maybe scabies again

I was cured through the advice on this forum 2 years ago. It took about 6 months. Tried Perm, tea tree oil, borax, sun bathing... it was finally plain old cheap sulfer and vaseline and head and shoulders blue that seemed to cure me. Coated myself however it was advised on this forum...wish I could find that old thread. I think just once a day for 30 mins or so? Wish I had not returned to the site of original infection. A week later...little itchy bumps are back. I will start with sulfer this time, and hope it won't take 6 months again.

I have some early 20th cent. literature that says 2 days straight then 10 days straight with some sort of oil. I decided since I know I can handle sulfur just fine that I would do 10 days straight.

The reason is so that no matter what I would be covered when/if the eggs hatch. According to popular knowledge it takes 3-7 days for the eggs to hatch so I figure I had this base covered very very well with 10 days.

By the way that same literature had some good studies done on how long it took to kill the scabies in sulfur. I remember it took three hours in plain dry sulfur powder.

Here is a different one that also says two days(couldn't find the one with studies)
He said two days with 1 part 2 part lard(substitute Vaseline)

Igor,
Thank you for the many fine contributions you are making to this board. I can report that LOW Sulfur products have been a terrific help in my own regimen. I had used a low sulfur soap bar, Sulfur8 Brand shampoo, and Sulfur8 Brand Medicated Creme, which was 2% sulfur. The best help was the creme which was very much like Vaseline. I don't think that these by themselves would have cured Scabies.

It did not stink. There was a very light smell of matches but not at all objectionable, my wife liked the smell. IMO low sulfur is best to prevent burned skin and Dermatitis. IMO, more sulfur is NOT better, and for god's sake rinse it off in the shower to prevent Dermatitis.

If you do a google search for sulphur + scabies( sulphur the way it used to be spelled) you will see most all the old literature recommends it in all sorts of variances in quantities most larger than 15% percent. If you go any lower then it will just rub when you are sleeping.

http://books.google.ca/books...

Many skin care products utilize sulfur because it regenerates skin cells. In my experience dermatitis has only occurred in minute instances from too much scrubbing with harsh soaps such as head and shoulders and baking soda when washing off in shower. Believe it or not, my recent 10 day straight sulfur treatment (when washing correctly) actually cured the dermatitis that was left from harsh scrubbing w/baking soda& Head and shoulders.

After 10 days straight of practical sulfur amounts 20-40% I only got a small rash under the arms but this is typical "post scabies" that you can expect with most any treatment.

I would much rather have a small skin rash than mental damage due to toxic abuse from Iver or perm ect.+ their skin damage.

Also I would rather have a small skin rash rather than run the risk of getting more embarrassing burrow
scars that will never go away. Some people have gotten them on their face.

In my opinion most people wont even get a rash if sulfur is used properly.

Igor,

Note this:
".... Many recent studies suggest that the mites need to breathe...Scabies burrows show small holes in the roof denoting the need for air. The vaseline in the sulfur ointment forces them out to breathe. This makes them burn in the sulfur. It is a good system to cure them...." Maybe this is why my Sulfur8 Brand of creme seems to be so effective? It is just Vaseline with 2% sulfur.

Could an effective cure be so SIMPLE ? Is my grapeseed oil simply smothering the little monsters?

Also there is also a WEALTH of sulfur tips at the above link.

Here we have another series of valuable messages posted to the wrong thread where they are lost forever. Search does not work on messages.

***PLEASE HELP said, "Please help me! I want to buy the sulphur ointment but I dont know how much to buy. Does anyone know how much is needed for 1 treatment? And how many treatments I should do? The website selling it says the tub is 2.2 ounces but not how much is needed for an application.
Also Has anyone except Vann tried and succeeded with the Diatomaciuous Earth?

