So i was diagnosed with scabies by an GP, and i was told to take one tube of permethrin. 3 days following the treatment, I was really itchy which I read is normal, but then my itchyness went away. Now tonight 6 days after treatment I notice more bumps on my small pinky. My scabies was never really bad or never really itched too much. I only noticed these new bumps after I stracthed my finger. This finger was intially affected as well, could it just be irration or do I have scabies again? I was going to wait till tommorow on the 7th day to do my 2nd treatment but I went ahead and did it tonight. I have been changing my sheets every day, my pillow case, I washed ALL my laundry. I only wore my clothing for 1 day at a time, and immediately washed it. I switched comforters every night. I wore gloves at the computer. I vaccumed my car. Raid sprayed my carpeting and mattress permethrin. I showered daily. What could I be doing wrong? Am I reinfected by the hatching eggs? Did my environment recontaminate me? Is this just irritation? SOMEONE HELP!

It could be that the permethrin didn't kill all the mites. of course, you know that permethrin doesn't kill the eggs, so that is why you do subsequent treatments. you did a good job environmentally. if this second treatment doesn't clear you up, try getting some ivermectin. that will do it. or use some sublimed sulfur mixed with body lotion.

Well i dont know about the bumps. I just think that when the pumps are rather hard they are burrows and if they are not its some kind of rash or something..Im not realyl sure...Ive done the perm treatment and its been over 4 weeks, however since my hand is starting to itch again and some times my inner thihgs im going to the doctor tommorow (again) to get reexamined as I might have been reinfested:-(

does anyone get these little holes on the hand? looks like cracked skin??? had plently of them...

I think it's probably better to do the second treatment in five days than seven days, so that's fine. I think you have a good plan. Hope you went with the high end of the perm time??? Also, if you save some bits of perm, you can top off all the red spots with it for an additional 24 hours after you wash of the total body treatment and reassess what's left. The remaining red spots are probably the burrowers. You got all the surface mites already with the total body treatment. Get any new red bumps. Then wash off again. This worked for me, when I still had two red bumps after a 24 hour perm treatemt. I decided I'd wash it off, but just those few stubborn spots needed the extra spot treat. This made a big difference. Also, don't wash hands without reapplying. You can use plastic gloves for personal hygine useage, then discard. Or you can wash and reapply, but I'd rather save the perm for any stubborn red or itchy spots that aren't red yet. If your scalp was itchy or affected and you did not treat that, get another refill and do your scalp pronto. Hope this helps. P.S. Don't use deoderant during a perm treatment. Let the Perm absorb into the mite loving pit area.

You really have to wait, do not keep treating yourself over and over again.

Being on this forum, you too will be consumed by the paranoia of being infected by mites repeatedly.

Most people do not realize that post scabies can last months to years. Over treatment with these poisons will just make your skin even more sensitive.

I treated myself for scabies 6 months straight. Went through 6+ tubes of perm, 4 doses of ivermectim, 2 bottles of lindane..even tried tea tree oil, white vinegar etc.

But I would still get bumps...one day i decided to stop all treatment, and just use lotion to calm my skin. For the last month and half I have had close to no bumps.

Sometimes I would have a breakout of 5+ bumps, but I would ignore them. They would go away and I would not have a breakout for a month.

Remember dead mites and feces need to work its way out of your body. The body could produce a system wide reaction to the decomposing mites and feces.

I am sure my bumps were new. And the crawlies are unmistakable. They preceed the itching by a few weeks. I think that a similar post convinced me that my bumps were normal. But, they were in new places. And I had crawlies. I felt free for a month. In fact, they didn't start up for two weeks. After treatment, I felt normal. It wasn't until later that I started getting bumps
and that systemic itch. It was back. Just like the first time. I ignored my gut feeling. P.S. Most people haven't gone through six tubes of Perm like you or two bottles of lindane. That would certainly make me think that yes, yours are gone. I also think there's a systemic itch, where it's not just in that red spot. This is when you know, know, know, that you are reinfested, it's an all over feel that you are itchy everywhere. Also, some people will get terribly, terribly, terribly itchy if they are officially reinfested, maybe 50% of people will get a major reaction out of a reinfestation that seems everywhere. They are lucky. Because then one treatment could work. Pay attention, if things have been good and then you get a big, noticible itch. You are reinfested! You can treat and be golden. It may not be post. Just saying. Mite, I am so, so, glad you are cured! That is awesome. Please post in the cured column. Okay?

Mike, I'd call my Doc and get a refill and leave that perm on for the max time, and top off those red spots with Perm. Then I'd wash off and spot treat those red spots for 24 hours. Because perm isn't working the way it used to. So get those places now, before you get fully reinfested. It's probably reinfestation in your case after only one Perm treatment.

scabies can develop immunity to permethrin, ivermectin and lindane. Using the pesticides often seems to contribute to their devolping immunity. Even when they do work they don't seem to kill the eggs. Bleach baths seem to be working for me.

These bumps are probably post scabies, nothing at all to worry about.

It's been 48+ hours since I've treated myself with perm. The 6 red bumps on my abdomen have faded substantially. What are "post scabies"?

Back to the bleach....... Gave me relief from crawling and nipping BUT I over-did it ( twice daily, quarter cup in bath) and got big rashes. Advise ..... NOT TOO OFTEN !!!!! Maybe couple of times a week is ok, but BE CAREFUL.

i have read the posts and been dealing with scabies for almost two months , i have been alternating between permetherin cream bleach baths and lice shampoo. i put one full cup of bleach in the tub and soak for
thirty minutes every two days. the days in between i soak in lice shampoo for 10 minutes. im not sure if the shampoo works but i am 5mo pregnant and i dont have many options. after doing my routine for 2 weeks and thoroughly cleaning my house i still have new bumps and crawlie feelings all over. i have even encased my mattress and box springs in airtight plastic bags that i wipe down with bleach and i bombed my house with pestisides. does anyone have any other suggestions? i think im going insane with all of the laundry and the itching. ps. i wear a bleach/chemical respirator when soaking, the fumes are unhealthy.

Hi
I would do a google search on permithrin 5% when pregnant before using it if you have not already done so and go to doctor. A few mothers on here have babies i dont know if they had when they were pregnant or not check out all the posts they will have plenty of info.

Desperate,
I know you are desperate to get rid of the scabies, but you need to keep the health of your baby in mind. Stop taking the bleach baths, and look into using sulfer. Also having good results with using vaseline, baby oil, and olive oil, all over the body.(these can also be mixed with sulfer) But go to the doctor to get the premixed ointment. Read as much as you can on here. You can get rid of these before the baby is born, just act quickly.

My 6 yr. old was diagnosed with scabies on Monday, we did perm cream that night and tuesday evening my 9 yr. old that had NO signs or symptoms before the cream broke out with red bumps all over her chest belly and back no where else and was itching very bad. I applied the cream all over and the rash looks similar to what my 6 yr. olds looked like in the beginning 8 weeks ago. Did I infest her with applying the cream or does the cream bring unseen scabies to the service does it have a delayed reaction. please help, thank you
