Good idea about the eyeglasses and boric acid. I don't think I have bird mites. I cannot see not one under the scope. I don't know, though. Could be animal sarcoptic mange.
How do you get them under the scope? If you can't see them how do you know you've got one to look at?

How many would be in my room running around?

I was given Benzoato de Benzila and told to put it all over my boady twice a day after showing with a BB soap.
I did this for 4 days. It burns like hell where the major hives are on my penis and testicles.
But I wasn't improving. I washed everything and it got such a drying that my clothes burnt me to pull otu of the dryer. I got some Mortein and sprayed all over my matress and around elsewhere things I couldn't wash.
Nonetheless still itching like crazy every night. I change my bedding every night too and put in plastic bags for a wash.
Finally I have gone and bought invermectin. You can just buy anything over the counter here in Brazil.
I'm amazed at how hard these bastards are to get rid of. I don't live with anyone. The scabies came on a used bed I bought. I assume they are scabies.
At first I thought they were gentital herpes.
Benadril, attarax or Allegra will all help you with the itching. You'll be able to sleep. I was prescribed 3 allegra per day at first. I like allegra because it doesn't make me sleepy. Get a good nights sleep.

We don't have Mortein in the US, since we are so backwards and crazy and all that. It might, but since you think you got them from the bed, just get rid of it and buy a new bed like we do here in the US. The person who sold it must have wanted to get rid of it because they couldn't get the scabies out of it.

Ive had these buggers for months. tried permethrin and tea tree oil, it didnt totally get rid of them even with treatments every 7 days. im going to try a 3 pronged assault.
First a perm treatment every 7 days, next a doese of ivermectin, and every day a application of "sulfur powder sublimed" mixed with coldcream or vasaline.
I cant get ivermectin from a doctor easily so considering ordering some for horses off ebay and taking a dose that treats 200lbs of animal. you think that will all kill me?

Well, it's not a microscope; it is a pocketscope. I take a clean white tissue. I fold it down to a small square. I spray the tissue with a good dose of hydrogen peroxide. Then I swipe my face with it, ensuring I have swiped all areas of my face - temples, cheeks, hairline, eyebrows. Then I scope the tissue. Wowwy!! Whoa!! Take a look at this. There's a party going on on my face. The pocketscope is 60x magnification and can be bought off of ebay for less than $10. I have a hard time getting a specimen to look at with my microscope; that's a whole other matter. It's easier using the pocketscope, although the pocketscope's magnification doesn't go any higher than 60x.

I have been to a few forums now, trying to find a cure for my ailment, then I realized today, I am not sure anymore if I have scabies or bird mite infestation, as all symptoms fit......
Can someone tell me, if one can have both ? I will gladly share with you my story, thanks.
Right now, I am so tired, about do the perm treatment tonight, tried so many other forum suggested remedies, epsom salt appears to help to get some rest from the attack, also quite 'foggy' from all the harsh cleaners I have been using, yes, including getting boric acid, which I sprinkled around my bed, the car floor then realized not only made things worse for me and the things and I must get borax (can not find it in my local drugstore)
please help me, thank you !

MinCali- the borax that you have read people reffering to is a laundry booster or additive that you will find in the laundry detergent sections of most groceries. It used to be called 20 MuleTeam Borax....it is a powder, not boric acid.(don't know if they're related) So look in the laundry detergent section, you can put on carpeting and let it sit for a few days as well as on your car seats them and car carpets, add borax to your laundry , some people have even used it in there baths...but mostly it is for environmental and laundry cleaning...read the posts and learn and hopefully you'll find some answers...good luck...TooLong

Well fine, thanks for your reply TooLong, how kind of you, duh! I have figured out the borax vs boric acid thing since...
still in search for identifying the source of my particular dilemma of scabies vs. bird mites, both or what the heck caused my life to change so dramatically....

Cali - probably scabies. I think a lot of the people on the bird mite forum have scabies, but that's just my opinion.

If you want to tell your story maybe others will offer their opinions. Did the perm help?

Hi sulfur mixed 10 pecent with 90 percent hand creme works well, it is to be used for 15 days. I break up the days in to 3 day appling then 3 days rest
It soothes the itch imeadialtly and makes the bumps go away. I had 700 at one time. They went away . I found to not think about the problem just pray to God & apply the sulfur top of head to toe and for get it and let the sulfur do it job.
Certain areas were hard to get them off of
Eyes : I use betadine wiped carefully on a moist eye brow , very slowly . then rinse in 5 minutes. Betadine is not good for the eyes so I didn't get it in it , I keep my eyse closed
The mites were gone for 3 weeks fro that , I had them in my eyes & eyebrows for 6 months before that. The betadine absorbs into the thin skin areas easily and kills the bug. Sometime I would need to do it 2 times in 2 days.
I the midde of my back they would not stay gone , so I sulfured for 3-5 days the attacked the couple of hold out spots. I used a hair dryer on medium and heated up the bump till it was warm , the hot then when it felt to hot I jerked it away. All those problem areas the kept coming back even after many sulfur treatments died. I never felt them again. The skin did not get damaged at all , No scar , no real pain

[QUOTE I was wondering if any of you, who know for a fact that they have regular, human scabies, and have only scabies on atypical places like their upper backs, armpits, scalp, furred side of forearms and some on the front side of their legs??? Q. Do the finger webs and toe webs and groin area involvement, inner wrists, inner elbows and inner knees and all those regular scabies places just come LATER for a some people????? Anybody have those characteristic sites just show up later on? Thanks, Welty<quoted text>[/QUOTE]

Yes, I did not have any burrows showing which is why the doctor did not take me seriously.

