Actually, post scabies itching can continue for more than a couple weeks in some people. It can even last a few months although there should be some improvement over that time. My friend was almost completely free of itching at about 3-4 weeks. I am still pretty itchy at 5weeks. We have both had thorough scrapings done and are free of scabies.

I messed with my skin more than he did. I used sulfur and tea tree oil. That may explain why I am still itching or it may just be that I have more sensitive skin.

You will not itch or get new bumps after the scabies are gone.
Please this is not true. You will still have bumps and your itching will get substantially worse after treatment. You have to do an uber cleaning of everything. I moved everything to a separate room and will not go in the room for a week. I have minimal clothing and linen that will have to be watched daily. My boyfriend and I will have to reapply the treatment together to insure we do not reinfect each other.Remember apply the medication from head to toe and wash your animals as well. They may carry a different might as a host however they can spread human mights (fur etc>). Good Luck Comrads

I've had scabies for a couple weeks, but it's felt like an eternity. The first time I went to the doctor, he told me I just had hives. I waited a few days, pretty sure he was wrong, and then went back, but by then it had spread a lot. I used the permethrin cream 3 days ago, exactly how the directions from the pharmacy and the doctor said, but I feel like I still have active scabies. Do I have to wait a full week to do the next treatment? I'm in the middle of moving to a new area and starting a new job, but I'm worried about how long this infestation will last because I can't do the type of work I do until this is gone. My son hasn't gotten it, thank God, but I am treating him just to be safe, and washing/cleaning everything as much as possible. I'm sooo creeped out and disgusted by this and I don't even know where it came from. Any advice for getting rid of this ASAP is appreciated...

i had the worst of it in a stress case,,i had been seeing doctors for 7 months befor i got sent to a specialist because no one could tell what was wrong with me, i had all std test done nothing there, i had to see her twice before i even noticed i had a rash going up my hole left arm from the elbow, for the longest time i thought i was misdiagnosed and was worried it was herpes because i kept getting the bumps on my genitals, but when i saw the rash i was almost certin it was scabies,,i showed my specialist and she said it was that as well with out me telling her what i thought, so i treated my self wash all my clothes and all that its been about three weeks and i too have now just had a few more bumps on my genitals,,the rash is almost completely gone,,so iam hoping its just the post effects happening,,,this is a very stressful thing to deal with,,iam hoping it really is scabies and not herpes,,i could see how there easy to misdiagnose from one or the other

If you have had it for longer than a few months it will be nearly impossible to cure it using a topical or something from the outside. You have to come from the inside, It's how your body works anyway.
Read "progress scabies forum" thread the first two or 3 pages. Then read the first page of the "moxidectin" thread. Ivermectin has a lot of shortcomings that moxidectin fixes.

DISAGREE. Ivermectin is the cure to this disease. Is everyone supposed to believe you??? After you spent months and months on this forum directing people to HOMEOPATHY to cure scabies? Why are you doing this Missy Denver?? What's your point?

I have not been on here in a few weeks now. But when i had scabies i was scouring this site every night. I just want to let others know that it does get better, at the time i felt so hopeless and paranoid. I did 2 rounds or Permerthrin (sorry for spelling) and sulfer soap. For me the treatments made my symptoms A LOT worse for the first 3 days and then a bit better but it never got great. I struggled with what i now know is post scabies for about 6 weeks. For me new bumps would pop up and itch and i would go into panic mode again and clean my house and wash everything i owned....this parasite can make you CRAZY. I hung in there and kept telling myself i was not still infested for those 6 weeks (thabnks mostly to my boyfriend who kept me sane and was no longer showing signs) I guess my point is it will get better I had so many time i thought this would be my life forever and i cried a lot....but here i am just ahppy to be back to normal. I hope this might have help one person that is feeling the way i was.

Psy is an unending source of nasty comments designed to specifically provoke posters and disrupt the forum. If she's reported, she just signs on with one of her other names. And apparently no one is moderating these forums from people like her, so they essentially be3omce useless.

I have been getting small bumps on my legs for about 1 month or so now. They itch terribly and I have went to the doctor. The cream he prescribed does not work. I need some rest from these bumps. One bump forms, then about 6 more form around it. I need relief and want to know what I can do to get these bumps to go away. They do not bleed but leave a light brown scar. Please let me know what to do to ease the pain and itch so I can sleep!!!!

well if what the doctor gave you did nothing you should go back and see him/her again,,they should have given you Permethrin cream 5% for scabies if thats what they told you thats what you were suffering from

Hi everyone. I wanted to share my good news! after suffering from this horrible bug for a couple of months before being diagnosed and then getting into a panic after reading info on various forums about how hard they are to shift, I am finally cured after 2 weeks of hard graft. I did use permethrin 5% twice (7 days apart as advised), even though I usually only use chemical-free products on my skin for day to day skin care. I treated my skin with tea tree oil in jojoba base for 2 days to calm the infected rash from scratching before first treatment. Did first treatment and then bathed in dead sea salt, 8 drops of tea tree oil and neem oil every night leading up to second treatment. I also used 10% sulphur soap and left it lathered on my skin for 5 mins before washing off in shower every morning. I had the washing machine running all day keeping clothes and bedding clean an also hoovered everywhere, including mattress and sofa everyday. The Premethrin is strong and made my skin break out in places I have never had spots even though I usually only use chemical-free products on my skin for day to day skin care. Possible to pass them on through clothes and bedding anyway. Im still happy with washing and hoovering and erring on the side of caution though. It's so easy to feel everything is infected and that you will infect everyone you know when you have it. It's pathologically and physically an awful thing to have. Be gentle with yourselves and think positively and treat your skin as kindly as possible when treating. It's so easy to go overboard. Bleach and such things are incredibly drying so my advice would be do permethrin twice as instructed and moisturise lots with homeopathic remedies in between to let you skin heal and get rid of the unwanteds. Sending love to you all - you will get there x

Moisturising products as much as possible rather than bleach etc that will dry it out more and cause dermatological problems. Stick to docs prescription and use gentle products in between and after and allow yourself time to heal emotionally and physically without getting into a panic if you can. Don't read all the horror stories! I did my own head in and made the experience even more traumatic than it already wAs by doing so! It's physically and psychologically bad enough without adding to the torment. Post scabies itch and skin healing after permethrin will make you continue to itch but give it time and don't continue to be harsh to yourself or your skin - you've been through enough already. Sending you all love. This has been a tough anti social journey for me too! I've done all I can and now allowing my body to heal just knowing all will be well and jojoba oil
And pure coconut oil are my new best friends soothing these post scabies breakouts.
