I posted this early in this thread it has answers to you questions in it.
This does work.
This is a step by step how we got them under control we are not out of the woods yet still spot treatment but we are getting there
1) nuke the house ( bug bomb the shit out of the house)
2) take horse paste ( I suggest 2x body weight ) every 4 days
3) 5% Permethrin cream ( can get off eBay) leave on for 72 hours
4) wash off perm then Nair the whole body except for you face and head. Use vaseline to protect tits and other items.
pubic hair should go! 5 min should do it.
5) Get 4 mil clear plastic (Menards) cover everything including beds and mattress, carpet, couch, chair etc etc
6) get perm 39% SPF ( eBay) make sure it's the indoor stuff. Use this on clothing bed sheets spray the plastic.
7) Nair about every week for 4 to 6 weeks
8) spot treatment with bleach then perm 5%.
9) if they get in your nose use Vick on them there. It does seem to work well
10) lint tape roller to use on skin and clothing.(this does work well)
I found that the horse paste does send them into making long straight lines this is a good sign that the Ive ( horse) is working. Having pets makes this 10x harder to get rid of. Dip the pets then find a confined area for them until this is over. Mites live a long time in bagged items don't open them for at least a month. Me 2 months is not long enough.
Good luck and happy mite 'ing

The itching intensifies after the treatment because of the dead mites. This is the most horrible condition I have ever been through. I was going through tubes and tubes of cortisone cream and benedryl but someone on this site recommended tea tree oil. It works. You can use it in a warm bath 15-20 drops as a treatment or apply directly to the affected areas. I applied directly to the affected areas and I can visibly see the difference in my skin as it is healing and the intense itching has diminished just after two days. Hope this helps.

My son had scabies 4 mths ago. He used the cream three weeks in a row, and medication that they give dogs for heart worm. After the 1st week, he still felt the same. By the thrid week they were gone and he was feeling alot better.
Unfortunately, I've been itching for mths and now broke out with a rash. First treatment last nite. The itch is unbearable!! anything I can do for the itch. Also, is there something I can put on my skin since we can only treat once a week.
Oh and BTW, I'm alergic to sulfur.

You should have treated yourself along w your son. Oh well. Tea Tree oil does soothe the itch but it doesnt last long. If you still have live mites nothing will stop the itch but death of the mites. The perm i used said use two days in a row. I did and its gone. Also treat everyone in the house at the same time so not to risk reinfestation. Clean bedding in HOT water and vaccum rugs mattresses couches, i even vaccumed the drapes in my room since the can touch my bed! I HATE bugs and wont survive reinfestation. My husband thinks im nuts but i bet i wont get them again!

I have had what I believe to be scabies for a few months now, it is really driving me mental.. I've no idea who I got them off. I have been treated along with my son, boyfriend and family, 1st treatment was probably around a month ago. Someone please tell me it gets better, i'am at the stage now where I dot think I will ever stop itching :-/

i think ive got scabies as well, ive been getting these bumps, red marks for a long time, they have just recently gotten worse. I went to see a dermatologist and he said they looked like bit marks. i started itching a few days after i seen him. then i googled bites from bug that cant be seen by the naked eye. ive treated myself with that permethrin 5% lotion. and washed everything in site with hot water and bagged all y pillows and comforters . how long do these things live for without a host.??? im so frusterated i feel like im never going to get rid of these things

Ever try Green Bug products? I've had some success with them. Been using the indoor product about every day and they seem to be reduced by at least 95%. Was using lysol, but they seemed to keep coming back.

I hate to burst your bubble but Permethrin alone will not cure Scabies even in the early stages. Only the combination treatment regime of taking oral ivermectin at double then triple the weight-based dose while at the same time applying 45% permethrin via Advantix or Freedom 45.
Bleach baths with Epsom Salts provide some temporary relief but do not cure.
Pure Clove Oil has been known to be very effective for Scabies sufferers in their early stages but like all topicals does not penetrate deep enough for long term sufferers.
For long term sufferers many from this forum are using the new DMSO with Eprinex topical mixture.
Hope this helps.

I used the permethrin cream after having scabies for 2-3 days. I was/am very upset that I had to use it because I am also pregnant. I don't like taking any medications/creams because I feel that they are all bad! It even said "if pregnant do not use unless really needed" and not to use it while breastfeeding..pretty much saying it's not good to use while pregnant. I used the cream yesterday and left it on for 14hrs. I washed everything and vacumed 5 times already because it makes me feel better like I'm sucking them all up (I wish) I now have more bumps on my hand/wrist and neck! I only had not even 20bites before and now it's doubled =( if I wasn't pregnant I'd do the cream everyday for a few days but I'm scared to even use it one more time. I don't want anything to harm my baby girl<3 & it says theirs a 3-5% of birth defects from using it!! I don't know what to do. I'm gonna pray for it to just dissapeer..i feel that it's all I can do.

