Scabies on face and scalp?

Yes you definitely can get them on your face and scalp (and in your ears and on your eyelashes). Personally I use tea tree shampoo with extra tea tree oil mixed in on my hair and leave it on for a good five minutes while I shower the rest of me. I then dry my hair with a hot hairdryer and use loads of hair spray - it does seem to help. I actually think it is my hair that is keeping this awful infestation going. I use permithren (not sure if I have spelled it properly) on my face . As to the eye brows; I put a couple of drops of tea tree oil on cotton wool and wipe them over with that and then use baby wash on cotton wool - diluted with the same amount of water , to wipe over my eyelids. You need to do each of these every day for it to help though as I noticed that when I missed a day the horrible crawling feeling came back

Tiff: If you can get yourself some ivermectin, this will help to clear up the lesions you have on your face for everyone to see at your work. You can buy the injectible kind by Merial, online. you take 1 ml. for 110 lbs. of body weight. you mix it with juice. Wait 5 days and do it again. most of your lesions will clear up.
could you please send an email to [email protected] because i have a difficult time to get in and out of these forums. i guess from all that i have read you need a relationship or contact physically with an infected person. that there is no other way to catch this mite. just try and explain it to a physician or anyone for that matter. i was told however they usually say it's where you have been sitting, and i was asked so where have you been sitting? ha! i say you don't need many marks on you and to be covered and plastered with the scabs. how do you spell scab. i believe they go for the head and scalp because it is a good place for them to hide and lay their eggs. you might find the lice but hard to find the scabie. on the instrument used to weed the lice you might find a small speck that is white. with the microscope you will find the white speck looks more like a tiny white mite and sort of round. you can have both lice, gnats like, and scabies in your head or scalp. the physicians won't believe you and lord forbid you are on your way to a journey of no end but a big migration and cleaning, scrubbing, washing to no end. however nothing is forever. would you do me a kind favor after all my hard work, this ivermectin you say to mix is a prescription drug isn't it? so how do you just buy it? i think some people should get together and have petitions sign to make permethrin 5% an over the counter medication. so could you answer me please regarding the content and subject material of all the above regarding a petition to have permethrin 5% over the counter please. scabies ransack your home and environment and also run for a place to hide and maybe even in the keys of your computer or typewriter. like i said [email protected] oh the skin on your scalp is not very thick. true? or false? i would say true.

I have been to 3 doctors, and was told different things. Since I had no symptoms except the itch, I was given Atarax and told to come back if it didn't clear up. I went to another doctor after two weeks, still no rash, so I was sent for for bloodwork because it might (mite, no pun intended), be coming from within my body. Bloodwork came out okay, liver enzymes, electrolytes, sugar, etc. I was given Prednisone and referred to an Allergist, but can't get an appointment until the 24th. In the meantime, I now have some bumps on my stomach and lower area. Also, my fiancé had been itching for months, been to doctors, and finally was covered in a rash, EVERYWHERE!!! He has now been diagnosed with Scabies. I have not been diagnosed yet, but will go to the doctor tomorrow. Maybe they will finally be able to help me!!! I believe that my fiancé got them in rehab following surgery and I got them from him. Just saying!

That happened to me too. I only had it from my chest down and I reed that you should bath in Tea tree Oil. I already did one treatment of permethrin cream and it never got better so I tried bathing. A day later it was now all over my body. I too reed that they don't go on the face so I was really worried that it wasn't scabies. It was from bathing. It was now from my chest up to my dead. I had it on my face, in my hair and in my nose. What ever you do, DO NOT bath in anything. I reed after that that when bathing the mites float to the top of the water then it clings to the next best thing which was my head. I did a second treatment but instead of 1, 30m tube I used 2, 30m tubes. I think it has worked but I'm not 100% sure so I am going to the doctors today to get a scrap test done to make sure that it is scabies and that they are dead. Fingers crossed X Good luck

How exactly can I get it out my hair if it is in there? Do I just wash it over and over again like clothes. What about my mattress can they live on or in it? Please let me know this is my first time having this.

Have the shortest haircut possible. Remember the eggs are there too.
I have saidthis before --OIL your hair with olive oil or a cheaper one canola oil. Do not use sunflower oil as it does not wash out easily. The other 2 wash out with one shampoo.
Take a hairdryer and it must be a hot one and avoiding your scalp blow dry your hair until the oil is hot .If you feel movement concentrate on that area.Do this morning and evening without fail.
Next buy some honey or you can use (Syrup is cheaper and stickier).Sleep with it with a shower cap. The eggs will stick to the syrup and the scabie which breeds at night will go nowhere.
My hair was so infested that hubby could see the eggs hanging on the back of my hair
Wide parcel tape--brown or clear one if possible .Tape the eggs off your whole body bit by bit--Wrap around your legs and remove immediately. You can see the eggs on the clear tape.
I also found a scabie breeding on the tip of my nose.I put some tea tree oil --just a dab because you need a plaster to stick.
This scabie took 20 minutes to fight its way out of the plaster..
when it stopped moving I removed the plaster and caught it with parcel tape.
I have the evidence in a box so that my stupid doctor can't tell me it must be something else if the meds did not kill it
Even the derm is an asshole. They both let me down by telling me the scabies were gone and I was reinfested.