***Joe said, "They are really small jars of the stuff, and they are not expensive, so buy a few of them. You can also mix your own sulfur ointment by buying sublimed powdered sulfur, and mix 10% with 90% body lotion and/or vaseline. the 4 ounce container of sublimed powder sulfur makes ALOT of this mixture. americarx.com sells the sublimed sulfur. One guy on here named AL used sulfur and cured himself with it. I believe he kept sulfur on him 24/7 for a while, at least a month. another person used the sulfur 3 days on and 3 days off. Let's see what a search on this forum brings us for sulfur. "

***BenG1 said, "Good on you Joe :) I think 'PLEASE HELP' comes from the west of Scotland (Hamilton) so UK sites are better for buying stuff. I remember a woman on the forum saying that she'd locked herself away in the bathroom for 5 (?) days and covered herself in a sulphur mix which worked , but it meant dragging a tv in there and not leaving the room. Sulphur must be the oldest cure of them all. This Uk site might help you:"

*** Vann said, "BEWARE ! BEWARE!
SULFUR IS TOXIC AND CAN BURN THE SKIN RESULTING IN SEVERE DERMATITUS. EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU LEAVE ON THE SKIN, Horror stories about people severely damaging their skin are common here!
I suggest being VERY careful, and use Sulfur8 brand Medicated Cream or Sulfur8 brand shampoo [2% sulfur]. Also use a commercial sulfur soap less than 10% sulfur. More is not better.

Myself & others recommend a NON-TOXIC treatment such as one of these PROVEN treatments:
http://www.topix.com/forum/health/scabies/THI...

If you want to use popular drugs, read these links for a successful ending:

If you insist on using sulfur, here are some tips:
==========
Be very careful to get 100 % precipitated sulfur, also called sublimed sulfur, or brimstone, or flowers of sulfur, or milk of sulfur. These are pure elemental sulfur, natural and minimally-toxic. It is a relatively fine crystalline powder, light lime color, with a faint pleasant lemon fragrance (will not stink). Keep tightly sealed as it attracts moisture. The powder, undiluted, will burn your skin. It may be available in paint stores, it was referred to as 'pure sulfur' meaning 100% pure native (or elemental) sulfur, which will always be processed in one of the above ways.

Seriously,

Has anyone really been cured using Sulfur? Out of 89 messages, we have only 2 cured reports, and the one in msg # 1 is very questionable.

If you are cured using sulfur, please post your story here.

The good things about sulfur is it seems to be getting rid of my mites. The bad thing is that someone here said it got into the bloodstream and burned your eyes. That happened to me a couple times. IT is like when you are cutting an onion. i hate the burning. now my eyes are red.

The good thing about it getting into the bloodstream and affecting the eyes is that this morning I had lots of mite debris come OUT OF MY EYES! I looked at it in the scope and it was mite debris or actual dead mites. Either demodex mites or scabie mites I do not know. These mites are white so they could have been young ones.

So, accidently and possibly my eyes are getting free of mites too! It is not pleasant having tears run down your eyes and blowing my nose 150 times.....the mites could have been in my nose too...

Sulfur is hard on you so I guess I will give it a few days off now that I have applied it for three days.

Bitey,
Are you certain you are suffering from mites?

Please do the black light bulb test on yourself. A black light bulb is only $2 and can prove that you have morgellons or not. The condition lights up under black light, and mites do not.
http://www.topix.com/forum/health/scabies/TFC...
It is a waste of time & money to treat for mites if you have Morgellons.

You could well be correct in your diagnosis, but I just don't believe that mites get into your eyes & nose, mouth but morgellons sure do.

May God Speed your cure,

Slowly my rash is healing. I looked at Morgellens symptoms and so far I dont meet the criteria. Thank goodness...

I am betting I will be over this Scabies disease in two more weeks. I think I am at the end of the healing process. We will see if my estimate is correct.

Treatment I have used:

1. One time Permethryn
2. Wash all bedding, clothing, heat dry, use BB in wash and bag
3. Clean out cars with BB and today getting both cars fully detailed inside and out
4. Epsom salt bathing
5. Epsom salt/Borax baths
6. Tea tree diluted in bath
7. Cleaned floors, carpeting and couches/chairs
8. Used wooden chair only for a week
9. Shut cats out of my guest room/sleeping room
10. Slept 4 days on a mat on floor
11. Used sulfur cream and made my own cream and used it
12. Tried MSM, but got an overdose effect
13. Clothes and shoes in freezer in bags
14. Heavy Cetaphil cream on every day an night
15. Sulfur soap
16. Tea tree soap
17. Ativan and Benedryl in order to calm down and sleep
18. Microscope to record progress in healing
19. Ordered Advocate for cats, will apply it today, used Revolution three weeks ago.
20. Olive oil on one cat, then bathed him in pet shampoo with pest eradicator in it.
21. Biosilk treatment (seemed to work but caused allergy so had to quit doing this)

That is about all I have tried so far. So far so good,,,, symptoms are lessening.