I have them on my face, eyelashes, hair, chest, soles of feet, palms of hands, backs of thighs, privates.

The first symptom was my face going red like it was being bitten.

The same evening I massaged my whole body with hand hygiene gel and about 50 of these "sand grains" came out.

Three weeks later, I got sores on my back and groin. Those scared me but only lasted a couple of weeks.

Only two months into the infestation, I got typical signas: burrows between fingers.

Buy the following things:

- L'Oréal Elnett Hairspray, big bottle. You can use it daily on your computer (turn it off first), small items and bag. It glues the critters to where they are. You can also use it on your sheets every night before sleeping, wait until it dries.

- a big jar of Vaseline. This is what Africans use. Use this on your eyelashes, nose and generally face every night. Use big blobs of Vaseline that you apply in bed after closing your eyes.

Permethrine is strong stuff so not to be abused, but I am trying the 3 night permethrine with no showering. Just adding permethrine cream to entire body, and vaseline to face and privates, as well as Derbac to hair. Changing into clean clothes and sheets every day and night.

- table salt can be sprinkled under your sheets and inside your clothes.

good luck to all of us

Are you going to tell people to spray HAIRSPRAY ON THEIR COMPUTERS??? So, the next time they flip on their computer, it doesn't work????

Yep! I pour 1/2 the Walmart bottle in the tub - two baths a day - done. I mix a little with grapeseed oil and the carrier and apply after the bath while my pores are still open. Not sure if that is a good thing or not.
In fact,I was not convinced I had them until two days ago. Thought it was a stress rash because it started on the top of my thighs - but then progressively got worse. Took a cortisone shot and no relief from the itch.
I am saddened at the cost of cream, doctor visits, etc. I should have known better. Oh well.
I hope this helps everyone. Thanks a million to "I am cured using 100% undiluted tea tree oil." We need more considerate people like you posting!
What a nightmare. It is beyond distracting, makes you feel dirty and gross, and more than anything...appreciate nice itch-free and bump free skin! Wow. There is some perspective to be learned.
Good luck to everyone. If the thought of a tea tree oil bath is unappealing - make it fun. Play some great music, light a candle, and tell those little sh**s they are "outta here." -Worked for me.
Best to all.

I AM CURED 100%!

I got scabbies from my workplace. Everyone got it! Literally. Of course the Permitherin cream did NOT work, after the 3rd bottle, i figured that out. I believe it actually spreads it to be honest. Thats when i discovered this site, and few others..

Here is the deal:

-BORAX with every load of laundry, HOT WATER ONLY!
-NEVER wear anything twice.
-Buy real tea tree oil(100% organic) not the pharm one, orange oil, peppermint oil, and witch hazel via health food store, or GNC.
-Put 15 drops of each into an unused spray bottle, with warm water, and 1 cup of witch hazel. i used this spray on everything ie, linens, clothes, shoes, sheets, pillows.
-High heat pillows in dryer for 45 min. ALL CLOTHES BONE DRY!
-I had bedding spray with permitherin in it, which i sprayed on everything before showering, and keep fans out, and AC on high, which is easy when you live in south FL.( BEWARE OF SPRAYING THE PERMITHERIN SPRAY WITH ANIMALS IN HOME!)
- Shower 2-3 times a day! & apply this concoction to effected areas every night and morning:
Purell sanitizer with aleo on body, air dry. I used a clean paper towel, fold it in fours apply 5-10 drops of all oils onto it, and wet with witch hazel, and apply to effected areas. Sleep with little or no clothes on.(helps with smaller loads of laundry)
-3-4 times a week take a bath with: 1/2 bottle of hydrogen peroxide, 20 dropps of each oil, 1 cup of witch hazel, and 2 cups of LISTERINE CITRIS MOUTHWASH. My baths were always piping hot. Warning: IF YOU HAVE DRY, SENSITIVE, OR OPEN LESIONS ON YOUR SKIN BE CAREFUL!!
(AFTER my first bath with formula the ithcing dissapeared completely, and the effected areas were 80% clear!)
-Never use a bath towel more than once!
-Disinfect all areas in home with clorox wipes, lysol, and the spray bottle concoction.
-CHANGE BED LINENS Evert single MORNING! STRAIGHT INTO A PLASTIC BAG & STRAIGHT INTO WASHING MACHINE!
-Apple cider vinegar 3 tbsp 2 times a day, decrease simple carbs, and SUGAR! THESE GUYS FEED ON SUGAR!
-P E R S I S T A N C E is KEY TO RID YOURSELF OF THESE MITES!
- i was taking vit c 500mg once a day along with multivitamins. Substitute all fruit juices for water, and limit sugary fruits.
-I am no doctor but this slew of things most definitely worked for me.
