Thanks Mr Al........I needed you post today. I'm suppose to go back to work tomorrow and don't know if I can. I'm up for a promotion and it couldn't be worse timing. Over half of my long hair has fallen out and I have sores all over my face and eyebrows. I told myself last night that maybe I was imagining things. Maybe I did just have head lice and just feel creepy and crawly still (now there's a saying that has a whole different meaning to me now). So after trying not to do everything short of shaving my head and placing my self in a toxic tank reading "INFESTED BE AWARE" I managed to try to read a book and fall asleep for a few hours which has become a rare delicacy in my life the past week. Today I know I am not crazy.
HERE IS A FEW QUESTIONS IF YOU OR ANYONE COULD PLEASE ANSWER:
Do Scabies burrow under your skin?
Where do they lay eggs at in your body?
How big do they get and what color?
If I have treated myself for head lice more than once should anything still be crawling on me sticking to my eyelashes, eyebrows, or any other place such as in my nose ect?
Thank you in advance for anyones time this is the only comfort I've found in the past week.
Yes, Scabies mites burrow right below your skin. They can burrow most anywhere on your body. The places that they may not burrow could be the thick skin on your heal or places where there is thick skin, because it is more difficult to burrow in those places. Scabies mites are very small and not visible to the naked eye. You would need a pocketscope to view them. I have heard that scabies mites are an off white color, but my mites are black. yes, the mites will hatch out and will invade your eyebrows, eyelashes, nose, etc. Try to get yourself some ivermectin and take that orally, and, at the same time, use a topical like permethrin or sulfur. Other topicals are benzyl benzoate, eurax, lindane, malathion lotion. You can also mix borax with water and hydrogen peroxide and this will help to kill your mites. You can find this information at earthclinic.com in the pets/mange section. Keep reading these threads. Lots of good information in the Scabies Is Highly Contagious thread. It has over 6,000 posts.

Tiff: If you can get yourself some ivermectin, this will help to clear up the lesions you have on your face for everyone to see at your work. You can buy the injectible kind by Merial, online. you take 1 ml. for 110 lbs. of body weight. you mix it with juice. Wait 5 days and do it again. most of your lesions will clear up.

Tiff, if you live in slo go to walmart or cvs spanish section, find pomado de azufre sulfer cream and buy all the jars 4 to 5 dollars each. Apply 2x daily head to toe on scalp at night watch out for eyes. It will make your face peel so I'm not using it on my face.
Now makes a 15 percent msm lotion orange bottle that's good on face 8 dollars in health food store.

At walmart buy 2 or 3 vinyl mattress covers and cover your mattress. 11 bucks each. Spray surfaces with windex kills mites. Sprinkle borax kills eggs 4 dollars walmart on your carpet and cover it with plastic home depot 25 dollars. Or rip carpet up. Cover car seat with a plastic carpet runner from walmart 8 bucks. Throw out cushy chairs and pillows or cover with plastic completely. Uncover after you've been cured 6 weeks. Cover wood and leather. Borax and water to mop or windex. Borax forever in your washing. Boil clothes 3 hours, or cook clothes 1 hour 150 degrees, or dry at laundrymat 2 hours solid hottest dryers.

Tiff, wash your feet a lot or wear cowboy boots. My mites like leather so be aware.

Selsun blue shampoo is good I heard.

I wear clothes and bedding once then soak overnight in borax and water borax kills eggs, these eggs can last a year. I always bag my dirty clothes. Costco black garbage bags 13 bucks are the best. After drying on hot hot hot laundrymat dryer for 2 solid hours I pour clothes directly into double plastic bags no folding no touching anything. I spray best yet on them and on me and in car. You can iron clothes for work later. I heard spray starch kills mites and hot iron. I've gotten good sleep from making sure my bedding is heat sterilized. No big comforters...my ralph lauren clean comforter bagged and in the dumpster. Only sheets and light blankets.

I use horse paste ivermectin from the feed store apple flavored 1.87 percent cheap don't tell them its for you. And the sulfer cream is the best thanks mr al. I also am a huge fan of best yet cedarcidestore.com read their website. Spray windex inyou car on exiting or best yet anytime non toxic.

