I have found that putting any type of oil in your hair and leaving it there as long as possible and letting it dry in your hair, then combing it with metal lice nit comb often really helps. They cannot hang on to the oily hair and you can keep combing them out. It helps at least. Also works for your body. Add bath oil or baby oil to your bath with epsom salt and soak in it very helpful also and it doesn't dry your skin.

I believe that I have had scabies for the last three years of my life. I find it really helpful when I submerge myself in a tub with really hot water for approximately thirty minutes everyday. I believe that the hot water and the time drown or burn the mites. Just be careful not to get into boiling water but as hot as you can handle. I also iron my clothes everyday and I even iron my bed. I wash my clothes in hot water and when I go to the gym I go into the sauna for 30 minutes. the war with these mites has been a hard one but I am sure that slowly I'm winning the war and I hope my routine help those who are having my same problem with these annoying mites.

Anyone can help please. I am a bit depressed after reading these posts. My son and I have been treated for the last 4 weeks with perm and the bugs don't seem to go away. My head itches like crazy and my 3 yr old baby rashes are coming back. It has gotten much better but I feel we are still infested, specially my head. How do I treat furniture? My car seat? This is crazy. I think my son got it at day care. Many thanks for the advice.

Why does it seem like this never goes away? Sadly I'm at the very beginning of my road, just officially diagnosed today and sitting in my first, apparently of many, useless applications of permethrin. I'm scared to touch my face or scalp (even though it itches) and haven't treated my whole scalp because my mom has been using my bed and now she's probably got em too, with the rest of the house sure to follow. Talk about tea tree and borax and acid has me thinking two things: first, the raw cost of it all. We can barely keep ourselves fed currently and now I've brought what are basically a microscopic plague of ticks into our non-air-conditioned home. My mom needs a job (I'm disabled) or we're going to lose everything, and she won't be able to find employment with a crust of bugs around her nostrils. A post I read said to sleep in a mask soaked with something, while wearing earplugs and eye goggles and a jogging suit. Is that going to be me now? This seems like an intense outbreak with no solid cure and, if you even can win by purifying your imperfect surroundings, there are people roiling about, in gyms, in Wal-Mart, on the buses and subways, all shedding a 28-day resilient parasite everywhere they go.. I keep wanting to get Ivermectrin (or whatever it is, I probably won't be poorly versed for long).. My dad is dead, from a tornado that took his life early and for the past three years every single moment has been incredibly tough, financially and emotionally. We eat a terrible diet, half of the house's electricity is fried and the dryer won't work without that fixed so all clothes would have to be dried outside on our newly added short clothesline. The water barely gets hot, and I have a bad back so I can't risk taking a bath (even if just to see if it spreads them rapidly to my face).. I don't mean to be a fear-monger, but these are my honest thoughts. I couldn't afford one bed cover, much less four for here and three for my girlfriend's house (where there are two yet-to-be infected children). Its been an awful day and I just want to read a book, but I look at my Lysol-soaked bed and see armies of micro-enemies just waiting on me to lay down. I don't even have spare bedding, don't even have a sheet on my bed. My blanket is rolled up soaked with Lysol in the corner of the room and my other few blankets are locked inside the storage unit we're going to lose in a few days because the bill is unpaid. I'm chain-smoking my few cigs and all I have is a blotchy red zone on my right bicep that has grown down onto my elbow and fresh smaller spots on my left arm. I haven't suffered day one yet and this forum has me sick, shaking, heart thudding uneasily in my chest. A dark thought I had earlier is that maybe you guys should go out of your way to attempt to infest some of these asshole doctors almost everyone is encountering. Smear their car door handles, get sloppy in the waiting room. Its an evil thing to say, sure, but then we'd truly have them working for us as they've supposedly pledged their lives to do in the first place, finding a solid cure for themselves. And I wonder what they know about permethrin. They say don't treat your head, but everyone here has easily found out they'll eat an exposed head alive. They know. So I'd guess they're securing some legal protection in their "neck-down!" instruction, when we're all bulging with tumors in fifteen years. I have my mediocre patches of this curse, my lovely blue-eyed girl has it on her face. And quite heavy over nearly her entire body. She thought the culprit was ants and got prescribed antihistamines, and then it spread for a couple months longer. I saw it appear on my arm, it tingled like a visitor, but I'm half-scared of the whole doctor experience, a spineless jellyfish as far as me being equal to everyone else goes. This sounds like the final nudge to send me to Hermit Town.. But at least she's in this with me.. We can bear it together, as we bear the rest.

