End of August I went camping for a few days while camping I noticed a few bumps on both arms but only there. Someone from work had a mark on his arm one day and question himself asking if he had scabies. This was before I went camping.
Being worried that maybe he did and thats what I may have right away I went and bought permethrin and used it. I washed every piece of clothing including bedding and towels. Cleaned my place from top to bottom. The bumps kinda were gone but I used the cream again a few days later. Throughout this process I would continue to get small bumps but not pimple like. I kept using the cream about twice a week for a couple months and cleaning everything every day. The bumps have not stopped. I had to shave my head as it felt like something there and I found some red spots. Now I have like a tingly feeling on my head that makes me feel like something is crawling. Is it possible this could be just caused by all the creams? when I feel something on me I grab some tape and put on that area then take off and go over with magnifying glass to never see anything move. I was going to try lindane but my sister said maybe I should wait it out and bit to see if it is just my skin reacting to all the crap I did to it. Oh ya I also put peroxide mixed with water and borox all over my body in the shower more then one. I went to 2 doctors and both were unsure what it may be although I never mentioned to them I had been using permethrin all the time. I get mild little itches not much of anything rub the spot and it is gone. I am in dire need of any suggested help that I can get right now. I am in fear of passing this to anyone so I stay in my place by myself and have blocked out the real world. Right now about across from both eyes at the hear line I have a bunch of marks but not pimple marks. |

Mine do not look like pimples. They do not have the white "head". More like small mosquito bites.
The tunnels look like short lines or small patches made up of short lines. Do the lavender oil trick and let me know how it works out. DON'T SCRATCH !!!!!:) |

Permethrin is reported to cause the same exact symptoms as the bugs themselves, including the bumps and crawly feeling. The prescribed treatment for Permethrin is two times, one application, then another 6-8 days later. If you have used the permethrin more than this, as you were saying "every three days" over a long period of time...well you could very well be having a reaction to the perm.
Before getting too worried about being infested, you need to heal your skin a bit from the poisons of the treatments. Make sure you moisturize your skin at all times of the day and night. I would recommend using either tea tree oil shampoo or head and shoulders (the blue bottle that contains sulfur or some sort). They say that the crawling sensations from the treatment will go away after about 2 weeks, if they persist...then it is time to get proactive with treating the bug. In the meantime, make sure you keep cleaning. Keep all your clothing in plastic, never let them feel the air coming out of the hot, hot dryer. Wash your clothes in borax and ammonia in HOT,HOT water, and let them soak in the borax and ammonia at least a half hour before running the washer. Get a zip up plastic mattress protector and one for your pillow. Wash your bedding after every use. If you do all this for two weeks and are still feeling buggie, its time to start getting aggressive with the bugs, but until then it is very hard to tell if you are just reacting to the Perm. |

Thank you. Been about a week since last treatment. I wash all bedding every day same as close. I have kept all my clothes in a bag and also got the mattress cover and pillow cover. Although I have stopped using my pillow even though I would wash the pillow case and the protector each day I feel better without using it. I have yet to still find anything moving although I feel something on my head and always in the same areas. Last night I got a new bump on my head and today 3 small bumps on my chest. I have been so tempted to go pick up lindane lotion just to try it but I am unsure. I feel at my wits end right now. Having to just sit here alone as I can't go anywhere or be with my family. I sure hope this clears up soon not sure how much more I can really handle. |

from everything I have read so far, it looks like if the bumps go away right away, like within 24 hours, that it is probably a reaction to the treatments. If they remain after 24 hours and you get the under the skin crawls in that area, it is probably a re-infestation. I am no doctor, and cannot prescribe what you should or should not do, but this is what I have learned from studying this crap like crazy since determining what I have. I recommend the ivermectin (stromectol by Rx) over lindane, because lindane is very caustic, but you gotta do what you gotta do to rid yourself of these pests. Do you have borax or Diatomaceous Earth on your carpeting to prevent reinfesting from the carpet?
I hope the bump goes away by the time you read this and that you are in the recovery mode. |

I have no carpets in my place so that would not be a cause. The amount of times I clean the floors is crazy if anything could live through that.
I am going to call to a dermatologist tomorrow to speak with them about this and see what happens. |

Hey sean, I think I can help bcuz I am sort of in the same situation. My sister had it and as a precaution, I did the permethrin cream. I am a student nurse and have done a lot of research on the permethrin, and have found out the side affects, It can produce itching, burning, tingling, temporary rash and numbness. Also, the cream drys the skin tremendously, I have treated my whole entire family, everyone tingles and itches when it goes on, I have went to 5 doctors and all of them say they dont see the classic signs which are burrows, an allergic reaction which would contribute to the rash, They all have said "If you have scabies, it wouldn't be guessing, you would know....one described it as not being able to sit still bcuz of unrentless itching.. then i did a test on myself: when I dont have my mind on it, i didnt itch but when I did, everylitte thing itched, pure paranoia for me but I am cautious, feel like I am going crazy, everytime i put the cream on.... |

That is what I am getting. I can sit there and do something with my mind somewhere else I don't feel anything but as soon as my mind is not busy it is right on this subject and I start to feel tingly. I think I am going to call a dermatologist tomorrow and see what they say. I am hoping I can get in without needing a doctor referal. I have been to 2 doctors. First one gave me a steroid cream the next said he didn't know what it was but asked me if I was ever told I have a heart murmur and next I know I am in for a ekg and ultrasound of my heart. lol I just can't feel 100% for sure that I have nothing unless I don't feel or see anything. Another post I was reading the person got a antibiotic gel called Clindamycin 1% to treat for folliculitis. I am wondering if that may be my issue at this point. When I first saw a few bumps on me it was when I was camping but got worried. Had nothing else nothing that even felt like it was crawling on me. Not long after using a bunch of the perm I started to get a tingly feeling on my head. I buzzed/shaved my head and noticed a red mark withing the crease at the back of my head. I don't know how much perm I used but a lot. I just wish this would go away. I find each day very depressing not being able to be around anyone. My one sister is the only person I have talked to about this and feels that it is from all the creams I used. When she was a teenager she got scabies from my cousin. She said my grandmother used just he nix shampoo on them both a couple times. It was left on for along time she said. The amount of cleaning I have done is far more then my grandmother would have done and they had no issues getting ride of it. |

Also to mention. I have great sleeps other then not using a pillow. I do not itch while I am sleeping. Nothing is bothering me then. Everything I read people mention the itch being even worse at night.

These critters go crazy with activity at night, that is the reason for all the complaints of extra itchiness at night. Generally speaking, the height of activity is midnight to 5 am and during this time they are absolutely relentless when it comes to crawling across your body and under the skin, that is why many of us have lost so much sleep and are desperate for answers and solutions. Sleep deprivation is one of the worst parts of having this bug, because people do things that they normally would think about longer if they were not sleep deprived. With the amount of perm you are talking about having used...I am going to venture a guess that your skin is overtreated and in need of some serious moisturizing, until you can get to a doc or derm, be sure to use moisturizing lotion at all times of the day and night to try to heal your skin. Hopefully you are in post scabies right now and have escaped the creepy crawlers for good.

Sam From Knoxville, "I surfed the message boards and found something that worked immediately but the next day came back. I called the company that makes Fossil Dust (Human Grade Diatomaceous Earth) and they said it takes two days for the Dust shells to enter the scabies exoskeleton and dry them out. Dryness kills them because they can't starve to death. You can buy it at the local feed store or pet store: " consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae."