My grandfather has scars all over his face, legs and arms from Scabies. He looks like a leparsy victem it's so bad. He refuses to seek treatment claiming that they are not so bad. His house is so infested with these little bastards you can't knock on the front door without itching.

My heart is breaking so much I dunno what to do!!!!! This nightmare has been going on for two years, I got them under control myself with neem, sulfur and Triphala as well as a good itching hand, but grandpa won't budge.

I've had scabies for 6 months-possibly much longer. They DO infest your scalp. They become resistant to ivermectin and permthrin.Ivermectin no longer works at all... I'm trying anything and everything to try and get rid of them. This is a living hell for me- no joke. Im trying a "parasite cleanse" using herbs, i.e., wormwood, cloves, etc. that I bought online. Any other remedies would be greatly appreciated.

Read all the scabies blogs for info --
I believe the sulfur/Lubriderm cure outside ( with tea Tree oil baths and sulfur soap showers ) and internal cleansing and immune support is the answer.

Suffering,
Read info on bird/rodent mites. I thought I had resistant scabies for a long time. I was the only one afflicted in my house with all of the classic signs of scabies, except I had 'pinprick' bites and no burrows. They were diagnosed by 3 Drs. including a derm, as scabies. Perm didn't touch them. I could feel them crawling on me within an hour of using it. They love my scalp. The type I have is not at all visible and infests your environment. They don't go away on their own like some of the literature states, and they can breed on human blood. Go out and buy a bottle of Home Defense bug spray and spray everything. Hit your car with Hot Shot Ant and Roach. Seal your mattresses in plastic and dry your bedding in a hot dryer. If this makes a huge dent in them, you may have bird mites. I am finding them difficult to get rid of, but at least I have a direction now. They are much like scabies, but you have to knock them down hard in your environment and on your pets, as well as on your skin. If this might be what you have, there is a good site dedicated to helping you eradicate them. It is called birdmites.org . Be warned, it's scary. Good luck.

Pulled from the birdmites.org site:

Possible Bird Mite Infestation?
Pinprick bites with or without lesions
Frequently intense itching of the skin
Vague sensation of crawling on the skin
Bite marks and lesions that heal very slowly
Increase of symptoms in certain areas of the home
Increase of symptoms at night and in humid weather
Physician suspects scabies but the treatment does not help

I have had scabies in the eyes too. They left floaters, which impair my vision. Getting rid of scabies in the eyes was the toughest part and here is how I did it.
Soak a piece of cloth in bensyl-benzoate.
I used 2 inches wide stripe from old t-shirt.
If you have 100% BB - dilute in in the water approximately 1:10 - don't need to be exact. Or use BB prepared for scabies treatment. It is already diluted. If you prepare emulsion yourself - shake it well before soaking - BB does not dilute in water but make emulsion.
Dry the cloth - DON'T USE UNTIL IT IS DRY!-you will damage the skin.
Sleep with this cloth tied on your eyes for 10-14 nights. It should contact the eye lids - so it has to be narrow - not to cover the forehead or brows. You will feel better in 2-3 days. NEVER RUB OPEN EYES/EYE LIDS WITH BB OR BB SOAKED CLOTH! Wash in the morning.
You can use the same cloth for 3-5 days. Then soak again.
I have tried ivermectin - overdosed- got nasty side effects. It helps for 2 days - then itching in the eyes starts again. Used iodine in the eye drops - does not help. Cloth with BB works.
Also I think I should share how I got rid of scabies on the skin.
I have used permetrin, sulphur soap, neem, ivermectin.
Washed everything adding BB in the rinse cycle (~10-20 ml of 100% BB for a load)- slept on the sheets reeking with BB. Weared shirts/underwear with BB too.
Maybe there was cumulative effect - but I think BB is the best working thing ( this must be the reason they don't sell it in US - to leave the market for permetrin, which does not work).
Shower - lathe with sulphur soap- scalp, face, everything - let dry. It is not that uncomfortable. Repeat for 3 days - if more -skin gets too irritated. This also worked.
Well, and the last thing, don't hope doctors will help you - and if you start complaining about scabies in the eyes - they might put you in the crazy asylum but not before they take their $$$fee.
Best of luck!

