Ok everyone I think we are cured it's been over 7 weeks since our last treatment we are in the wait and see stage I'm taking the baby to hospital tomorrow to get him looked at as he is still getting spots that come and go throughout the day normally they don't last longer than a day and don't seem to bother him. I'm on telfast 180mg once a day and for the most part I have no itch but I do have an almost constant crawling sensation and have seen the hair on my hand or arm move on it's own I figure it's static as everything is still dried in the dryer. I don't have any rash tho I get one or two little blisters now and again which I pop and a clear liquid comes out. My scalp is sensitive I get spots on my hair line and lumps under the skin on my scalp but that seems to be getting better now that I'm using t-gel shampoo. It's very hard for me to believe it's gone but I think it will take me a long time to get past this mentally. The best advice I can give anyone is don't take these forums to heart too much, don't google stuff it makes you believe it's worse than it is and what you read you can never unread! My partner is fine now no itch or rash no side effects, my daughter is also fine which I'm so thankful for and for my son and I it will take time but we will get there. Everyday is one day closer to normal I tell myself. I'm just waiting to see what the doc at the hospital says as the waiting list for derm is huge! Logically if my partner is fine then we are too. We sleep in the same bed and have lots of skin contact so if I wasn't ok he would be itching. He didn't even need an antihistamine a few days after treatment. I pity anyone who reads these posts honestly it's a lonely place to be that seems hopeless but hang in there it won't last forever! X x

I've been dealing with this since April 4th. After two treatments of the cream and the pills I was still itching. The doctor said I didn't have scabies anymore so he sending me to a dermatologist. In the meantime I remembered how my grandmother use to treat itching from anything so I decided to try it. After my morning shower I sponge down with a gallon of water with 1/2 cup of baking soda added. I might be "cured" by the time I go to the specialist. The itching is almost gone except under my breasts and the groin area but I'm still working on those spots that were infected really bad. For my face I've been using Queen Helene mint facial. My face actually feels real good now. I had 2 spots in the hair line on the back of my head that just wouldn't stop so this morning I'm treating them with the facial pack. It's important to help your skin go back to normal so I'm also using Niva cream all over at night. The dryness seems to be going away.
I feel your pain. We caught it 3 weeks ago we are on our 2nd week of treating and the post healing is bound to happen but the body needs to clean itself. We are getting so much better. We have changed our habits by far but now knowing these guys exist... I'm talking precautions. We got a lot of Epson Salt, Tea Tree Oil (only a few drops in the bath with/without), Pure Virgin Coconut Oil, Pure Coconut lotion, and Sulfur Soap. Take his a day as hot as you can take Epson and tea tree baths. Air dry, then mix tea tree and lotions together (I warmed them up) rub All Over after each bath.(Note: every time we saw a burrow we cleaned/killed with peroxide, it starts to bubble white which means it's working how peroxide should work helps speed things along) Then spotted Tea Tree oil on red blotches, borrow lines, rash or itchy spots. And never wore or slept in the same clothes or sheets. I got a spray bottle diluted Tea Tree or Clove Oil Or Both And Sprayed On everything before and after use from furniture to carpets.
Sat in my only chair, or spot. We too have only 2 sets of clothes and just washed each cycle. A family of four and 1 never got it the 2 youngest got it but caught it in time and no more signs, my hubby was the carrier so his healing we know is probably a bit longer.
People don't trust or believe in natural remedies which is fine since we are in a Pharmaceutical world. But...As for me...seeing is believing and I 100% believe this one worked. Unfortunately, the healing needs patience. I cried in the beginning but when you have kids and a life I did what I could. Yes... There is a cure guys....we are living proof!

Its a hard thing for a toddler to go through, do you have family he can stay with? If so, treat him first. It can take 2 months to show up & if you have it he probably does too.

I did treatment on Thursday with 5% permethrin on my son and I. He woke up today with even more bumps on his stomach and legs. I'm worried that the cream didn't work. Is it normal for more bumps to appear after using this cream ?? Help !!!

Yes, this is normal. Before, only those mites dying from natural causes were being expelled by the skin, now they're all (knock on wood) dead and being expelled.

New marks and waves of symptoms can come for weeks afterward. Heres a summary of info I've been sharing with others. This affliction is horrible, but it's easy to mistreat, both too much and not enough. It is very important to treat completely when using topical creams, or they will flee to the untreated area.

Please read the CDC articles below on how to treat your environment & yourself. Go to an urgicare place ($100). Tell them you came into contact with someone with crusted scabies and that you were advised to seek immediate proactive treatment regardless of any lack of symptoms. This will save you much grief in trying to convince typically sceptic MDs. If your case is light, two treatments a week apart of permethrin 5% cream applied, after showering & drying, EVERYWHERE but immediately around the eyes. Leave on 8-14 hours. Wash clothes and refer to CDC guidance on other cleaning. Upon awaking, wash bedding, deposit clothes directly into wash, shower & wear disposable gloves while doing additional cleaning. If heavier infestation, be sure you are prescribed Ivermectin as well, 200 micrograms per Kg of body weight, twice a week apart. Same cleaning required with each treatment. If extremely severe & very crusted, day 1/2/7/8/14/15/22/29 Ivermectin & permethrin, plus permetrin daily for first week, then twice a week after until cured. Use alcohol to swab personal items, bag items for 4 days, follow the CDC guidance. Don't try to beat this with some of the hocus pocus on these boards. Both of the drugs referenced above can be harmful, ivermectin can cause seizures, permethrin is a neurotoxin that can make you a bit slow, so get a Drs guidance, but inform yourself & come prepared to refer them to these links if some prodding is needed to provoke action by Drs often more focused on covering their behinds.(Seizures &/or brain damage = lawsuit; suffering from scabies prolonged by failure to treat = Unlikely to ever be provably linked back to the Dr)

I'd suggest cleaning your home the best you can with disinfectant. Are you sure the blisters are from Scabies? Do they itch or hurt?