If you don't want to cut your hair, you could use the following that works, especially in the hair:

This was a mix created by a pharmacist in Hungary. The ingredient names are in Latin. From that, I put together the mix, alka seltzer being acetylsalicylic acid and borax instead of boric acid. Lately, I've been using food grade aloe gel that is available in health food stores and is surprisingly cheap. umauthr mentioned that aloe works well, and it does. I use two alka seltzer tablets, tablespoon of borax, dissolved together in a bit of water, then about a cup of aloe. Mix it up and use everywhere including the hair. It does dry the hair but a conditioner solves that problem.

Why are you recommending this when it doesn't cure anything? maybe you should be on the "Temporary Relief" Forum, Canuckette.

A lot of people have used many variations of this with no real result except wasting time. Maybe some people just accept that being sick with these infections is a lifestyle .

The only thing that worked for me and cured me was ivermectin. You can buy Noromectin by Norbrook in a feed store near you (it costs about $30. There are about 50 doses in the bottle for me. That depends on your weight). at the feed store Get a small syringe too (about $1) to take it out of the bottle. Drink it a glass of water on an empty stomach (either around 3am ir at night).I took for a couple of months. The first month every 2 or 3 days, and the second month every 6 or 7 days. I thought I would never be cured, but Noromectin worked and saved my life. When you take it you'll feel a little sleepy.
I've been cured for a year now. I have my wonderful life back.

You need a hospital. Your parasite or mite sounds dangerous. Start with a hospital.

I'm so thankful for this site I have just been diagnosed with scabies and I'm so confused and freaking out! if these before but never really knew what it was. the doctor sent me home with topical cream to use, but after reading everybody else's experiences I wonder if those work better than this cream. He prescribed Elimite 5%. any suggestions or advice would be so helpful I have two young kids and scared to death for them to get this

If you've just been diagnosed, you may be able to kill them with the doctor's cream. Try it and if it doesn't work, go back and insist on something else. Those of us who have been treating for a while, didn't get properly diagnosed soon enough or in my case, had other skin issues that masked it.

2 doses of Ivermectin and 4 tubes of Permethrin, 4 doctors 2 of whom say Scabies, yet today the derm Dr. says the skin scraping test results show nothing there! I made him do a second skin test,so let's see if it takes another month for the results to come back negative again. This is a worker's comp situation. I was exposed to it at work, for a fact.(Are they now trying to discredit my claim?) Also given drugs for anxiety and itching. Now they would have me (and my employer) thinking I'm nuts and this isn't real! Hell, I had to look it up, didn't even know what "Norwegian Scabies" was!(1st Dr stated it in writing)

Skin scrapings are notoriously unreliable unless done properly. They must take scrapings from several areas and especially those areas that show irritation, otherwise the test is of little use. They must know what they're doing.

I got scabies there months ago and treated for everything but. Finally found out what it was and after 400 spent, I have the easiest solution. On amazon you can purchase permthrin for much much cheaper. Sulfur soap, scabies furniture spray, and a bed bug cover for every bed in the house. Treat yourself along with everyone all at the same time. Clean linens, clothes worn, clothes near worn clothes, ect ect. Put pillows in dryer for thirty minutes. Hot hot hot. Finally, cover all beds with the protectors. Keep washing daily, all lines as tedious as it is you must. Keep covering yourself daily with sulfur soap for ten minutes. It is also good for the skin. Two weeks later, repeat but now take the bed protectors off to expose a bug-free mattress. Put them in a trash bag and tie tightly. Put that in the garage or somewhere away from the rooms or living area. If you feel the need, repeat.

This is how I got rid of scabies in my hair.
I treated my face with benzyl and tea tree oil and plastered every burrow so that they could not move away
By this time they were off the rest of my body
I bought a fine comb and combed syrup through my hair morning and evening to get rid of the eggs
I then washed my hair and tied it in tiny pony tails all over my head to prevent active movement.
I then closed my hair completyely with duct tape so they could not go anywhere.
I had to use the cream on my head to get rid of them and in absolute desperation rubbed pure bleach through my scalp.Left it on for 15mins(Guess no doctor would recommend it.)I did get an infection but it has cleared and I am now scabie free.
There is hope and I pray you all cured soon
I suffered with this for 6 months and did all the sreilising of linen and clothes