I will continue until all my sores are healed!!!

No more Mites for Bitey.... soon I hope.

I agree. The head area gets neglected because it's just such a hassle to put sulfur goop all over the hair and head on a regular basis.

Last year a friend sent me Malathion. I applied it all over my hair and scalp and left it on per instructions 14 hours. The next day I had a few bites under my earlobes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner bites, 1, 2, 3. The mites escaped my hair so they had been hiding out happily in my hair and scalp. So even the Malathion didn't cure me.

I'm 99 percent cured, but occasionally feel tiny movements in my hair (maybe from my own body or from the dog mites in this house). So far, biosilk on damp hair before blowdrying it works, and also dry baking soda in dry hair limits their ability to move around and mate.

Bitey...I started using the sulfur soap yesterday and while in the shower I immediately notice some white particle on the surface of my skin. I am sure they are mites and larva coming to the surface!!!I did the some research on the sulfur powder and IT IS SAFE TO USE...IT WAS USED IN BY THE ROMANS AND IT WAS ALSO USED DURING WWI and WWII and soldiers used to get scabies. So along with the sulfur soap you can take sulfur tablet which will get rid of scabies. I plan to buy the sulfur powder to mix with vaseline and apply all over. OH FOR THE HEAD YOU CAN USE THE SULFUR SOAP..
I FOUND THE SULFUR SOAP AT THE DOLLAR STORE IN THE
SECTION WHERE PRODUCTS FROM MEXICO ARE SOLD. HELL IT WAS ONLY $1.25. i HAVE LONG HAIR AND LATHERED IT INTO MY HAIR AND I LET IT PENETRATE INTO THE PORES FOR AT LEAST 10 MINS AND THEN WASHED OFF.
I had to laugh because afterwards did I smell like rotten eggs and I was covered with vaseline!!!! I hope this helps you guys.

As for the head...at the dollar store you can also find hair balm you can put on your scalp!!! REMEMBER THE PURPOSE HERE IS TO COVER UP YOUR PORES AND TO DEPRIVE YOUR THE MITES OF OXYGEN. SO WASH UP WITH SULFUR SOAP FROM HEAD TO TOE AND THE AFTER WARDS APPLY VASELINE ALL OVER YOUR BODY AND USE THE HAIR BALM ON YOUR SCALP. DON'T USE PEANUT BUTTER. THEY ARE LIKE RATS!!!YOU DON'T WANT TO FEED THEM. remember we will get over this!!! I feel your pain and frustration. Also make sure wash all your clothes in hot water and use hot dryer. go to the laundry mate and just use regular laundry soap. These creature don't live long on surface its just that under the dermis they feed on the blood that keep them going. LOL

Well tonight i am trying to figure out if a few itchy areas are new bites, new burrows, or just itchy dry and healing skin!

Ann I have had that experiance where these white soft things come out of my wounded skin too! It is pretty horrible but good they are coming out. I thank you for the idea of washing my hair with the sulfur soap, I never thought of that and I will do it tomorrow.

Tonight I covered myself with Grapeseed oil. Felt good.!!!! Took away all the itching for now.

I forgot to add to my list things i use:

Orange furniture polish
Orange listerine

I'm slathered in sulfur - dusting wettable from the garden. It has now dried on me, but it enabled me to lower my doses of Iver, day 17 of Iver, and no crawlies!!!! The sulfur seems to inhibit the crawly all over you going to find a mate and bore in you so more feeling.

I have the sulfur mixed into tea treee conditioner and all in my hair, so it has now dried into a wilma flitnstone bufont - no hair spray needed, but you know I can feel them there when I wasn't applying it!

I have the sulfur spread all over every square inch of my body, but I mixed it with lotion, anise, clove tea tree & orange essential oil. Rosemary oil too!

I have to say that wherever there is live activity, the clove and rosemary goes to work burning it out. I cried like I had my finger stuck in a mouse trap until the burn went away. Yep, that would have been something to send in to Americas Funniest Bloopers, yellow sulfur painted nude running around and crying.

I hope to God that one day I look back and canlaugh at this scabies stint and say yes, "THAT WAS ONE BIG FRIGGIN BLOOPER!" Next?!?!