Hey guys,
I'm not sure if it will be strong enough to kill mites, but you might try making a boric acid eye wash. It is a safe, old fashioned remedy for irritated eyes. I was told to use it years ago by a Dr. when I was having eye irritation and getting conjunctivitis due contact lenses. It is very mild and soothing. I've never tried it for bugs as they don't seem to bother my eyes. You can find the directions and lots of information on many health sites. Just google 'Boric Acid Eye Wash" for info. Boric acid is a miticide, and does have anitbacterial properties, but I'm not sure if the eye wash will contain enough of it to kill the bugs. I wouldn't go any stronger the recommended amount. In any case, it feels really nice to irritated eyes.

<quoted text>Oh they go there!! I found a burrow on my face!! I know they go to your scalp too.. Think about it when there is skin they will go there.. Mites dont care as long as its skin.. I think the old thining is that due to oily face and scalp that the mites wont go there.. Also when you scratch you detach mites and its under your finger nails and if you scratch your head or face on accident the goes the mites in that area.. Basically you helped the scabies transfer to new area.. This is why you want to clean your nails all the time everyday..
I definitely have them on my face and scalp. It happened after i applied perm twice in two days. There's a 1% permethrin shampoo for the hair, but not sure about the face. I put %5 perm on it even though it u feel ur face is a little burned.

When I see the sores and pull out what's inside them its usually a hard bump and attached is this string like substance that kind of looks like a spider-web. This is on my neck, face, eyebrows, even on the inside of my arms. I thought that because I shave my arms it was a result of a in-grown hair that couldn't break through because my skin is dry. My mom would say quit picking your making it worst! But It itched and you know your body better than anyone else and I could feel something inside my skin! What puzzles me the most is on certain areas along my hairline where there is a visible bump I can take the tweezers and pull out strands and strands of a sticky hair like substance.
My condition keeps getting worse and I've treated myself for head lice by chance that my family found out recently at my sisters wedding the flower girl had head lice- GREAT! So by researching information on that is when I came across body lice/ or scabies. All of this sounded much too familiar.
Now my nail beds seems to be infected even though I try to clean them and cut them short. Again I don't know if I'm freakin out or if this can happen but I think there is mites under the nail and first layer of skin. I finally went to the doctor and she didn't even look at my bites.
I'm scared that I'm missing my life and work because I'm over reacting and just want to crawl in ball and cry.......but any place in my home that may have gave me comfort (such as my nice bed, oh how I loved my bed) may have these things if I am right. I feel invaded, crazy, and scared.
I don't know what to do....
that sounds like what I've read about 'morgellons' because of the threads or fibers u describe. get some low cost enzyme spray, like "liceBgone" www.s-e-a.net try that. educate yourself. I'm still battling this. God help us-its a freakin plague!!!

I have had scabies for 3 months now and YES they are on my face and scalp. I'm not cured yet only because I believed the doc who said they wont go there despite the obvious edvidence that they do. I have gone through hell and back. I need to get rid of them before my college starts. Can someone tell me if getting a full body chemical peel gets rid of them Please???

Enzymes
Buy enzyme cleaners online, such as Safe Solutions or Kleen Free. Dilute 1 part enzyme cleaner to 5 parts water. Add a surfactant so that it spreads and stays on skin (Dr. Bronner's soap, for example). Put into a big plastic spray bottle. Spray that spider you see in the corner to show yourself that it works. When you itch all over, strip and spray your body. Rub it in everywhere. Put on new clothes. Spray your shoes, your mattress, your hairbrush. Scabies on the scalp? Spray and rub, wrap Saran Wrap around your head, leave on for two hours, shampoo and rinse. Repeat several times a day. YOU WILL NOTICE that of all the desperate people on this site, few report using enzymes.

I assumed they were scabies mites...but...maybe not. I'll check website. I also read about "morgellons" and that is scary as well.... How WOULD I find out what type of mites they are? Thank u 4 all help:))