I am cured. I have my life back and am so grateful.
I had a bad case of it on my face.
I had one on the corner of my eye and had to put drops in my eyes 3 times a day to get the eggs out.My nose was full of them (On the outside).
When you use the cream these little buggers move elsewhere.
The only way I found it effective was to apply the cream to the burrows I could see and plaster it up.Bensyl benoade is cheap and will kill them within 20 minutes.
I got rid of them on my body but getting them out of my hair was a mission. I do have posts on previous page on how I treated them in my hair
I slept with and covered my hair all the time after bathing with duct tape so they could not get out and go back to my body. Good luck

the correct spelling and name of it is benzyl benzoate. Benzemul is the product name. You can buy this online from australian websites.
BB, along with Stromectol ivermectin tablets is the key to a cure of this plague.

The cream that we are given to use works on the scabies nervous system to kill them
It works to a lesser degreeon our nervous system and the tingling feeling you are experiancing is as a result of this.
It will become less frequent and after 5 weeks I doubt your scabies has returned
I write this from my own experiance as a layman not a doctor.
I am,however, going to ask my doctor when he would like to write my thesis on scabies LOL

The safest and most effective cure is ivermectin (Stromectol pills or Noromectin by Norbrook at the feed store). If you have it only on your skin 3 or 4 doses 5 to 7 days apart can cure you. If you have it on your scalp it take more doses ( based on your weight) it might take a couple of months. Take it on an empty stomach 5 to 7 days apart. It works! It definitely worked for me. The environment is not that important. The most importAnt thing is to cure your skin in an effective way. Don't waste your time and money with all the non-useful things suggested on the scary threads around here ...

Yes! Ivermectin works. It saved me twice from the scabies itchy rashes. Unfortunately My condition was resistant to permethrin. The first time I wasted months with permethrin and other crazy treatments I found on the Internet until I started reading only the posts from the cured ones. I realized that that most of the times-when permethrin is not enough- people are cured after taking ivermectin, it can be from 2 to many doses. So I started taking ivermectin and got cured in about 3 months. I took it once a week. I took Noromectin diluted in water on an empty stomach. I raised the dose a little higher compared to the one suggested for my weight.
The second time (that happened about a year later) I started taking Noromectin at the first symptoms which I recognized right away. It took only 2 doses to get cured. I took the second dose after 1 week.
I just hope that the pathogens that cause this condition (sarcoptes scabies) will not become resistant to ivermectin too. It was the only thing that worked for me.
Hope this helps.

I've had scabies for 6 months-possibly much longer. They DO infest your scalp. They become resistant to ivermectin and permthrin.Ivermectin no longer works at all... I'm trying anything and everything to try and get rid of them. This is a living hell for me- no joke. Im trying a "parasite cleanse" using herbs, i.e., wormwood, cloves, etc. that I bought online. Any other remedies would be greatly appreciated.
How do you used and what dosage did you used for Invermectin? There are some suggestion that you need to need to take invermectin according to your body weight and the mites life cycle. I believe to take it on 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 days and repeat it
Did you do so?

I got scabies on my left temple & it has spread to my scalp. I have had it 2 months now. The Doctors I have seen, 5 in all are at best skeptical since I don't itch yet or show rash other than on my knuckles. It started when I just brushed past this guy in church to get to a seat in the narrow isle. I brushed his knee & shortly noticed he was vigorously scratching his arm. I left immediately! Well too late... I got vaginal mites, head lice, pubic lice of which I got rid of everything but the scabies. Ladies soak a tampon with tea tree oil to rid the critters in your crotch. The head lice gets olive oil every night till it's gone.Shave off pubic hair. This is wicked. I have tried ivermectin orally & permethrin left on 18 hours. They're back crawling under my skin. What should I do