So night 1 completely covered in sulfur including hair, hands in sulfur with gloves on, even my feet with socks and sulfur, everything SULFUR! Day 17 of Iver.

Speaking of Iver, I wouldn't have used it, but where I moved I stayed for 3 months, and the source of the infestation was never handled - thus I was subjected to it for 3 months, so now they are quite deep inside my skin. I can feel them, its really uncomfortable. For 10 days, I felt like someone was dragging fish hooks underneath my skin.

Iver is administered to animals when they have major parasitic problems, everyday. So I'm on it everyday, it helps. Flax, garlic are also added. I scrub with sea salt and baking soda in the shower, and essential oils to bath...

Night 1 Sulfur, Day 17 Iver - Hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel of this nightmare.

Oh, and I had to move mainly where I had water heater that had thermostat. The thermostat on my water heater is set to 155. No joke, ask me if I care what the cost is, and I'm still boiling my clothes. I have found buying new clothes is the best insurance. I know from just putting the article of clothing on what peace feels like.

My last place that was the cause of this affliction, well I digi read the water temp at 103 in my bathroom, and 105 in kitchen...thats not even enough to kill basic bacteria. I hope that building falls and crumbles to the ground. ITs 1 AM, and Im waiting for the party to start, but maybe ...just maybe it wont!

The crawlies for the past week since I moved have been majorly subdued, so I'm hoping, I'm hoping, I'm hoping

Actually, all this week the crawlies have been rather subdued, between Iver and sulfur mixture...I'm feeling like I can finally focus on other things....

Maybe there is hope after scabies.

I didn't know that about ivermectin and animals. I took horsepaste iver apple flavored from the feedstore for 25 days straight last May and it got rid of the vibrations under my skin which in my opinion are live mite activity. A dose and a half up to a double dose at night is the best time. I took it with milk or butter (fat).

I read in an article posted at a laundrymat that 160 degrees water kills dustmites (where one mite is, more follow).

Can you sue the building owner? Someone should stop the suffering of future tenants. These places need to be exposed and reported. It's so widespread in Florida, there must be a scabies expert lawyer there by now.

Also pomado de azufre 10% sulfur cream is much easier to use. Yellow jar pharmacy section of walmart, kmart, cvs, in the spanish labeled section.

I have contacted 5 attorneys over this, and no one will take the case for 2 reasons...
The problem is proving that I caught it there, and negligence on thier part.
Day 19 Iver - holy moly
So let me tell you about negligence....The building was renovated, really nice, but its really old so in order to enter you apartment, you have to walk down an interior hallway, and there are doors on both sides....
I finally screamed at the property manager aftre I found out my friend at nasa, who is an engineer, caught it from walking into the lobby on her ankles. The mngr politely informed me that the caddy corner apartment was cleaned out, since it was abandonded in forelclosure, they had to go in and haul out(and im talking stainless steel appliances) to the dump. Total filth and excrement I was living next door too, and then I heard they had 11 people in a 2 bedroom before I moved in, and that was on the same floor as me.
Quite honestly, it was all in the air handler and I was so dumb I didnt evenknow it was spraying it all over me. So who ever lived there before me had it pretty bad. They told me the prior tenant always kept to herself. Holy no kidding. Thats my life now. I took straight bleach to my hindquarters today. just to kill the ones the Iver missed....I'm wearing out on this slow kill stuff.
Like whatever happened to having a can of Raid, and aiming and pointing and shooting and VOILA toast. This isnt like that, no sooner do you get one area cleared up another threatens to inflame, its so effing depressing. I use to be attractive. I thought I had a plan for my life, and this has turned me into a someone with a modern day leper story. Anyone with sense runs from me, and that included a pharmacist who lived in the building that filled my scripts.
Buggie are you cured? I'm thinking, since I did move and I know this place is clean, and I PRAY it stays that way with all my efforts...I was thinking it would take about 6-8 weeks to really rid of it, since I was practically soaking in it for 3 months.
I spoke to a neighbor here, and he said his dad had the same thing happen, older guy, rented a condo, and was subjected for 6 months, and after moving out it took 90 days - I still have his voice in my head NINETY DAYS!!!!!
Thats what I am figuring. All I do is bathe, clean, slather, exfoliate, pray, hope there is a cure. Are you cured Buggie?
