Mark- i used everything- bleach, sulphur soap, msm.... then totally fell in love with coconut oil, clove oil and neem oil mix.(ordered in bulk multiple times from amazon) Neem oil doesnt burn, but clove does. I made it so strong that the clove oil really burned in sensation when I applied it to my face. I APPLIED IT EVERYWHERE NIGHTLY, WASHED IT OFF IN THE SHOWER IN THE MORNING AND REAPPLIED EVERYWHERe EXECPT MY HAIR FOR THE DAY (AS I HAD TO GO TO WORK WITHOUT GREASY HAIR.) Tonnes of the stuff. Minmum a month of twice daily application.
Post scabies is a bitch by the way, and finally im nearly over that!!

It seems the overall consensus is that doctors nowadays have vastly outdated knowledge when it comes to our lovely little mites. However, I wanted to clarify one thing before I wage all-out war on my microscopic enemies:
I have been told by every doctor that I have seen, nurses, friends, and every website on scabies I've visited that, due to acidity levels on the face and scalp, scabies just don't like it and won't take root there.
What are your experiences with this? Have you had burrows/bumps/other symptoms on these areas? Do you treat your face and scalp with the same products as the rest of your body if you do treat them? Have you been cured without treating your face and scalp?
If they gt into your scalp the only treatment that is going to be successful is stremectol... the lotions prescribed are topical for the skin but on the scalp they just make em mad ! haha.. they come back in force.. i have batttled it for over a yr.. the only thing that has worked on my face and scalp is the oral stremectol tablets and i have only tken my first dose 2 days ago but already can tell a signifigant differene.. i can sleep.. before if i turne the lights out i could feel them in my scalp crawling from hair folicle to hair folicle.. burrowing..i swear i could feel them when the eggs hatched ad they moved to another hair folicle after chewing that one off.. i have half the hair i had a yr ago.. i have ow started gently massaging virgin coconut oil on my scalp.. it helps moisturise it aftr all the lice and crap the doctors prescribed my heaad.. after me telling them the are not lice... but still they would look a t my hair folicles for eggs when the dang things were under my skin.. but to gt them to do a scraping took a act of god ! Makes a person wonder jusst if we will ever really get rid of thd dang things...

Get a large bucket and wash your linen in boiling water everyday
Hang your pillow out everyday as a pillow is difficult to wash
Boil your pillow slips and cover your pillow with 4 pillow slips.
They can burrow through material.
Also Canola oil or olive oil saturated on the head. Then use a hot hair dryer until every hair on your head is hot. The hair dryer makes the oil hot and kills the scabies.
I got rid of them this way.
If I felt the slightest itch during the day I would put the dryer on that area.Canola and olive oil wash out of the hair with one wash.Do this morning and evening.

To all people new to scabies, come to this forum for information: don't freak out.

Scabies is quite easily treated for most.

If you're careful, don't cut corners and think spend a minute thinking about how you might get re-infected (and acting appropriately) scabies is usually beatable in a single dose of cream.

It's not the end of the world. You just have to take care. You can kill the bastards if you're careful, and get your life back pretty fast.

Read my post above--little way up the page.
Boil your linen and clothes--forget the washing machine
Just use a large bucket and pour the boiling water fron the kettle or big pot onto it.
Read my post above re the hair issue
Wear rubber gloves at the computer and rinse them afterwards.Wear socks--if they are on the floor they seek their host.I was reinfected on the feet and legs this way.
I scratched for 5 weeks before I saw the doctor so you can imagine how bad I was
I am on the mend but it has been a battle
Apart from the sores they leave the mites pose no health risk.

Scabies go to the scalp and ears! I'll post the link here of google images... http://www.google.com/imgres... ...guess I should have shrunk that url.
Crusted scabies are same as regular scabies, but complicated (They infest by the thousands without stopping at the neck border.) I have links open in front of me. CDC says do your whole body hair ears and scalp.
If its not working. do what i did...get100% sulfur from the garden section of your local store. You'll find it under insecticides for garden. 100% Sulfur. Buy some powder at the dollar store, mix it between 20 and 50 percent, strong as you can handle it. Douse your scalp and your feet regularly. Sulfur is non toxic to humans, in the elemental state, but boy it'll tear your eyes for a minute.
Do your pillows and couches and matress. You won't believe how it helps. Make a paste for the bumps out of sulfur and vaseline.
You may add a cup to bath water with a liquid soap.(Elemental sulfur is not water soluble!) add the soap and you have a mineral bath. We fought scabies for years while the doctors prescribed permethrin from the neck down...Finally at the risk of becoming a scabies specialist...I tackled it myself with outstanding results.
God Bless and You're not crazy. Here's another link. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Scabies/Pages/Co...
Hi! Im curious to know, how exactly did you got it of your head ? And did you ever get post scabies? We're a family of 9 and have been battling this mite for 8 months, any more information would be very helpful!! Thanks!