Well, I've read some of these posts (not all) and it looks like there's quite a few people out there that have had some miserable experinces! So I feel due inclined to add my misery!
I contracted nodular scabies, thought that it was poison ivy (they look similar at first), went to my family MD who prescribed prednisone, orally. This was great, itching went away, bumps cleared up. Then 20 days later... WhamO! I was breaking out everywhere!! Head to toe! I went to see a dermatologist who knew right away what it was. Confirmed it with skin scapings. Here's where things went ary. He was like you are infested with scabies. gave me a Rx for invermectin to be taken now and then in one wk. No follow-up appt.
I took the medicine, did all of the things your supposed to. Clothes washing, cleaning, etc. Things started clearing up, slowly. But my Head was intensly itchy! I've had seborratic dermatitis since I was a kid and it was in the same area. So I treated it as I always do, with clobex shampoo (prednisone). It would clear up and then return. Meanwhile my skin was starting to really get back to normal. 3 months later, scabies are back! I knew right away what it was, treated myself with 5% permetherin cream, then again a week later. Started clearing up... then they came back after a month! To make a long story a little shorter. They were on my scalp. It took 7 months for this to come to light. I was treated 4 times with oral invermectin, 6 times with permethrin 5% twice with Eurax before it came to light. I was told by a prominent dermatology professor that it's very very rare for scabies to infect the scalp. I don't really think that this is true! I did 2 total body 5% permethrin treatments and 1 head only in between and large dose of invermectin to finally ( I think) erradicate them. I've been symptom free for 1 1/2 months except some minor scalp irritation. It's taken 11 months for me to fimally feel as if they are all gone... God help you guys!
I am about to completely shave my head and cry. Same as you..... They didn't believe it was in my hair . How can I really really really get at my scalp.? I have oral ivermectin and permethrin. When I scratch my head ...little red/black dots appear. I have nodules. Always suffered from dermatitis.:(. Family of five. Trying to control this is absurd .

Scabies *typically* don't go on your face.

Are you seeing pimply lesions and burrow trails on your face?

Are you experiencing formication?(Creepy-crawlies)? Especially around your nose and your eyebrows- but no pinprick bites?

Also, is there any chance you had the feelings of creepy crawlies before you had scabies (again, eyebrows and nose)?

If so, some of these feelings could be the demodex mite, a relatively harmless mite that lives on human skin for decades and normally goes relatively unnoticed. Studies suggest that about 50% of adults have them.

I'm wondering if the demodex mite can complicate our immune system's and nervous system's recovery from scabies. As in, we think we've killed it with permethrin, the lesions are gone- but we're pretty sure these weird tickles and occasional itches on our body are real. And our immune system responds more strongly to the demodex mite (with allergic reactions and the like) because it just finished off fighting s. scabei.

So the next time you feel a scabies itch, think about whether it's a pinprick (maybe scabies) or whether it's more of a mild itch on your nose or your eyebrows (maybe demodex). Just realizing that it could be something else- it could even be harmless- can help your body respond better to it. Also, tea tree oil is supposed to hurt the demodex (sulfur doesn't kill it, and since it can live on your face, a standard permethrin treatment won't get rid of it).

It could also be neuropathy. An anti-pruritic can help with that. But unless you're seeing lesions and trails on your face, it may not be scabies.

I am not sure what I have now.
Been to several doctors. Most of them said its scabies.
Gave me Permetrin 5%. It helps at least with the crawling.
But everyday...Since I got this it has been a never ending nightmare which I hope and pray to God that I would wake up and everything would be back to normal.
Which has not.
My routine now start with long bath of protection so the damn shit would not bit me..but every day I always find 1-3 bite marks.
I had tried borax, epsom salt, clorox bath and spray.
Putting Petroleum and baby oil/olive /coconut oil .
Tea tree. Neem oil. Apple cider vinegar (oh becareful..it can make ur skin dry and irritated)..Sulfur Powder same thing..
Before my body used to be worse cover with many many bite marks.
I also had fumigated my house 1 times with pyrethrin permetrin and sterifab. It helps..it seems..And I will try again. I put my car outside by the sun everyday. So the sucker day.
Now..I just went to sauna on my days off 1 hour for 2 days. Wash as often my bedding. As for myself..I take clove oil, oregano oil, rosemary, lemongrass, parasite cleaser and zinc magnesium, garlic, tumeric.
And tried not to be so stresful about it.
Which is hard .
I work..and sometimes I feel this pinprick sensation..and I still have to smile like nothing is going on.
I isolate myself from my closes friends out fear of giving it to them..
And the man who gave this to me, does not even care that he has turn my family life turn upside down.
And I can not even blame anybody but myself.
I only can only cried and pray to God, "Pleasee...Kill whatever it is inside mybody, Lord"

have been suffering with these critters for way to long, when i think they are gone, here they come back again, I have used the premethrin cream and seen 3 different drs. I hate the way they treat you. I work in the health field with people that can't comunicate and I am sure one of them had them. I have done everything they say, washed all the linens, I even bought new clothes. I now only sit on leather furniture in our house. I have had them in my hair, all 3 drs say that isn't possible. walk in my shoes. one dr ate his words when he looked at my head. I use cpap so that makes it ruff. I sure hope this is the last time I have to use the cream. OTC does not work for me. I bought a lot of it. some countries you can get the creams without seeing a dr. I wish that was true in the US why do they have to control it?
