OMG!!! I've been battling with the same thing for 4 going on 5mos now since i gave birth to my daughter! We've been diagnosed with scabies about 3 times & treated w/permethrin about 8 times since May! Went to pharmacy for my script & noticed a lot of other scripts for permethrin for other ppl to pick up!!! More frequently in my community ppl are complaining of weird rashes alot of them new babies! So whats going on. My doc says scabies is becoming a problem in our community. Recently almost everyone I have come in contact w/ for at least 10 mins w/o physical contact begins picking at their eyelashes or rubbing at their arms or legs & appear to be looking for something there. Almost everyone I come in contact with on a regular basis (family/church) has started having this weird itching, allergy like symptoms, issues with there eyes, some with a rash & some not, some being diagnosed with scabies & some not. I have 2 older children that go back & forth between my house & their fathers house on a REGULAR basis. Their father also has 2 other children that travel back & forth between his house & their mothers house. Also at their fathers house my kids have company stay over almost every weekend! Their grandmother also lives there & has been diagnosed with scabies. My kids father has only had a mild rash that has subsided after using permethrin. His other children's mother has been having pink eye issues & has a dog in the home. She also works with the eldelry & mentally disabled, so she constantly exposed to illness.& there is just a lot of traffic there so its hard to treat everyone in this circle.Especially when everyone in this circle doesnt believe there is anything wrong and isnt affected as severely as everyone else. But for some reason i feel that even if everyone in this circle does a thorough treatment (physical/environmental) it will still come back. Many in my family have started to complain of itching & rashes, & mainly issues with their eyes. Ppl in my church have began to have itching & eyes issues! My church family does a lot of hugging! & My baby is so cute everyone wants to hold her. My 4mos old daughter has been being treated with permethrin since she was about 3wks old! She also is having a fine rash all over her body with bigger bumps in places of creased skin (neck, diaper area)since! Im not sure if it's from the use of permethrin or whatever this is living on us! After permethrin treatment & a seriously thorough environmental cleaning we're fine (rash subsiding,no more pin-pricks) for maybe a week!& then it comes right back in the same spots as before & also new places. She always has a rash on her eye lids & is constantly rubbing at her eyes. She doesnt sleep well because anytime i lay her down in her crib or anywhere else for that matter she begins to frantically rub at her eyes & cry. It gets so bad on some days that she punches her self in the face randomly! I dont know what to do. I also notices that she has episodes where her mouth itches intensly to the point that she cries. I breast feed solely & I've noticed that about a few seconds after she latches on she begins frantically rubbing at her right eye! She also has a rash around her mouth. At times I feel a stinging sensation in my breast around the areola. Sometimes she will detach from my breast immediately & put her fingers in her mouth & begin to pull at her gums as if her mouth is bothering her! I can tell that she feels things crawling on her because she randomly stares & scratches at her knees as if she feels something there.

CONTINUED...
I also noticed more recently that when I hold my daughter that out of the corner of my eye I see what seems like something tiny jump from her face to mine or vice versa! At first I thought it was just my imagination or that Im think too hard about these things crawling. But then yesterday I saw the same thing but this time I felt something land on my right cheekbone! Then within a matter of seconds I felt something crawl into my right eye! All of us just itch for no apparent reason. I feel things crawl into my eyes & sometimes a pin-prick in my eye. Recently I've been getting sties in my left eyelids top & bottom. I've never had a sty in my life until this! I have weird rash on my butt that always returns. I feel things crawling in my butt crack daily like air bubbles! My youngest son & my daughter sometimes have this odor of rotten eggs on them & i cant figure out why! My youngest son has this weird cough that seems to be getting worse. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE!!! HELP

Scabies are not supposed to be able to jump. Fleas jump like that.

For many people, it is easier to deny that there is a problem.

Who really wants to tell others as well?

It is unfortunate, but if you really want to rid yourself of them, you will likely have to limit personal contacts completely for a bit and then have contacts only with people who do the same and grow your community around that.

Once you have yours eliminated, it will be easier to talk about this.

PTA meeting may be a good forum.

Throughout history, education and information have allowed us to overcome many afflictions.

Scabies do not jump so this is likely a case of fleas as scabies travel very slowly across the skin within the dermal layer.

Thanks Bugged R. This whole ordeal has just been very taxing. Its taking a toll on my mental health. I dont know what this is that we suffer with, no one seems to have concrete answers. People think im crazy but then eventually they begin to itch as well. Im really afraid for my 5mos old daughter whos been exposed since birth...she now has pretty bad eczema. Every time I take her to the doc or derm they all pretty much brush this off as nothing in particular. i want to believe its nothing but cant deny my weird rashes, random pin-pricks in my toes, feeling things crawl on me late at night (mostly), the tiny crystal like matter i keep finding all over me & my daughters face. Im exhausted! dont know what else to do....

Dear hellbugz. I have a question I have a 5.5 month old baby. It all started after her birth. I notice she has like little bumps on the outside of her hands. And a rash under her eye too. Since two days she got a terrible rash all over her back and it's spreading. My baby girl is also rubbing her eyes all the time. Wish I could post pictures on Here from her rash and you could tell me our it looks the same. I am getting do desperate and I feel so sorry for my little one. And it's seems that all my surrounding is infected and I am scared we will never get rid of this.
