Hello everyone, my husband was in the navy and caught scabies at bootcamp. He brought it home to me when we would have intercourse. I found out a couple of weeks after we got married that I was pregnant. I started itching all the time, my skin started getting really rashy. On my wrists, inbetween my fingers, inbetween my toes, all over my thighs, all over my stomach, on my elbows, on my palms. I itched abosolutely all over! It was horrible! I had it for about 6 months. No clue what it was. I was about 3 or 4 months prego before I got cured. My daughter is now 6 months old and shes fine. Shes had no problem. The baby apparently doesnt get affected by all that. The mother just suffers. I would like to say though that I still itch sometimes. I still sometimes even claw but its not like so bad i think of suicide or anything. For the first 6 or 7 months after i used permethrin i still would break out but then it would go away. Apparently its from where the scabies lived in your skin and let off that stuff and its just screws up everything in your body for awhile. But it does go back to normal after awhile to where you don't even think of it anymore. I also used alot of permethrin when i was pregnant because i kept thinking it was coming back all the time. But it was just a reaction to the stuff that the mite lets off in your body. Just please don't give up and know that when you use permethrin it does kill the bug. Every single time you itch quite a bit or you have a little break out it doesnt mean its live. It means that your having a reaction to the crap that the mites left in your body and its trying to get rid of it. If you itch quite a bit for a few minutes and then the itch goes away or you break out for a couple of days and then it goes away then its not scabies. Just reaction to the mites. A year later i still get the itchies. But your body takes awhile to get over all that. Just give it time. Just don't keep going around people who have the bug. And also... The mite doesnt live in your furniture. Just be sure to wash clothes and special blankets in hot water. Good luck and God Bless!

hi there
i have read that the itches still happens occasionally after you have been cured for a year or more is because Permethrin sensitizes your skin after certain time of use.

E_Norsworthy thanks so much for taking the time to post in regarding your experience and cure from this affliction. Gives us all hope, I have doubts in my mind over being cured, being free for days then itching again, but Im hoping its just my body flushing out the contamination as you say.
Hope you are free of this for good!

Thank you so much cured people for sharing the post-affliction phase and most of all for continuing to check in here. We who are still this side of it need your input.

I had my rental car towed yesterday!(I was paying insurance, so at no extra cost). Couldn't bear to think of driving it back to airport--in fact of even getting in it ever again. I was so upset to learn, upon renting a car finally (dont have one in city) that I still had so many mites it could create this huge mite trap. I had just taken iver that day, so this could account for some of it. Power vacuuming and borax didn't work. It was contaminated. I moved to downtown St. Pete's, got an excellent rate at a hotel and so far can manage quite well without car.

Anyway, I know I'm not cured yet, but I do feel better, there's no doubt. I've been treating with iver, perm, eurax, and oils. Eurax is great, but I already just used the 4 tubes I ordered. There's more perm plus lots of oils--and I still have lots of iver!
Cured folks, thanks again. I can't wait til I'm one of the cured ones checking in here.

Hey Janet. I'm glad you got rid of that car. That was funny that you had it towed. You are taking no chances, I can see that. I look forward to seeing you post in the I'm Cured thread. Keep us posted. Are you going to buy the anise and/or clove oil that Aha spoke about?

You guys are very much welcome. Scabies can really mess with your mind and when you are rid of it and still get those bad itchies you start thinking oh no its still there! But as long as you use permethrin the way your doctor told you to and don't touch anyone that might have it. If someone you know might have scabies let them borrow some permethrin. I know that stuff can mess with your mind even after your well rid of it. God bless you all!

Well, I've had it 4 yrs this time around and have never gotten rid of it. It's not always true that it's gone after you use the perm.

That's not always the case. I know I still have mine because my Scabies crawl on my son sometimes and make him half itch to death.

i could always always tell an itch from a crawl
i know when something would be crawling on my body
a crawl is a crawl however you look at it .ive had my skin tingle, get numb, feel itchy, burn, but if your skin crawls and the crawling crawls in different places and you know the direction, it has itsy bitsy legs and they are walking. thats why i feel like im cured and having some mental issues and breakdowns and paranoia, i have a fear of them starting all over again, dont know if i could handle a double take of this

Thank you so much for sharing that information on scabies. I work in the Emergency room and I came incontact with a guy who had body lice "LOTS" that is the only person I could think of that I could have gotten scabies from. It is horrible! the doctor prescribed permethrin but I wasn't sure if it really work. I still itch and I have been so worry about passing it to my family. I'm so glad to hear your input...you answered all my questions. I can't wait to get rid of these bugs...yek. Thanks again

Just found out im pregnant...my 15 yr caught the dreaded "scabies" awhile ago. Everyone in the family was treated.recently tho ive been having the itchy bumps appearing in between my fingers, around my wrist, etc. So needless to say i assume I have them. Plus, my 18yr old son who; at the time my daughter was diagnosed was living on his own, has since moved back in has started complaining about itching&a rash. Ugh!!I think we are re- infected. My question is....does anyone know any home remedies? since I am pregnant and do not want to use the cream.
Thank you, Jan

i never used, but many say sulfur kills them.. i do know for a fact that oil, we initially used olive oil (the kind i use for cooking), thickly applied all over body, does pull the mites to the surface.. i think eggs too, we had what seemed to be salt granules surface, but we found out we were not dealing w resistant scabies like we initially thought, we actually had scabies, but also lyme and co infections, that mimic scabies.. so i do know oil pulls to surface, and good cleaning kills.. i am not so sure anymore tho if there are resistant scabies, or if most are dealing w infections from scabies.. if it goes past month, please consider infections.. i have 3, and we were close to losing ournow 1yo cause of the infections..(the lyme we had almost 8 yrs n didn't know, scabies for us turned out to be a blessing in disguise).. permethrin is a neurotoxin, and being pregnant, be careful what you use and research.. maybe just pulling them to surface and showering, plus good cleaning will work.. dawn dish liquid kills too, tho it dries skin, so use sparingly.. best of luck to u!! doctors are about useless when it comes to issues like this.. i think mainly bc infections being transmitted by mites is not largely recognized

Im 19 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I got scabies from my husband that contracted them from his brother. We just found out what it is that we have and im wrried about uaing his permetherin cream because I was told it could harm my baby but I have to treat this asap. It is or is it not safe to use this cream??? I cant contact a dr till monday and may not be able to see a dr for at least 2 weeks.

I would be careful using permethrin while you are pregnant. You are about 5 months pregnant with a developing fetus. Did your doctor prescribe this to you? Look for something less toxic until you are able to visit with your doctor. Like sulphur soap made for acne. Very safe. Let the soap dry on your skin for about 10 minutes. Rinse off. Any bites or itches, spray rubbing alcohol on them, for now. And then wipe off with an exfoliating towel. This will help reduce the surface mites on your skin and may even kill a few under your skin.

Hey I'm 36 weeks pregnant! Had scabies for a month and one half without not knowing what I had! Finally being treated for scabies used two tubes of premethrin, and now I'm concerned that I've caused any harm to my princess! Someone please help.