It seems the scabies find the only place where the cream has not been rubbed in
We are told to coat the body up to the neck.
i know this is the way it went to my hair
I got rid of them by oiling my hair in canola oi(Less expensive) or olive oil and then using a hair dryer. The oil gets hot and kills the scabies so you have to take care.
I think the best way to use the cream is to coat as told up to the neck then sleep with a face mask so they can't get to your face.Don't forget to put the mask behind the ears as well.
Boil your linen or put it in a tub and throw boiling water onver it everyday.Forget the washing machine.
IMy dermotologist has said I am scabies free and has given me a wonderful cream to use twice a day.
He is 100% sure,I am 95% sure and still examine myself to see if there is anything new coming up.

I go back today its been about 2 weeks so we shall see what the deal is. I hope your doin better ill post when I get Bach,(its a hour ride) so it will be a bit. I do get new spots but they come and go. My skin is healing I will have a scar or two, but ill take that over the bugaboos any day. Have a good one.

Thats awesome! I'm glad your doing better. This crap consumes our lives, and its no way to live. I'm doing ok. I can't say the C word, but I'm doing a lot better. What this does to your mind is crazy! keep us posted, people need to have hope that they won't stay itchy forever

Well things went well, the derm said I will have the ich for a few more weeks, but all and all I think these bugaboos are dead (hope). I have been using this steroid cream, which I'm not a fan of, it seems to make me a bit more itchy. The rash is going away, the spots come and go still. The derm said it's just my body healing and getting rid of the carcass and poop. I feel better, not hopelessly lost anymore. Its going to be a long road but I can huge my kids again, go into public not feeling like a leper. I take 2 showers a day to make sure I wash the yucky away. I use lotion that the doc gave me to deal with the dry skin. For the people reading my post please have faith, don't give up. Follow directions, wash and rotate your clothes, shoes, sheets. Reinfection is the way to screw yourself. I ironed my clothes, hot dryers, it's extreme but prevention of reinfection is the key. Some methods don't work for everyone but there are tons of ways to treat yourself. Explore your options, don't do hanky stuff. Read information on this horrible bug. I will pray for each one of you. God bless, and God speed.

Yes my dermodologist said our minds are powerful.
We cannot believe the scabies are gone.
Our body will expel dead eggs and poop.
I had a haircut for the first time in 3 months yesterday as I did not want to put my hairdresser at risk.
I also told her I had,had scabies and asked her to wear gloves just as a precautionary measure.
I had so much hair that even showering did not remove it all and last night I felt pricks and looked through a magnifying glass and there, where I felt the pricks were a few hairs left over from my haircut.,
I am 99% confidant I am over it but it has been a long hard battle.
Good luck to all scabie sufferers and God bless

As far as your face goes, I'm not sure what to do.

IF IT IS IN YOUR HAIR
1) buy some kerosene (can be generic)
2) buy a hair net thing like you use when you dye your hair
3) apply kerosene ALL OVER HAIR AND SCALP
4) put the hair thing on and sleep with it on your head
5) wake up and wash it out with shampoo and conditioner
6) YOU CAN STILL BLOWDRY AND FLATIRON YOU HAIR AFTER YOU WASH IT.

Yes, I agree. In my case it took 12 doses of ivermectin (of which: 4 doses prescribed by the doctors I was seeing (stromectol) and 8 doses of Noromectin by norbrook). The hardest thing was to beat the pathogens in my scalp. I had no side effects. I'm now healthy and happy again ... and I have my life back!

Does anyone know after uding Elimite if you should experience new rashes in places you did not have them prior to the treatment? I've treated twice and cleaned like a maniac but I still feel a fluttery feeling on my skin. The rash is beyond just itching...it hurts! This has been a nighmare to deal with. We had 4 Dermatologists, 2 GP's and 1 Allergist misdiagnose scabies. They told my son he had chronic Urticaria. He figured it out after 3 months and treated himself. Then 5 weeks later, I got it. I'm usually an up person, but this has actually made me feel a bit depressed.
hi i was wondering what your son and you did to treat scabies and where can i get what i need? i am in real need of and info you can give, i finally get to have my daughter this summer and i really don't what to give it to her. THANK YOU for any help you can give.