I read most of the post and I have these same symptoms. First it started with my oldest daughter, then my twin daughter now my son. I took them to the hospital and I shockingly found out they had scabies. When I think about it I might have it to because I have the same little bumps on my inter leg and butox as my kids. I applyed the permethrin treatment and woke up itchy ever were. Is there any way I can stop the itchyness it irritating me I can't sleep.

If you follow the directions on the permethrin cream it will say to treat from neck down. When you do this they migrate to scalp and face until you wash it off. Then they return all over again. Ignore the box and treat scalp and face. The old regime of avoiding face and scalp is 30 years old and scabies are much more adapted and resistant now. Use nit comb 2x daily. Take stromectol tabs from the doctor at same time as perm cream.
See mite warriors post above.

permethrin or ivermectin from http://pillstore4all.com/... cleared it right up for me.

If it is really scabies permethrin should work. Treat entire body from the neck down leave on overnight and repeat in a week. Everyone who shares a household or close physical contact should be treated. Unless you already have a scabies infestation on your neck, they should not "travel to your head" They are microscopic and they just don't move that fast. Launder all linens in hot water and dry in hot dryer before and after both treatments, or seal in plastic bags for at least a week. That includes any clothing or items that have been in contact with your skin. Anything that is not laundered, sealed or dry cleaned can be sprayed thoroughly with lice/mite spray. Vacuum all surfaces including mattress , couches, pillows thoroughly before and after treatment and spray with lice/mite spray as well. Be sure to take out vacuum bag each time and discard. Wipe all surfaces you have come into contact with before and after treatment as well. Then, BE PATIENT! Permetherin is irritating and can cause a rash itself. The itching may get better initially then get worse again a few days later. BE PATIENT! Use tea tree oil or lotion if your skin is irritated. The itching from the permethrin and the dead mites and mite eggs growing out of your skin can persist for a few weeks after treatment. Do NOT bathe in bleach or borax or hydrogen peroxide unless your doctor has instructed you to do so. If new areas of bumps are developing 2-3 weeks AFTER your last treatment, you should see your physician to determine if you still have an infestation and need further treatment. For about 6 weeks I was obsessing over this and going crazy trying to figure out if I was "cured" or not. I avoided friends, family member and most public places for fear of spreading it. Try not to obssess too much and BE PATIENT! Good luck!

Had these mites from hell since Dec 2012..
I've treated myself 5 or 6 times now. Some a week apart, now 3 days apart. Also, after 1st treatment noticed mites in my hair, ears, nose and eyelids..! So all treatments now are: Scalp -to- Toes.
You mentioned they keep growing out of skin for 2 weeks - maybe that's what's I'm seeing not new ones.. hmm.. Maybe dead but just raising up/out as you say.
Will give honest shot at patience a try your way and let all know what I come up with.
One thing though, just remembered, first 'clinic' doctors I saw - started me off with betamethazone (i.e. a gluco..cort..steriod)- mites went absolutely crazy - read later (CDC I think)- the worst thing they could have prescribes - creates more of them - and more resistance - I've got ~100 sores (females) and tons of males hoping around on a bad day (disgusting). Only time all quiet is with 5% lotion / cream on. Now for 24 hrs for a bit of peace.
Last time picked out most male colonies via tea tree oil / coconut conditioner / green 'stinging' type hand sanitizer then mayonaise (read somewhere) smother entire sore -plus- all (~ 3) male feeds (tiny black spots around each sore).
The males (small arrowheads)'mostly' come out and sometimes the females (larger round ones) eject themselves trying to 'fall' onto any area of the body to start sucking on /implanting themselves into (again disgusting).
They absolutely never stop - like the terminator.
So I'll try anything.
And this time, no disturbing anything, let the 5% cream do it's thing, however mucho skeptical, but God I hope so.
Oh ya, Some things I've found:
- Vinyl gloves slows new spots..,-plus- no males (black ones) can get under the fingernails, etc..
- Leave them alone while treatment lotion /cream is taking effect (starting now). Scatching /picking(my fav) seems to re-awaken some of them (via bloodstream messaging I think). Picking triggers males to hop around and fertilize loads of female - sores /spots.
- similarly put off that first 'continuous' scratch, that's what starts the avalanche of itches I've found - way way easier said - I know, I know.
My Dermatologist says it's just a dermatitis - prescribed broad antibiotic. Ya.
Emerg doc said I can treat if scabies with OTC meds - off to the races then (end of Feb at that pt) Yikes. But would not ck to verify since I said I thought I had in my hair as well. Young doc too - said impossible.
My diff diag I came up with scabies. Have tens of females and male specimens so for sure scabies -plus- tracks everywhere (most likely from the betaderm cream init prescribed at clinic). My own doc does not know what to do but got me the dermo doc appt, ehh ya.
4 month Nightmare and counting..
OK Patience, patience. I already know if ''nest'' actually 'cluster' is disturbed, they all go nuts - 5% cream or not.
I'll let you all know OK. Anything I can do to help.
Almost ready for Ivermectin ..