I'm at the post scabies stage. The itching has decreased dramatically after I used the permethrin cream and I've been able to sleep (thank goodness). But it's so difficult getting over the physiological trauma, and these little pink bumps I'm getting are freaking me out! They're not nodules, they're pimple sized, pink, and only on the tops of my hands. They seem to be multiplying too. It's really scaring me, to be honest. They look like what was showing up when the mites were alive.

Is anyone who has successfully treated getting anything like this?

I am also getting multiple blisters. When I had active scabies, I got them (they are small and clear and resemble bubbles). They would linger for a week or so unless I popped them. Now, post scabies, I am still getting them, but instead of blisters here and there, they're showing up in patches, and each of the ones in a patch are very tiny. They stay for a couple of days and dry up and disappear. So I get them, but as tinier, much shorter lived versions.

Idk my kid was still getting blisters on her hand post permethrin too so I thought that meant we still had them. I was getting mosquito bite bumps that came and went daily until about a week ago. Last time we used permethrin was 1 month ago. We've been doing natural methods at home now the last month so idk if that's helping or if we've been in post since the last treatment. I wish I knew , they say new burrows would tell you but I never had any in the first place so idk :(

From what I know, you may very well be cured. If you're not experiencing intense itch like when they were alive, you're probably experiencing post scabies symptoms. Unfortunately, though they may decrease in severity, symptoms don't abruptly stop after killing the mites. At least, not for everyone. I'm guessing as the body works to eliminate their remains, the irritation continues. I experienced post nodular scabies and the clear blisters. I'm also trying to find out about other symptoms to possibly gain confirmation that all my symptoms are post-scabies related, or get a clue as to whether I may be re-infested again.

I'd also like to clarify that I've treated three times, each a week apart, and am now in about the second week after the last application. My skin was clearing up, and then these little pimpley bumps began to appear. Even with those, I'm still not itching the way I was though, which makes me suspect it's only post scabies.

If anyone else can confirm that they get these particular bumps that aren't nodules, that would truly help give me peace of mind. And for us folks, especially after treatment, peace of mind is everything.

-We also treated 3 times each a week apart. And I was getting lots of bumps behind my ears and sides of my neck about 2 weeks after the third application. My kid was still experiencing lost of blisters on hand that itched. Her hands are now clear but I was also apply sulfur ointment on her hands everyday until about 2 weeks ago. I stopped to see if she was truely clear or if it was just the sulfur keeping it at bay. Last few days Ive seen her itch her hands but no new bumps until last night she had a little patch of raised bumps on her wrist. I think its so hard to tell if it's post or active unless you had a severe case and the cream clears it up. I never had more than a few bumps and it never kept me up at night. I feel like my symptoms got worse after permethrin which makes me want to believe any skin irratation is from that but I also did sea salt soaks for 4 days after the last perm and that also made me feel like that sent the mites straight to my ears and neck.

I wish it was cut and dry and we could know for sure whether it's gone or not. I'm trying to be patient and see if the symptoms gradually get better. Our next course of action will be nustock sulfer , I would start immediately but my kids skin is so dry and chapped I'm giving it a few days to heal.

I have not been on here in a few weeks now. But when i had scabies i was scouring this site every night. I just want to let others know that it does get better, at the time i felt so hopeless and paranoid. I did 2 rounds or Permerthrin (sorry for spelling) and sulfer soap. For me the treatments made my symptoms A LOT worse for the first 3 days and then a bit better but it never got great. I struggled with what i now know is post scabies for about 6 weeks. For me new bumps would pop up and itch and i would go into panic mode again and clean my house and wash everything i owned....this parasite can make you CRAZY. I hung in there and kept telling myself i was not still infested for those 6 weeks (thabnks mostly to my boyfriend who kept me sane and was no longer showing signs) I guess my point is it will get better I had so many time i thought this would be my life forever and i cried a lot....but here i am just ahppy to be back to normal. I hope this might have help one person that is feeling the way i was.

So I'm in China now so obviously resources are already extremely limited. I thought I had gotten rid of my scabies, used an "insecticide" cream to get the scabies which absolutely destroyed my skin. I thought I had gotten rid of them but after about three weeks of it I thought I was in post scabies mode so I stopped, itching wasn't as intense and I could go to bed somewhat better.
Then I got a bump on my penis (in addition to the two that were there from the scabies before) and as the month ran by they suddenly multiplied. Now I'm getting bumps on my hands and itching everywhere all over again.
Getting rid of the mites themselves is difficult because of the environment I'm in; I don't have a dryer, washer only uses cold water, and apartment is fairly small. I feel absolutely helpless right now. The bumps and itchiness on my penis is the worse part. If I resist scratching it sends a sharp pin prick sensation that lasts a few seconds. This is mostly just ranting but right now I'm regretting ever meeting the girl that gave this to me (in contrast, she had them for a few weeks but got rid of them, Didn't even suffer post-scabies for long either!!) Sorry for all the ranting. It's really put a damper on what should have been a fun and exciting time for me.

Right now I'm most worried about my groin area as now there are several noticeable bumps that won't go away. I heard Apexicon works but is prescription only and in the US no less. Does anyone know a good substitute for it or am I pretty much screwed until I can get back to the states? I need to hear more success stories, I'm pretty depressed about this whole thing and I'm finding some people have had this for months if not years.
