

How about just spraying the carpet with your receipe of 1 part BB and 2 parts water? I sprayed the heck out of the house today.

I rented a carpet shampoo machine and as it sprays, it sucks back up.

PLEASE HELP....I'm seeking some certain information and I'd really appreciate some help. Does anyone know if the amount of time you suffer with active scabies affects the amount of time you suffer with post scabies symtoms? I no longer want to try to rely on doctor's information because they keep saying you can't catch and keep scabies because of contact with an animal affected with mange....I know that info. is wrong because I've tried for 2 years now to successfully treat myself. 6 months ago I treated myself, home, and vehicle with DermaTechRX products. At this point I experience only the rare, almost like dry skin type of itch...It's no different day or night, doesn't get worse at night. However, I still have small red spots and even as of this week new red spots. I don't know what to do anymore because I don't have health insurance anymore and am finishing college, so going to a new doctor or dermatologist is not an option for the next few months. Also, I've been told by some sources about "Post Nodular Scabies" which is basically when someone with sensitive skin has the scabies debris trapped under their skin. I'm thinking maybe that's my problem or I might just be freaking out for nothing if post scabies symptoms really last longer than a month or two after treatment. I don't know much else and was hoping one of you might know more about these things. Sorry about the long post, but I really need help and would appreciate any and all information from anyone willing to share. Thank you so very much and the best of luck to everyone.
